What an amazing and surreal way to move, it's like slow motion in real time. Does anyone happen to know what the hand gestures mean in this particular scene?
We don't agree to mix original Manipuri dance!!! (Raasleela has mixed by Manipuris Hinduism and Manipuris Sanamahism are not accepted Raasleela dance) .............warning !!! Raasleela has borrowed from meetei origial cultural dance. :)
this is a very spritual and religious dance of the manipuris,i like it very much.India is a secular country and i hope not to hear such discrimination next time.
Wathijugai claims to be a Meitei and supposed christian, i.e. not representative of true Meities who are either Sanamahi or Vaishnav or a syncretic mixture of both. That is the only reason he dislikes this dance becuase it is Meitei Hindu in origin. Had it been some evangelist creation he would not be able to help himself but shower praise on it.

since when does ballet=leg movement
yes the west places a heavy emphasis on leg movement manipur is different (not better or worse just different) there skirts function to make it appear as if they are floating because the story that is being told is religious.
@vegnavamp i am from manipur, and i find this dance very boring and uninspiring. there is no good meaning in the whole sequence. plain religious gimmick, i would say
