  • my absolute favorites wish they would do a tour together some day.. or better jet have guthrie come aswell like chriscaldoza said

  • Paul, take off the fuckin headphones when you're not using them you look ridiculous

  • wow, I know their music are difference way, but i like both...

  • howe bajó su nivel para no sobrepasar a gilbert

  • No comente pendejadas, un musico siempre toca lo que debe tocar, eso de niveles es mierda intelectual

  • CAMPAIG

    GILBERT & HOWE

    DVD NOW!!!

    An album and live dvd!!!

  • mmg terbaik!!

  • i just wanna say...AWWWWWW!!!! howe and gilbert 2 thumbs up and added with 2 thumbs at my feet!!! GREAT BLUES!!!

  • Greg plays a smooth bluesy fusion while Paul plays a classic ostinado metal shreds!

  • naaa esrto es increibleeeee

  • Nice !

  • Howe uses Laguna

  • As much as Greg rocks, he looks like a turtle here.

  • 3:22 is the best part....paul has such taste....what great guitarists!

  • i'd die happily watching these two amazing guitarists

  • i've listened to some greg howe and thought he was great, but never really GOT in to him.... paul is and has been my guitar god for over 2 years now, but i think greg had better phrases on this track--i need to listen to him more!!!! amazing jam by both

  • @winrar Greg is my no.1 guitar hero. Try these tracks: Dance, Jump Start, Song for Rachelle, Divided World, and for the craziest solo ever heard in the history of all things guitar, try Stringed Sanity. These tracks are quite varied styles of Greg, so I think its a good intro to his work, and what hes capable of, enjoy !

  • 2 of my favorite guitarplayers

  • would be awesome if these two put an album out together

  • DUDE!!! My most influential guitar Gods on stage together....damn.-nuff said.

  • all you the above coments are GAY!!!!!!! YOU CANT BE LIKE THEM THATS ALL YOUR FAULTS!!!!!!! LOSERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • GREG HOWE the most simpliest guitarist i ever watch..

just simple...i like that.....an like paul gilbert....

  • Everyone is a fucking expert, shut up and just listen!

  • two of my favourites guitar players

    but i have to say

no one can play this song like jimi did

  • i bet there are so many people that have these two guys as their two favorite guitar players. they are really a dynamic duo and whoever saw this is lucky as.... well there really isn't an expression that could possibly justify how lucky you were

  • Both are great guitarists from the 80's. Paul came out in 1985, Greg in 1988. Greg is actually 3years older than Paul. I picked up the guitar 17years ago because of Paul. But Greg was actually the one that revived my interest in guitar when I almost gave up playing. Thanks to these guys.

  • I have no comments on Paul about this one. He's always great in anything he plays.Man Howe sure knows how to spice up the word "Phrasing".

    Arpeggios at 7:22 rocked

  • Jaw dropping!!!! And Gilbert playing a hollow body? Cool stuff.

  • so good

  • Thanx for the upload...both guitarists are amazing and not that it really matters, but Frank Gambale pretty mucn trailblazed and popularized string skipping in the early 80's....Other notable entries include Uli Jon Roth, Eric Johnson, and Lenny Breau. Keep Rocking!!!

  • @osiruskat Tal Farlow, early bebop guitar great, & idol of Lenny Breau, was using hammer-ons, pull-offs, string-skipping, sweep-picking, tapping, natural & artificial harmonics, even feedback using the vibration of his jazz guitar's carved arch-top, in 1949 at the latest. (They were all used sparsely: Straight alternate picking was best suited to cleanly play most of the bebop lines in Farlow's repetoire. But Tal did it all, and did it well.)

  • @lazur1 You are correct sir. check out (if you haven't already) the jam between Tal and lenny breau. Tal's music is amazing.

  • Paul did more pointing than playing!

  • @ThePathofHavoc Paul tends to lay back when playing with other players.

  • He does indeed. It's really refreshing that such a dominating player can be so humble. Not that Greg isn't dominating in his own right.

    Cheers.

  • @ThePathofHavoc True that! Greg is incredible.

  • i dont know greg howe but nice awesome...

  • greg is back from the 80s with the likes of marty friedman, paul gilbert, richie kotzen, the late 80s shred gods

  • oh, so he is a veteran guitarist... i thought he is one of those new born guitar player...

