Born Richard John Colangelo on 4-14-57 in (Bensonhurst) Brooklyn, New York. He gradulated from James Buchanen High School Brooklyn, NY, the high school that was shown at the beginning of Welcome Back, Kotter. He earned a BA in Political Science from Hunter College, New York, NY. In 2004, he was ranked #57 on Comedy Central's list of the 100 greatest standups of all time. His final performance was in February of 2007, at the Rio in Las Vegas. He died on 3-10-07 in West Holywood, California.

AFTER GLOW

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one,

I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when day is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,

of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve,

to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.
