I think that people are complete idiots not knowing that December 21st is the first day of winter in the north and summer in the south. The Mayans calculated the years by the same method that we do today by when they had their summer harvest. They were planning to have a big festival to celebrate their new millennium and then their calendar would start over. Put aside the Mayan stories...just look at the facts. Solar activity is expected to go nuts as it comes out of the sleep it's been in. The Sun's polarity flip flops every 7 years and when it does it releases a lot of energy. It's due to flip next year and there is a ton of energy built up inside.

Our satellites could very well be fried in a strong solar blast...Power grids taken down as well...basically throwing us back into the stone age in one fail swoop. This threat is real.
