  • god damm, in the uk fuel is £1.32p a LITER thats crazy we pay £1 roughly $1.4 in import tax :(

  • im 14 turning 15 and when i get my motorcycle license im hoping to go on a long trip with my friend for about 3 - 4 days how much money do you think i would need and i have a ninja 250r wich gets good gas millage

  • @player549 With the 250 Ninja...I would be guessing, if you camp out, you should budget $120-$150

  • $150/day is way too much. $80/day camping??? No way dude. Try like $40.

  • @craniumdesigns Mebbe if u ride a moped, travel 80 miles a day and eat only Ramen...

  • My wife and I are planning a trip through Northern BC. To Prince Rupert then down to Vancouver Island and back by way of Whistler then back home to Northern Alberta. Thanks for the tips.

  • geez these videos are priceless, seriously mate thx for sharing that with us grunts

  • Whats the furthest distance you've ridin in one day?love the vids I hope to have some up soon if I can make a mount for my camera,if you could make a vid on makeing a good mount both bike and helmet would be very helpfull...I know Im younger rider but been riddin since 04' and im still only on my second bike, first was 03'zuki bandit 600s,now im ridin 96'BMW K1100RS which is way better in every way except one the zuki sound I miss so much, ride safe brother..

  • @THEOZ2106 I think my longest was about 700 miles...Google "ram camera mount" and you should be able to find almost any type of motorcycle camera mount out there..I've been planning on doing a vlogging camera set up series, but I've not gotten around to it just yet =)..mebbe I'll work on it this weekend...

  • @billmaa Aww shucks, that's only 7 Hrs doing 100. XD JK I wouldn't do that >>. That must've been a long ride. Those bicycle shorts must've helped A LOT. :)

  • srry about my very late response i was talking about that the fuel was going so hard even harder than a car i know its hard for you to say oooo its that :P:P

but i thought i cought sure try it

    keep riding and posting

  • Great vid. THX a lot. I hope I will use your planning "guide" soon this season. :)

  • @Tugar747 Thank you, If your interested, I also have a "How to pack" for a mototrip as well...I appreciate the comment

    Take care

  • Excellent series Billy! Just finished watching all 3 ep :)

It wont be as big as yours n tracys trips but planing a trip now between Munich and Zurich for May so this came in handy real nice :))

    Keep the great work up!

  • @KTMsmurf Thanks Smurf, Keep those cameras rolling my friend, I wanna see this trip =)

  • Good stuff, man. Thanks for putting that out there. There's a lot of factors most people don't remember to consider when they plan a trip like this. I know it kind of goes unsaid, but, personally, I'd probably add into the budget (and luggage space, unless people prefer to mail that stuff) something for souvenirs. And also emergency fundage, or at least a back-up credit card in case something happens.

  • Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... I am seriously eyeballing that 2010 Multistrada. It's the only touring/adventure bike that makes me happy in my pants the way the 1098 did when it first came out. I am going to pay off the 1098 first (hopefully by the end of this year, assuming everything goes to plan). :)

  • @sekhmet1098 Oooooh, Monkey Strada...that would be alot fun =)

  • Thanks, Billmaa! That was a very professionally done video! I too like to camp and ride; but I agree that on a long distance trip, they don't mix well. Too much time is taken up at the end of the day as well as the start of the day. That time needs to be budgeted in as well, and it's hard to budget in breaking down camp in the rain. There is just nothing I like better than packing up a wet tent.......

  • @really2ugly Yeah, mebbe if was 18 again I could pull it off..but there is something about a nice shower at the end of a long ride that makes the pain go away..=)

  • @DJCipster4BREAKS Trust me after a while you will be begging for a shower. (unless your on a camping sight)

  • Nice video and really good info

  • @WarfareTartaros Thanks my friend

  • Jeez, finally. I've had my route all mapped out, and my bags have been packed for quite some time now. I just didn't know what to do after that. lol Great video, great intro. And those were a lot of porter potties outside of Taco Bell there.

  • @frankyfong36 Sorry to keep you waiting..Lol..

  • nice vid i hope 2 go touring next year and all of your info helped me alot.

i may life at the other side of the world or almost :P but the prices are around the same here but then its in euros of course

btw my buddy has bought a 2005 honda cbr 600 rr en his bike uses more than his car XD but he isnt leaking any fluids any suggests what it could be

    thnx

  • @TheMoonsuki88 it's hard to say what the CBR issue is..are you talking about fuel or oil?

  • this was really well done. Props big time man. This is going to help out lots of people

  • @bikercc Thank you, I appreciate the feedback

  • Loved the opening Billy. As always great vid.

  • @tdad71302 Thank you, I used it in the other two so it just seemed to fit..

  • Thanks for the update, We are planning a two week vacation around Scotland in June so your videos come in handy (as always)

Just need to decide which bike I should take, Yamaha Diversion 900 or Triumph Sprint 900.

    Cheers and stay safe.

  • @cjhurrell Hmmm, tough choice between the two bikes..haha good luck on your trip..

