LOL at Brian at the beginning of the video, in deep thought. Must have been reminiscing about the good old days locked in his bed, wasted and listening to this 700 times a day. BTW, he has had some good image management recently, and its work to rehabilitate his image. But the fact that his handlers try to semi-hide is that Bri is basically a non-functioning person permanently. He fried himself beyond the point of no return a LONG time ago. When not singing, he looks catatonic.
Brian is so brilliant. It's a shame his mind is so far gone now. We get the occasional flash of his old self, usually just enough to make us wish we were there in the early and mid 1960's when he was in his prime. The same thing that made him so brilliant made vulnerable and delicate. Be thankful that he's still with us. We won't get those flashes from Amy Winehouse anymore, ever.
Sometimes Brian seems normal and sings normal., other videos I see he looks like he talks with Multiple Sclerosis and talks all slurred and stuff. But he is still my hero, alwyas.
he is not playing keyboard at all here, the volume is turned off, it is just a prop for him. He had mental problems before and here his problems don't allow him to both play AND sing.
@Atomicflash500 Forget about the piano, This a story of redemption. A tortured genius back against all odds to sing a touching, heartfelt version of his favourite song in the world. Brian is truly back, and who could desire any more.
@Atomicflash500 When he first started touring with the Wondermints, he needed the security of the keyboard. They decided he should concentrate more on the lyrics and his vocals and not have to worry about getting the keyboard perfect. His voice sounds great here!
@dcowboys107 What actually suprised me when I saw Brian Wilson live in concert last year at the Canyon in Agoura Hills, CA was that he played the keyboard on nearly every song where he was sitting at it.
big fan but why is brian not playing the piano???

I can hear the notes he played on the keyboard... sounds like he was playing keyboard bass...

is he actually playing the keyboard or is it a prop for him to feel comfortable behind?
dcowboys107 2 years ago
Both, but mostly to make him feel comfortable nowadays. He does sometimes take a little solo on it every now and then though.