  • saying Greg Howe as a shred god is like reducing him to just only capable of ultra fast shred up and down neck like most of the shredders.

yes, he obviously can shred, but he's much more than that. Greg is one of the best fusion jazz players and has amazing phrasing, timing, and everything else a guitarist can ask for, he invented techniques such as slide vibrato and hammer-ons-from-no-where and which style, and techniques has been copied with new generation players

  • and yes it is.

  • Nicely said.saying Greg is incredible is an understatment for sure.I started taking lessons from him around 93-94 for a few years then went back to him after the NSYNC thing for a while..He amazed everytime and moved my playing every lesson. He's even more a better teacher.I miss him since he moved to the west coast

  • same goes for paul. he knows how not to shred

  • @dmnxCGi I dunno, the hammer-ons from nowhere, EVH was doing that and he probably got that from someone else, and as far as sliding a whole tone back and forth, that's probably existed before. All in all Paul Gilbert and Greg Howe are fantastic players.

  • EVH got it from Jeff Beck, who was doing all this before Hendrix. Any guitarist will know Beck was (is) the ultimate rock god, before even he knew it, and never got it.

  • @skiinscubaout He wasn't doing it as upfront and straight forward as Jimi was doing it, Jeff Beck says so himself in an interview talking about Jimi Hendrix. Truth was an alright record, never knew Rod could sing like that, pegged him as just a pop guy, but I like his later stuff, and I'd rather listen to Led Zeppelin I than Truth.

  • @xXNeoShredderXx OK, granted regards Hendrix, but tapping, for example, began a long time before 1979. Still, I agrree with you that even now, I find Beck's music hard to listen to flat out, but I can easily sit down with Eric Johnson or Petrucci with Liquid Tension Experiment playing in the background. Damn, must be getting old... :)

  • @skiinscubaout Yea, I heard jazz guys were doing it for a long time, about tapping. And sweep picking was done in country music before metal even became a certified genre. I didn't think of Truth hard, I thought it wasn't hard enough. It was probably the hardest thing of the British Blues boom but then Jimi, Led Zep and Cream took it even farther. Like it's not even close. Peter Green and Jimmy Page sound world's apart, even though they're using some of the same notes, and had similar heroes.

  • @skiinscubaout And don't worry about it, if you can listen to Eric Johnson and John Petrucci, you can't be all bad. :)

  • two people that invented two new techniques on the guitar. String skipping and the double barre

  • Not sure who invented the double barre, but string skipping predates these guys by centuries.

  • still i'm pretty sure i would not be string skipping in my bedroom with my guitar if it weren't for paul

  • Yes, he's an awesome player, and I can appreciate his influence on you. Just sayin he didn't invent the technique.

  • a MONSTERS ! they are killing me everytime i hear him ... especialy GREG HOWE !!!

  • Both are such humble and great musicians! Great!!

  • both are adept musicians and the performance is awesome.

  • Gilbert is the One for me, but howe seems to have an extensive musical language..

  • WEAPONS!!! Love it!

  • Love the respect Gilbert gives Howe in the beginning 'Man...you wanna turn down a bit.....ya goin to show me up!!""

  • Yea, This a song called Red Hou.... wait no it's not. Its Hey Joe

  • Paul is the funniest guitar hero around. Really cool guy.

  • Two giants of the guitar world just doing what they do best and loving every minute of it.

    Fantastic.

  • nobody plays like howe, he is simply amazing

  • amazing Greg, and Howe. Pauls voice is amzing

  • Hendrix could be very modest for a rockstar. He endorsed and tried to draw attention to a lot of other great players. He spoke highly of Larry Coryell, John McLaughlin, Terry Kath, and Johnny Winter...to name just four. He just wanted to play a role in the evolution of guitar playing.

  • OMG.. two of the best players in the world.. very influencial guitarists. wanna see guthrie in there too!

  • howe's taste and phrasing is just phenomenal!!!

  • damn damn damn this is one the most influential vids i have seen, all i wanna do is practice until my fingers bleeedd!!!!

  • Que espectaculares Guitarristas..¡¡¡¡ Greg y Paul son lo máximo..¡¡¡¡

  • if hendrix it were only still alive, it would have been fantastic to feel them to sound all and three together.

