I went to Egypt and saw all the amazing paintings and carvings. They all had the features of black people... I was kind of shocked because growing up here in America I was under the impression they were white, or at least more middle eastern looking. But that was definitely not the case at all. Just go see for yourself. It's a lot they don't show on television or in the books you all may read.
@DontaviaM Funny, I traveled extensively through Egypt and my impression was quite different. In all the Dynastic art, as well as mummies, you do not see Negroid features. Darker-skinned, yes. But their faces lack the prognathism of Bantu-descended peoples. And many of the mummies were straight-haired blonde. Certainly their faces were more Eurasian than black African. Same for modern-day Egyptians. And all this contrasted greatly to what I observed in travels through sub-Saharan Africa.

They are not black as Nubians neither lightskinned as Syrians and Lybians. Indians has much darker skin then Europans and they are still considered as Caucasian. All I know of her is that beautiful bust in the museum. I don't know how much power she welded as queen or if she really had any power at all. Thanks for briefly bringing her to life for me.
I've just finished reading a novel about her, and she sure was a powerful and beautiful woman. Nefertiti is one of the few significant female figures in ancient egypt, in my opinion more should be researched and written about them (them meaning her, Hapsepsut and Cleopatra)

I went to Egypt and saw all the amazing paintings and carvings. They all had the features of black people... I was kind of shocked because growing up here in America I was under the impression they were white, or at least more middle eastern looking. But that was definitely not the case at all. Just go see for yourself. It's a lot they don't show on television or in the books you all may read.

But their faces lack the prognathism of Bantu-descended peoples. And many of the mummies were straight-haired blonde. Certainly their faces were more Eurasian than black African. Same for modern-day Egyptians. And all this contrasted greatly to what I observed in travels through sub-Saharan Africa.

@sittingbull706 Well answer then why would acient Egyptians portrait themselves as people with light skin if they were black? It is known that they traded with Nubians whom they also hired as mercenaries and guards and Nubians were described as black and they also had black skin on paintings unlike acient Egyptians. Yes, there was actually a time when was Egypt ruled by black pharaons (ca. 700 years BC) but it was temporary and they were overpowered by Assyrians.

@ZZqezza The ancient egyptians NEVER portrayed tTHEMSELVES as light skinnend. They portrayed the arabs as light skinned. They portrayed the greeks as lightskinned. But they never described or would even consider themselves as some form of caucasian. Egypt didnt start to lighten until the hyksos (arabs) invaded in 1675 B.C.

@sittingbull706 I think that the famous fresco (for example) from the tomb of Seti I. shows quite well the colour diferences between Egyptians and the other nations. They are not black as Nubians neither lightskinned as Syrians and Lybians. Indians has much darker skin then Europans and they are still considered as Caucasian. It seems that Egyptians had a very dark skin but they were not black. But to be honest I personally think that this whole egyptian race controversy is kinda pointless:-)

@sittingbull706 You don't understand me. The term "caucasians" shouldn't be taken litterally. In involves not only Europeans with a very light skin but also people of North Africa, Middle East, Middle Asia and India. They have naturally a darker skin but they are still NOT black. Not every Caucasian looks like a typical Swede with blond hair and blue eyes and it still doesn't mean ther him or her is black. But yeah this debate is getting boring since your only arguments are insults. Bye

@ZZqezza The Kemites (Egyptians) were black even Herodotus & many other Greeks wrote about it. The Egyptians were of South East African descent ie Punt (Somalia), Kush/Ethiopia, & the Kenya Uganda Rwanda region. Some of the earliest people were even the Twa & Khoisan which date back to Predynastic Time period & the Zep Tepi. Even if you study African tribes today you will still see the same culture being practiced today. Genetically African Americans are even related to Nile Valley people

@ZZqezza When white tourist come to visit Egypt the native Egyptians call the tourist "Khawaaga" which means foreigner while when African Americans visit Egypt the natives call them "Masri" which means Native Egyptian. The Egyptians had braids & afro's just like many Africans & African Americans do today. The Egyptians were animist just like many African tribes are today. The Egyptians had the ankh just like the Queen of Shebah III carries today along with the crown of Hathor/Isis.

This is quite beautiful! Nice pairing of the song with the clips. I think Queen Nefertiti is still pretty much an enigmatic figure in ancient history. All I know of her is that beautiful bust in the museum. I don't know how much power she welded as queen or if she really had any power at all. Thanks for briefly bringing her to life for me.

I've just finished reading a novel about her, and she sure was a powerful and beautiful woman. Nefertiti is one of the few significant female figures in ancient egypt, in my opinion more should be researched and written about them (them meaning her, Hapsepsut and Cleopatra)

They remade the skull using the measurments and pictures first recorded since the original skull was lost and it was rather long comoaredto the hieght and the resaerches determind the person was of african decent, so Cleopatra did have african blood and probably greek
