If I ever get rid of my current mental problems and get back to my job as a train driver I will definately get me one of these as my work bag. Odds are not good at the moment, though.
Hahahah I laugh at you people who think Sootch00 is "BIG BROTHER" or he is involved in some huge tactical gear reviewing conspiracy theory. Of course the companys send him things to review! What negative things could he have to say about a BAG?! Its 2011, the zippers work, and its not going to rip. Springfield just sent Hickok a XD, he didnt say anything bad! He must be in the illuminatit!! Sootch presents items that us in the tactical community may find interesting, that's it.
What do you think about the CLEAR PLASTIC window for the ¨ID¨ ? ? ? I ask because I have seen lord knows how many different brand bags where those clear plstic windows end up tearing, coming undone at the edge stitching etc...The clear window is my ONLY reservation about this bag, where as the LAST RESORT might be smaller but doesn´t have that clear plstic windown.
Excellent review. I love Maxpedition products - they are worth every penny. This is another great bag. For some people it may be out of their budget, but quality costs more. If you need quality or a bag that will last, go for it. Also keep in mind that the little extra cost, spread out over several years comes to only pennies a day. KEEP ON PREPPING
I have this bag and its great and worth every penny. My only complaint is that it should come with the Concealed Holster like it does in other Maxpedition product.
Well if you can't afford this Maxpedition bag, LA police gear sells what they call their bail out bag which is very similar to this one but it is only 19.99. I picked one up and use it as a one gun range bag. It has most of the same features including the CCW pouch but it is not padded and it is not water proof.
Hi Sootch, I got one of these about 3 weeks ago, nice review, as you say it's an excellent piece of kit, I cant find anything I dont like about it. The only thing i would wish for is US prices :0). Over here it seems to me that they just do a straight swap with the dollar and pound sign- ie if it's a $100 there it's £100 plus here, price aside though you just cant go wrong with maxped kit. Thanks for an excellent Vid justifying my purchase :0).. Have a good day.
I've owned this bag for over a year now and it's my office bag. I carry my 15" MacBook Pro in it and all other office gear I need plus a water bottle and stuff. It's the best EDC bag I've ever owned. Highly recommended if you're an office drone like me :-)
@JoeDurobot I think you can trust the reviews, but you have to take them with the knowledge that price is not a factor in these reviews. Most gear reviews have price or value as part of the review, these can't honestly have a value factor from the point of the reviewer, IMO. That all being said, sootch is free to do what he wants with his channel and I'm going to keep watching it, because it's still good gear and a good guy.
@jhawkdude I agree , but I also wonder if he would have a negative review about a product that was provided for free for the company. From now on I have to see those reviews as commercials, that's just like working for that company.I cant no longer see him as an independent reviewer.
I think he's honest but can you be 100% honest without being 100% independent? I dont think so.
If he says a product sucks then no more free products for him, lets be honest.
@JoeDurobot I can definitely understand where you're coming from with this. It can be a blurry ethical line for an independent review of all free products from one company. Even with the best intentions, you can't really call it an independent review anymore. As I'm sure someone will tell us, we're free to not watch this if we choose; but anyone who posts also must accept criticism, I just hope our criticism has been friendly, constructive, and with no disrespect to sootch.
@jhawkdude No disrespect at all to Sootch. He's a great guy.I have been a subscriber of his for a long time and I love his channel.
I just thought it was good to point out very clearly when a review is independent and when it becomes just a free commercial for the company. That should be very clear in each video where the product is coming from.
Like other channels I watch I need to know how independent the reviewer is to make my own idea on the product.
I defnitely have to agree with what you said at the end sootch00, Ever since I bought my Maxpedition jumbo K.I.S.S pack, it has become my favorite. I may also have to look into that multi purpose bag as well.
Ugh. That bag is way too "busy". I liked the multi purpose a ton better. Forget the water bottle bub. Sit that sucker out in the rainstorm and see what results we get =)
living in florida, i have one of these bags, we use it for hurricane emergency kit,
sometimes we only have a short time to leave, this holds all of the first aid stuff,
clothes, emergency items, candles, batteries, flashlights, radio, water, and things you need for up to a week, its easy to carry, and small enough to travel when needed. thanks Sootch00.
Great review of this excellent product. I own this bag and use it daily as a computer bag and haul it along on my daily commute into the office. In addition, since it has so many pockets and sufficient space, it doubles as my EDC / BOB. The cost has to be compared to the expected longevity or useful life of the product. I expect to use this bag for many years (two years and counting now), so the extra cost (on average) is manageable.
Great review Sootch! I got the Multy Purpose Bag for my tools together with the Maxpedition 'Mungo' for additonal carry. It will keep all my basic gear to drag around Had a plastic case type toolbox before that could not be organized that well. Top bags!
you make me mad sometimes just when I think I'm done spending you come up with some dumb fun review of an awsome looking bag..You have really cost me alot of money ...I can't tell you how many things I've bought cause of your awsome reviews .Well looks like I'm gonna be in debt for a while but atleast I'll be happy... JK I really love the vids, glad your out there...
