This machete requires sharpening. You can hack with it as it is, but it is not an axe. It needs to be sharpened just like most machetes sold in stores.
this guy is a total bozo he thinks the hole at the top of the blade is for aerodynamics, hahaha dude stop giving reviews on stuff if you have no idea what your talking about. FAIL.
Shouldn't rust if you clean and treat it with a light machine oil or silicon spray when you are done. They can't be made from stainless or they will shatter.
@jdinky3 i have had this machete for about two years and have not had a single problem with rust. and ive sure as hell cut more that a few weeds with it
The blade never "flew back and hit" anyone. The raised edge on the handle wasn't there and several people slipped and cut themselves on the saw back. So they added a small handguard.
the hole is for hanging for safety reasons. if you hang it by the lanyard without the sheath on and it swings then your going to have a bad day.

I use the hole if I'm sawing something thick> I put a rope through it and use that end as a hand hold and saw with both hands

Used mine one time the next morning it was covered with rust. And it's impossible to sharpen.