  • call me crazy, but i just don't think that Hendrix would've gotten into Neo-Classical Metal and gone on tour with Paul Gilbert, even though it would be cool

  • As a musician Hendrix would have appreciated it as a new facet of guitar playing....

  • I would love to think that. I'm quite sure he would appreciate it.

  • this song is called "greg howe"? ajojao

  • Greg is the guitarist who plays with Paul..

  • howe has some incredible chops

  • for me this is like a dream come true to see these two guitarists play together... (even on youtube but still lol) thanks for posting!

  • two of d best guitarists of all time. both alumnos of successful '80s speed metal bands and has since evolved into very complete guitar players. i cud listen to these 2 guys for hours and hours.

  • I cherish all the one on one lessons I had with Greg..he's an incredible teacher as much as he is an incredible player

  • Greg definately gets the "cool" win here, great duet

  • man i would die to jam with them.. even if i end up playing the fucking cowbell lolol

  • I dont know why i never noticed before, but Paul has created a much more rich and classy style for him self, yet he can still rip out his old racer x licks any day.

Paul gilbert and Greag howe playing Hey Joe should be a flavor of Ice cream. Wooohooo!

  • funny greg howe is kinda like that too lol

  • what do you mean by classy...like more melodic rather than shredding?

  • Yes

  • They are among the few musicians I would pay to see jam

  • Damn, ibanezbloke - you are a disgrace to Ibanez owners everywhere, speaking like that! You think you can do better than Paul can? Hang your head in shame, and then hang your OWN damn ibanez up - wait, no, just hang yourself somewhere! Paul Gilbert is amazing, as is Greg Howe, and Im even willing to bet I would take you to school! Have some respect for the masters, and appreciate the different qualities of all of them!

  • Addio.

  • WOW..!!!

  • incredible!!! paul and greg together!!!!

  • I remember buying Greg's "Greg Howe" on vinyl and Racer X's "Street Lethal" in the same week back in '88- and now look at them.

    Awesome :)

  • Freakin' dream team, dudes! :D

  • awesome!!!

  • greg's playing is sicker than ever.. he never stops developing as an intelligent musician and will still progress and impress even more

  • I live very near to Bologna

i didn't know they played together in Bologna...

i'm just 1 hour by car from Bologna

  • I live in canada.

  • i live in athens

  • profesional player..!!!but i lov jason becker...

  • Comment removed

  • What? And why would you bring Becker into this?

  • Man Gregs playing is so aggressive on this, its fucking awesome.

Im a Gilbert fan, but Greg takes the crown for me

  • Raga ma sti due spaccano la terra a metà... Due geni e mi incacchio se parlate male di Gilbert :D

  • Greg - using the Axe-FX live?

  • Greg is a total monster. He easily throw Gilbert's boring sequence licks right back at him at full speed. I've loved his playing for more than 20 years! He is truly head and shoulders above his peers. Fantastic playing!

  • 2 Genius, alot of learn from these two!!!!

Howe is amazing, simply the best out there!!! Gilbert is cool and another monster!

  • they rock!!

  • That was intense

  • haha your dumb

  • paul gilbert looks like a great person... and greg too... i love them both... keep rockin' bros from athens!!!

Greg should play in the G3! joe, paul and greg would be a great band.

ok vai should be in this band too. G4 ;)

  • Govan/Gilbert/Howe

  • Howe/Timmons/Gambale (Govan would be cool too, but he's only got one album :))

  • It's a shame isn't it?

  • Yeah it is, he's got tremendous skills, cntrols every technique untill ultimate perfection, very melodic playing too, a bit like Howe in that respect! I'd love another GG Album!!

  • dream of many ppl ;)

  • omfg, 2 masters jamming... continuing each other's phrasing.. it's amazing, thanks for the vid!

  • you 2 are the man

  • I tell you guys something, Paul Gilbert is a fantastic player, but he's a little too diatonic. When Greg starts hitting all those outside notes that's what really grabs my ear.

  • exactly the same here...

    Greg has the mojo!

  • lol wow i seriously didn't think any one was at that level.

both are great but i have to agree hes to Diatonic

another thing thats getting me bored is his(rather their) interval's their pretty predictable. maybe cause ive been listening to them both for so long.

i swear there should be Howe,Gilbert,Kotzen or Govan screw it Ben Lacy all 800 other great musicians G800 longest jam ever will be about 23....hours
