I think he is funny. Russell's just expressing his beliefs to others who may share and think it is funny and laugh along with him. He is a very talented comedian.
But I understand that some people may take offense, as there is a line to cross. It is very hard not to when talking about your opinions. He may have mocked their beliefs, but they didn't respond in kind or retaliate in any way. That is because they understand he doesn't really mean it. It's just comedy. No one should take offense!

If Russell had cracked a joke about any of these people, he would be accused of hate speech and banned from his stand-up routine. I think the real problem is this is an adult comic, making adult jokes, with adult topics and 13 year olds and parents who let their 13 year old children watch this are the ones who don't think it's funny. It bothers me how he misinterprets their purpose.
I'm not a big Jonas Brothers fan, but I do like their decision.
But Russel thinks that they chose not to have sex at all, which is incorrect. The term is abstinence until marriage. So once they're married, they can do whatever the hell they want (as long as it's with that one person.)
Also, it's not JUST for Jesus. It for their parents, and their girlfriend's health, and for them. Sure, he's a comedian, but he made jokes about the wrong stuff.

I think that the main purpose of abstinence is to avoid pregnancy and STDs and other crap. A lot of teenage girls get pregnant due to pre-marital sex. Sure you can practice "safe sex", wear condoms, use birth control, ect-but it's not 100%. The only thing that is 100% is abstinence. It's just smart.