I have this bag in Khaki. Holds my laptop along with my appraisal gear, a Nalgene (required in this South Georgia summer weather) as well as my CCW. Didn't think I'd like the top load design but have grown to love it. On a recent week long trip the main compartment not only held my laptop on one side of the divider but my son's on the other. I have several Maxpedition bags and have found them to be great products. Thanks for the review Sootch!
Of course I have an Infant son who thinks he should help when dad's on the iPhone. Or maybe dad should put 8 month down before comments. I think you did an excellent review. I like to use one as my duty bag for a while as you said with all that we carry. I believe it would fit. Thanks for the review. Sorry about the little guy helping me. Take care
Great review as always Sooch, thank you. I've been looking through Maxpedition's website and with all of the choices it's hard to decide what to get. Your reviews give me a good idea of size and practicality of their products and will help me make a good decision.
@JoeDurobot Maxpedition is the best bags on the market... period. If I find fault I say it because a lot of people buy these with my recommendation and I receive a lot of feedback. ALL of it is positive. I use these bags for a couple of months before I do the video review as well. I thanked Max for providing the bag for review but if you think this motivates me to spend the time and energy to put this review together, you are mistaken. I don't need another bag. These are by request from viewers.
@sootch00 Especially with such a positivie review of the product you SHOULD tell in your video that the bag was provided by the company and that you didnt have to pay for it.
You are no longer an independent reviewer when you do that and your viewers need to know that.
Sure maybe you like the product and find no negative point but would you say something if you didnt like the product since it was provided for you? Im not so sure.
The viewers need to know its a commercial, be honest.
@JoeDurobot I said that Maxpedition provided the bag... very clearly. Before you start criticing my review you may want to buy one and see for your self. It's an awesome bag. Period.
@sootch00 Ok im sorry I did miss that, its easy to miss in a 11 minutes video. You should be more clear about it and say in the description of the video that you got the product from the company for free in order to make a review for them.I dont think im the only one who missed it when I see some comments asking how you can afford so many Maxpedition products.
Its just not 100% clear that its a commercial and not an independent review.
@JoeDurobot I've been on the fence about this, and I see where you're coming from. I think sootch is a good guy, and definitely an honest guy. I believe these packs are extremely high quality, and I know he's just getting the gear reviews out there. But as an individual, I highly doubt he would have purchased all those bags on his own (at least in such a short period of time) and that can be a bit of a put off for me. Quality is a high priority, but so is price for many of us (continued...)
@JoeDurobot Joe I am with you 100%. I like Sootch & feel he is much more "one of us guys:" then most. But MAXPEDITION floods these Reviewers w/ Gear and most never disclose this fact. Sure, it is good stuff. What guy is gonna rip them apart when they get $200 bags every month? We need full disclosure. Tell us that MAXPEDITION just sent me a bag and I think... Not " I just picked up a new Maxpedition Bag and here is what I like. (NOTE Sootch did say this was provided at the end of video)
very good looking bag, might have to get me one. just another point, if the inside is 15 1/2" by 11 1/2", you can probably fit up to a 19" laptop in there
I have yet been able to justify myself the extra cost of a Maxpedition bag, they seem great, but quite costly. Sure, some people would benefit from the quality, but for most people, something like a simple LA Police Gear $20 Bail Out Bag would be sufficient. No doubt Maxpedition has benefited greatly from your reviews, no wonder they keep sending you gear. I hope one day to own one, but as an average Joe, it'll be a while before I can justify that cost.
@jhawkdude I owned a couple of LA Police Gear bags and they are good bags. To be honest, for the money, they are great. Maxpedition is a whole other world so it's up to what you're wanting. The quality of Maxpedition is the best on the market.
@jhawkdude I agree, most of their stuff are made in Taiwan and it might be good quality but it's over priced compared to other products always made in Asia that you can find on the market.
@jhawkdude Those LA Police Gear bags are very good quality. I have a BOB which I use for the range and every day carry. I have some smaller Maxpedition items and they are awesome. I hear ya on the prices though.
@Grubkat I love a high quality product as well, so I probably will own a Maxpedition at some point. But when I'm looking at 1 Maxpedition bag for the price of 6 or 7 LA Police Gear bags, no thanks. Is a Maxpedition really 7 times better than a LAPG?
@jhawkdude you can sell this bag on ebay in 5 years for about 60% of its price.. the 20$ bag will be in tatters. If you're on a crowded subway in a foreign country and a strap breaks, noone's gonna pick up your 1500$ laptop and give it back, your stuff will be gone within seconds.
@TheSuperqdawg Absolutely, when "failure is not an option," go ahead and spend the extra on a higher quality bag. For most of us though, something like this would serve as a range bag, an overnight bag, a carry bag from home to work, situations where a broke strap (still rare for a LAPG bag, in my experience) is manageable.
For me, resale value is not a deciding value, I have no intentions of re-selling my bags. Not to mention, that 40% depreciation may equal 3-4 LAPG bags.
Perfect for my brother since he always forgets things when we go shooting. Of course in the clear pouch he will need a schematic showing him where the items are in the bag....or he'll just think he left them at home.
If I ever get rid of my current mental problems and get back to my job as a train driver I will definately get me one of these as my work bag. Odds are not good at the moment, though.
