The real genius is Edward Elgar (Who composed the piece that is being ripped off - at the beginning and the piano solo) any two-bit composer could write something like this during their lunch break. I guess it is kind of a cool fusion though,and I love the Matrix!

By the way the original piece is called Enigma variations and was written around the turn of the century (1900) if I remember correctly.

I finally figured out why this sounded familiar. The piano and string portions are interpretations of "Enigma Variations" by Elgar. Mr. Dougan shows his considerable musical genius with the compilation. It retains all the passion of the original with a modern, technical edge. Bravo!

"A Whiter shade of Pale" the Procal Herum classic from teh 60's is based on Bach's, "Air on a G-String" and not, not the one she wears. Edward Elgar, 1857-1935, is a contemporary master. And I'm reasonably sure he would approve of this interpretation. This is not "copying", this is an interpretation. Had she known so much, she would have known the difference. .
