well!!!!! Check this the drummer from F.U.K.T. - they call him speedy gonzales, and he rocks very hard. Try to write "FUKT drummer" in youtube, and let him take you places... hes name is Anders Meinhardt, and he is unbelievable. Also try "Anders Meinhardt Drum'n'Bass Masterclass Preview"
Those have been thought out and named already, the gravity blast hasn't been used for too long now compared to flams etc.. And some people started calling it gravity blasts (which would be in metal) and some call it a one handed roll (you).
A drumbal is an invention a came up with. its used for effects. you can place in on the head of any drum. check the vid of him playing at the chicago drum center. or search for drumbal on youtube or google.
He makes it look so smooth and easy that you would think anyone could do it but what he's doing is frikkin' hard as hell. Absolutely incredible drumming as always. I love Johnny's videos.
Not true at all. Some people have no natural rhythm and it wouldn't matter how much they practice they'd still be terrible. Even people with rhythm sometimes cannot perform difficult beats because their brain just can't put it together. But I wish what you said is true because if it was I would be a world class drummer and not just another dude playing along to an ipod in his house.
Are you sure about that? If you really practice hard and practice the right way i think almost anything is possible. It might take time of course, but if you stick to it, get yourself a teacher and practice for many many years i think it is possible
Yea I'm sure. I'm old enough to have learned I have my limits and it's just how things are. I play ok but no matter how hard I practice I'll never be that good. Everyone has their limits and some people are just better than others no matter how much practice goes into it.
this guy has unbelievable technique. perfect to the highest standards. timing is spot on. i look up to this guy. hes my inspiration and idol. i strted drumming 9 years ago cos of this guy and found out i had a real tallent for it. i hope one day i can meet this guy.
Johnny is an awesome drummer and a super nice guy.
Johnny and Jojo are differnt in many ways. They both have their own style, they are both are amazing at drums. Also dont forget that Johnny has mastered the freehand technique.
I know everyone says Jojo Mayer has faster hands then Johnny Rabb but most of them don't remember Johnny was the first person to BREAK the 1000 single strokes in a min record. Unless Rabb doesn't practice anymore, Jojo would be the slower one.
BOTH are great musicians. Regard. speed, we can't know it for sure. Yes Rabb has a 1,071 record. Jojo in his DVD demonstrates 32nd note single str. at 140 bpm. If he doesn't lose the speed, it's 1120 beats in minute. In video he does 10 sec run and he isn't struggling. Maybe he would loose speed in one minute, but then again we don't know whether he would be able to start with higher speed to compensate natural fatigue. We don't know Rabb's current level, he might be blazing over 1200s now.
Sorry, it's description inaccuracy! Although I think you understand what I meant :) In the DVD his metronome was set at 140 bmp for quarter-notes. Since he played 32nd notes his playing speed was 1120 bpm or 18.6 bps. Hope now my previous post makes sense.
1) metronome plays quarter-notes at 140 bpm, he plays 32nd notes- 32:4=8 he's playing 8 notes for each click, so 140x8=1120bpm.
2)metronome plays quarter-notes at 170 bpm,
he plays 16th triplets = 24 notes in each 4/4 bar- 24:4=6 he is playing 6 notes for each click,
so 170x6=1020bpm.
So basicly comparing his results to Rabb's 1,071 record, we can't be sure who is now faster. At the end does it really matters? Both are FANTASTIC musicians!
Mr. Rabb here is a very good drummer, but he doesnt play drum n bass, only drums :)... nuf said.

Your BPM thinking is off.
1) Bpm=beats per minute
* Some how you multiplied 140bpm by 8 to get 1120 which means you gave Jojo eight minutes to play what Johnny 'might' play in one.
2) If Johnny plays at 1071 bpm that means per second he plays about 17.8 beats.
3) If Jojo plays at 140 Bpm he gets about 2.4 beats a second.
4) Unless Jojo can multiply his 140Bpms by 7 he wouldn't match Johnny's speed.
5) That is of course, if Johnny still does his WFD hand work outs.
jmr2master 3 years ago

Something Happened to the other comment I left.
1) We are both wrong(but me mostly).
2) I watched the video and had listent to the tempo.
3) 140Bpm = 3 counts out of 4 from 4/4 time per second.
4) So 1second=3 counts of 4 = 3x16=48 beats per second.
5) 48beats per second x 60 seconds = 2880 beats in a minute.
6) So I was wrong Jojo if he could hold that speed would break the world record in 2 thirds of the time.
jmr2master 3 years ago
Jojo demonstrates two examples:
1) metronome plays quarter-notes at 140 bpm, he plays 32nd notes- 32:4=8 he's playing 8 notes for each click, so 140x8=1120bpm.
2)metronome plays quarter-notes at 170 bpm,
he plays 16th triplets = 24 notes in each 4/4 bar- 24:4=6 he is playing 6 notes for each click,
so 170x6=1020bpm.

1) Then my maths off again.
*guess its time to get on my tempo and stroke counting skills.
*Yeah they are both great
2) Guess its time to get the DVD since I only saw the free sample that goes up to 140 Bpm.