  • @DJCipster4BREAKS I love camping, and love motorcycling.. But everytime i've mixed them, it doesn't turn out as well as I hoped lol..thanks for commenting Cip

  • @jnt4life Its something just started a few months ago.. Thanks John

  • Great Job on these videos Billmaa. I love the editing. 5 stars..errrr Thumbs up!! :)

  • @phantomx2003 Thanks my friend.. Lol, the thumbs up is kinda silly :)

  • "if grandmothers worth a dam ya get food too" hahaha that was funny

  • @speedemon103 Well yanno, some grammas might be lazy

  • Another very good series B! Hope I can use your tips soon, GL & Ride Safe.

  • @cdwolf Thanks Phred

  • Excellent info Billy. I had been thinking I'd bring up AMA on a vid. Glad to see you mention them here. Besides road side assistance, there are some retailers that will give members a discount. I figure I've earned back my $39 just in savings from buying gear online with the AMA discount.

    Anyway, great vid!

  • @RC62 I completely agree Rob, I didn't want to make this 20 minute video, but there are tons of good stuff the AMA can hook you up with =)

  • Hey Billy. Another good video!

Question though, what do you bring in terms of locks? I wouldn't want to randomly park my expensive stuff in a dodgy parking lot without proper security!

  • @dazzelya We bring a long Kryptonite cable lock and lock our bikes together...but when riding solo, I locked the bike to something else that wouldn't move..But the expensive stuff, ie cameras, GPS, laptop...I bring inside with me..

  • Thanks for making this series Billy. Alot of valuable info in there.

  • @Gargalesis7 Thank you... This kinda feedback is why I do this kinda stuff..I appreciate it..

    Billy

  • I'm such a cheap bastard, my food bill would be like $8.oo to $10.00 a day. I don't eat breakfast :-) Good job thats about how i plan my road trips & it works every-time.

  • @NamesLeo Lol, you could totally do it on 8-10 bucks day..but I think my stomach would cave in itself eatin on dollar menus and gas station burritos. =) Thanks for the comment

  • $2.80 per gallon! In the UK it's currently sitting at $8.4 per gallon (just over £5). My money is being stolen! Now i'm sad :(

  • @dinkoman Ouch..sorry mate

  • You have no idea how helpful this series is!!! Or maybe you do...either way, you ROCK!!!

  • @krayziesensei Thank you, I appreciate the kind words..I'm glad it could help you out..

  • As said already very nice intro man... Planning is half the fun!! How's the new Kawi?

  • @db6163 Thanks DB...I can't wait to get out on the road for a few weeks summer...The kawi is dream to ride..I'm in motolust =)

  • That's one of the best intros I've seen since I started watching videos on YouTube.

  • @HasJuice Thank you..I really appreciate the compliment

  • whos it the hayabusa u are ur firends?

  • @stratomaster5 Yeah, it's my best buds bike

  • Sthweet - Truly dig on your videos. Sure do wish there was a way to purchase a copy of the DVD's you put together ;)

  • @jdog1129 Thank you, I gave some out as part of a contest I had (I still need to mail em..) but I think it's more fun to give em away than sell em.. Someday, I might think about it :)

  • @billmaa Cool Beans

  • Ride safe!

  • @jasongiddensviper478 Thanks Jason

  • take a nap at truck stops = free + showers

  • @daedalx Lol, I like your style man..hobo motorcyclin'

  • Great series, Billy. Looks like you and Trace are gearing up for your next big adventure. Safe travels :)

BTW... had to put the kibosh on the business trip to Lincoln, so I'll see you @ Possum Pie!

  • @L0udP1p35 No worries, I'll see ya in the Ozarks

  • Haha at last :-) Good stuff either way man. I cant wait to see a new trip series from you. Alaska? :-)

  • @bfmv580 I know, I know =)...We're going to the west coast this summer...not making it to Alaska until I have a good few months more will healing up the knee =(

  • Thanks Billy.Have you ever encountered hotels that unofficially don't cater for motorcyclist and can you recommmend somewhere to stay close to Bonneville.

Am heading off for the day now and camping overnight.

  • @RedanWhiteRebel I stayed near the Salt Flats last year. A couple of miles west of there on the Nevada side are a ton of hotel casinos that can be had on the cheap. That's your best bet in the area.

  • @BusasaurusRex. That's great thanks a mill Busa.

  • Totally agree with the working out thing. Squats and ab work go miles to improving your long distance capability. Not to mention that losing 15 LBS would net roughly the same performance improvement as switching to an after market exhaust.

  • @Kodiak31415 That's true, I usually do a lot of shoulder and lat work as well..because even the best helmet can feel really heavy after 10 hours..Thanks for the comment

  • Good to see you tidying up loose ends there Billy. Thanks for the series - super useful.

  • @houltmac Thanks, I had this on my computer for over two months..=)

  • I spent about $120-150/day on that trip to New Mexico I just did, pretty much in line with your figures. How many miles a day do you typically ride?

