  • Also the best punter the NFL still has ever seen.

  • Baugh is one of my favorite quarterbacks of all time. Not only was he a great quarterback, he was also an excellent safety, which made him one of the NFL's most unique and talented players.

  • man those goal posts can actually kill a player.

  • honestly what were they thinking with those goal posts at the front of the endzone

  • A Texas Christian University and Redskin great!

  • Hail to the Redskins.

  • still holds the punting record.. wow

  • Yep. He's a legend, without a doubt. I love old footage like this. Takes you back to those good ol' days with very few pads and a bunch of truly rough and tough men, duking it out in a blossoming sport.

  • Gotta love internet bulletin boards. Home of the anonymous haters and jerks. "Old clown"...my &^$. Mr. Baugh was the Montana/Young/Aikman/Farve/Elway/Manning/Bradshaw/Starr/Unitas, pick one, one of his day. We have lost a sports legend. May he rest in peace. Grow up, albanypjm.

  • anyone want to chat

lovin this video!! leave me a comment ch

  • Nobody was as versatile as Slingin Sammy. He caught 4 interceptions and threw four touchdown passes in a single game. He was also one of the greatest punters the NFL has ever known. R.I.P.

  • RIP in sammy.

  • The one and only.

  • The greatest NFL player ever... RIP

  • He was the greatest!

  • He had Alzheimer's. He's better off now.

  • Also I wish to note that the way you conducted yourself off the field with your fans and others is something I always admired and greatly respected. You were a very special person who inspired others and never forgotten the people who supported you. Thank you again Mr.Baugh for being a role model and always caring about your fans. You were ahead of your time with your gridiron performance and even more so with your compassion, kindness, and heart. You will never ever be forgotten. God bless you.

  • RIP Mr Baugh

  • RIP Sammy. THE LEGEND.

  • Thank you Mr.Baugh for being the great person and athlete that you were. Although I only saw you play in b&w video clips, I admired your outstanding football abilities but more important the quality and character of you as a person touched my heart and made me a fan of yours. When I read an article from the Sporting News years ago that mentioned how you welcomed and encouraged fans to call or visit you that spoke volumes about your character. R.I.P. Sammy. You are the greatest. God love you.

  • God speed... before brady, marino, namath, montana, unitas, lane... there was baugh.. the nfl was forged on the back of such stellar stars as he.. i hope the giving him a fitting tribute this sun.

  • Sammy makes me proud to be a Horned Frog.

  • RIP to one of the all time, all around greatest football players. I would have loved to see him play in person.

  • hail

  • He was the greatest Redskin of all time RIP#33

    you will be missed.

  • The greatest there ever was.

  • RIP Sammy. Take care of Sean.

  • SonOfWashington from ES here. RIP Sammy. =(

  • "Old Clown"?

Show some respect, man. He was throwing touchdowns before 80% of the people on youtube (Myself included) were born. Even as a Cowboys fan, I have to admit that he is STILL one of the greatest to ever play the game, to this day. He is easily the best two-way player in the History of football. R.I.P

  • Rest in peace to the greatest player of all time.

  • Rest in Peace Sammy. One of the best to play the game.

  • Baugh...Otto Graham...Johnny Unitas..& Joe Montana..the best QB's ever. Baugh is also the greatest punter of all time..and one of he best

D-Backs of all time...some consider him the best player ever...

  • i said the same thing, people just dont give these guys enough credit

  • I would add Peyton Manning to the list. Peyton reminds me of Sammy a little bit.

  • great athelete..poor guy is in a nursing home now and in bad health.

  • People dont realize that he performed all the greatness all while using perhaps the most unorthodox passing style of any quarterback ever. Instead of holding the ball by the laces and letting the ball roll of his hands, he help it by the skin and sort of pushed it out instead. It was a complicated throwing motion, which is why its all the more remarkable that Baugh was such a great passer. He's one of my favorite players ever, a great hero to look up to.

  • Sammy makes me proud to be a Horned Frog

  • cool you went to TCU

  • One of the best football players of all time. Great QB, great DB, and probably the best punter of all time. He averaged over 50 yards per punt his entire career.

  • Greatest Athlete In Football History.

Best d-man and punter ALONG with Best QB for a number of years.

Although Brown was the greatest runner.

  • The QB position would NOT be heavily regarded as the most important position in football today had it not been for Sammy Baugh.

  • 1937 -1952...

  • I am the worlds greatest Redskin fan, #9 is my hero, but Sammy Baugh was incredible. I'm a little to young (68) to have actually seen him in action, but theNFL channel just named him #1 most versitile player of all time. I agree. I have every Monday morning entire sports section after every Redskin game since 1973!

  • How did you like their color footage of Sammy Baugh playing against who looked like the Detroit Lions? Was that cool or what?

  • Guy had great running skills too, the ultimate athlete

  • one of the greatest Qb's of all time and he is 91 years old now.

  • He was the best ever, the only guy to lead the league in interceptions, punt return average, and touchdowns. So think about in his career he lead the lead in an offense, defense, and special teams category. He also lead the Redskins to NFL championships and won a couple. He also was a great QB also at TCU. So what if this was done in the 30's,40's, and until he retired in 1952, he was great and if you say he sucks then go screw youself.

  • he would set a world record, then break it in the next game!!! he rocked!!!

  • THE greatest.

  • Its weird the granny on the madden commercial is wearing his retired number. i guess she had permission.

  • i used to live next to sammy baugh he lives in a small little town in texas called rotan a very nice guy

  • Hes the greatest QB ever fo the skins.

  • Comment removed

  • Aren't you cool

  • I want to meet Sammy on his ranch and interview him.

  • Slingin' Sammy...one of the greatest!
