I can't believe they took the lorry out in that weather, all dustcart drivers know the backstreets are never salted and are an accident waiting to happen.
@WheelieMacBin We always go out, only one time stayed in for 2 days because of snow, this driver can't drive on snow, HE is the accident waiting to happen. I never had an accident in that kind of weather, just need to take it slow...
@kakarotvegeta - To be honest, us drivers have the easy ride in that weather, it is the poor loaders who suffer most. Last winter there were broken bones from slips and falls. One unfortunate loader slipped on ice and cracked a bone in his back, and was off work for six months.
good bit of driving that...well done mr dustbin man for braving the snow and emptying our bins on a nasty day like that......when most office staff couldnt get their bmw/merc 4x4 of there snow dusted streets and be arsed to walk 20 mins to work...you came out in your 45 ton lorry and did your bit !! shame on you poofy fat arsed men and women who stayed off work when it snows
@TheKulkematon I drive these things and for the most they have an automatic gearbox with 3 selections - R N & D, so no chance of pulling off in a higher gear! And yes, you need to floor it to melt the ice with a burnout.
ive worked on bin wagons and the ones i was one had the steer axle on the back which are just as bad the midlifts like on that one so when you get stuck you've had it cos the drive wheels cant get traction and secondly the auto gearboxes on them arent good for the sort of conditions as you cant pull off in a higher gear to avoid all that happening cos the amount of times weve got stuck on the tips in all the mud rubbish with them
hehehehe, so close to wiping out that shop front with the tail end of the truck.
The driver needs to chill out on his accelerator once he just gets over the hump, he could have cleaned a car out right as it was a bit hasty once he got out of the street, quite comical at the same time!
that happened to me once too, managed to get some grit to free myself ,just as i started moving some old prat came out with his recycling and said i thought you was not coming today can i wait as he had more,,,,
wouldnt it have been easier to put all the wheels down to get more purchase or not please let me know