When I get a topbox for my bike I'm going to consider taking a small tent and using it one night in three, it wouldn't take long to pay for the tent.

Last question, have you stayed in hostels? I did that a lot when I was stationed in England, but never have in the USA.

    Keep up the good work.

  • @JimNtexas Tracy and I average 400-500 miles a day...mostly because I love to film most everything. I had a tent, sleeping pad and bag..it was close to $300 for the high tech small "hiking stuff" I used it only one time..and the next morning, I was so unrested from sleeping on the ground that I didn't wanna to ride the next day..as far as hostels..I've seen them on most every street corner of the major cities in Europe & Australia..but not in the states, I've not had a chance Thanks Jim

  • 10 days to visit all the states? Last summer I drove from Los Angeles to Chicago with a tour group, and that took us 14 days. 3 of the days were days with no to little motorbike riding. I came all the way from Norway to experience riding the mother road, and it was great!

  • @lasive Not quite my friend, the 10 days was just a pretend ride that I was talking about in in the first part of this series, as an example of how to plan...This is our 5th riding season of trying to get all 50 states, and we're still a few short =)

  • @billmaa Aha! That makes more sense. Been a while since the first part of the series, so you must forgive me. I like the ambition and the project! Ride safe.

  • @lasive No worries, I appreciate all comments..

    Take care

  • @billmaa Really? Cuz u suck! haha! No just kidding...

  • @lasive Lol, don't I know it..

  • @lasive It *can* be done if you're crazy enough. I have planned a route that would take me to all 49 continental states in 10 days. Crazy? Yes. Near impossible? Yes. I've definitely given it consideration and one of these days I'll give it a go. :D Total mileage for that is going to be around 10,000 if I remember right.

  • @BusasaurusRex OK! I believe you. Maby you could do it on a Hayabusa? Or perhaps, ONLY on a Hayabusa? You'll obviusly need a quick bike, lol

  • I wish we had a good road side assistance provider for bikes ova heyah, it would give me way more peace of mind haha.

  • @8cuttlefish8 I needed a few years ago and I won't leave home without it..=)

  • Perfect timing. It's about that time again. Hmmm...I wonder what a "Just go with the shirt off your back" trip would be like. BWoM style with some vlogs as I reach certain locations. I'm sure it's going to cost way more but I'm kinda excited about trying it. Maybe just bring cellphone with GPS, and tire plugger. Oh and a sharpie. Of course wallet with stuff in it. Oh and vloggin stuff. Wait maybe at least a back pack. Doood! I'm diggin this get up and go thing/idea you just gave me.

  • @Itsreload I think go run would be alot of fun, but I have such limited time off (and a set goal of all 50 states) that I have to plan a bit..but I do really like the idea..=)

  • WOW $2.88? lucky guy!

the only planning I do for a trip is slippahs or sneakers

should I bring a beach towel?

  • @hawaiisidecar I lived on Oahu for 3 years, I know that $2.88 is not bad at all =)

  • I was wondering, will jogging going to help me out if i want to be able to handle my bike as a starter? and if not, is the gym a better idea?

  • @DeepSolidHeart Any kinda of conditioning would help, but gaining more strength could be beneficial to a new rider especially because they are not used to pushing a bike out of parking spots, driveways etc..

  • Yay! Part Three! Now I can go on my moto trip!!! :D

  • @808yewtube Haha, sarcasm Mrs 808? =)

  • @billmaa I never leave home without it. :)

  • Good info there Billy. Thanks man.

  • @theSMYRNAcowboy Thanks Dave

  • great vid! that $1200 is hatin! would it be possible to ride across America with $100? anyway i love to start traveling by motorbike but i just bought a 100cc enduro so i don't think thats happening... unless i join the 555 lol..

  • @apricotsnms516 I don't think you could do it for 100bucks..on a scooter with some power bars, you might get a few states..=)

  • I would also like to add, thats pretty expensive, but taking holidays into consideration anyway, it works out about the same! If not cheaper! Though riding the UK may be cheaper then the US lol! (size wise you see hehe)

  • Awesome :D I was wondering when Mr. part three would show up in my sub box. "LIKE" (I liked 5 staring, liking is "alright").

  • @hughes111 I think "liking" is dumb..I want my stars back...but whatever, the whole new video channel design is a step backwards I think...Thanks for the comment Nick

  • Whoa this was unexpected. :)

  • @ToastToGo Haha, I forgot to get this finished

  • Good stuff Billy. Going to use all parts of this series to plan my trip to AZ. Thanks for putting the series together :)

  • @davidhowellca Thanks David, sorry it took me so long..=)

  • woah, a bit late for a part 3 of a series from a year ago, no? hahaha

  • @Iroquois14 It was January! This year! Haha

  • FINALLY!!!

  • @biglandfarm Lol..sorry it took me so long =)

  • So the dancin girls are free? ;{D

  • @gaijin1200 Haha, I think it depends on where ya go =)

  • LOL good timing ={D

  • @gaijin1200
