@bilangkongan actually when you listen to instruction vidoes like this you will learn to play the wrong way ,especially because your going to learn from so called''Professionals'' and youll just end up more confused!
If I heard this as a beginner and was fooled into thinking this guy was an expert it would probably put me off cello for life. To call this guy a gypsy would be an insult to gypsies!
haha I'm a beginner and I already know how to do this stuff I learned it in 3 days T.T I'm sorry but your not a professional you could teach me a few things but I'm sorry your not cello material. Your really hot though.
Power Chords on the cello!? This guy's a fucking rock star. Check out the "hammer on / pull off" video too. This tool bag is a regular Ziggy Stardust with a god-damned bow!!
Nothing's hard when you already know how to do it. But when you first start learning...yeah, it's definitely something to get used to if you're accustomed to frets.
I'm sure this guy will do a video about how to sit on a chair before playing cello and will miss it ! If Casals was not dead, he would suicide watching this "expert". Seriously, beginners should not watch him ...
hahahaha This guy is sooo retarded. He doesn't have a clue what he's talkin about. Holdin the cello too high. Fingers are too flat(even though he's playin double stops)lol Just funny
lol yeah this guy doesn't know what he's doin hahaha. ChhezWhizz yeah you dont even play a stringed instrument so there's no point tellin us all these years of experience.
Those of you saying he doesn't know what he's talking about, lighten up.
Coming from the ear of a trained musician (7 years Sax, 3 years guitar, 1 and half years Choral experience (Bass 1), just picked up the Mellophone), he sounds fine. In fact, he sounds really good. Personally, I think a good portion of classical "technique" is just tradition. Not a majority, but a good amount.
But thats just opinion. I suppose I do not play a bowed string.
yes, I'm play contrabass but the same principal applies. you can use tape to remember where each note is, then muscle memory will kick in eventually. definitely don't use these videos to learn, find a local private instructor. also, really focus on getting good technique right away, it will really help in the long run. it's generally hard to undo bad habits, as I've found out.
hey i'm a cellist for 2 and a half years, and brother, u need to raise up your left hand, i remembered how my teacher yelled at my hands and more bow when i was still a beginner ..
um, I've been playing cello for less than a week, but you need to lift your arm (left) and.... never mind. To beginners like me, check out Andre Navarra, he's waaaaayyy more helpful.
Let's let someone else do this..

first... tune your cello...
then... tune yourself...
then... practice...
then... beg for some lessons...
and after that you 'll be able to understand why you shouldn't post such videos in youtube...

expert musician
SaiyanCHW 1 year ago
This is why some people play the cello wrong
this kind of senseless information ruins people's mind
and messes them up. This kind of video should not be put on youtube.
especially string insturments.
It is very easy to be out of tune but very difficult to be perfectly in tune.
and in-tune playing comes from every little thing.
But this is ruining that every little thing...

first, raise your left arm, raise your fingers, get a better bow hold, get in tune, and....uhhh dont listen to this guy
theamazingplant2 1 year ago
im more put off by the people that comment here instead of the video.
i mean, whats with the ranting? why not make a real video so people like me interested in the instrument can get the RIGHT info...
sheeesh...you all sound like deprived geeks

description says: watch an expert musician demonstrate how to play power chords using double bowing in this free music lesson video.
good loop hole, they said expert musician, not cellist.
XtCkkthxbii 2 years ago
expert in what, exactly? he's no expert musician if he thinks that what he's doing to that cello is remotely musical. call the NSPCC now.

It's not called double bowing. It's called double stops!!

Man i really want to learn the cello.
Unfortunatly I'm afraid they are ridiculiously expensive. haha.

I know you can rent one for cheap. Here in town where I live, it's only 26.60 a month.
Very affordable, considering the lifetime gain you get from learning. :D
