  • I swear I thought it was real

  • This is insanely great. Makes me feel so nostalgic. Amazing work!

  • ...So fucking good.

  • Great work.

One small thing I noticed at the end:

There seems to be a little too much parallax on the planets surface. Try to move it further away and then scale it to the appropriate size.

    Really impressive man!

  • Superb. How can anyone hit the dislike button on this?

  • wow i thought this was real for a moment, great job buddy :)

  • i just spent five minutes trying to figure out which movie you took this scene from...

thats just how brilliant this is. hope you have more to come :)

  • wow, this is amazing, had a very kind of "film" feel to it

  • Beautiful and very fitting music. Where is the music from exactly`?

  • I didn't know the conference room looked out over the aft of the ship!

  • This looks like it was filmed live on sets with CGI elements, not rendered entirely. Absolutely stunning. The glasses in the briefing room, and the HDR response to the lights in the captain's yacht bay blew me away. I can't imagine how much work went into this, but I can guess. Time well spent.

  • Wow! The most impressive video I've ever seen. Very realistic sets. Buddy, you gotta do more! =D

  • Most photo-realistic thing I've ever seen somebody do. Excellent job!

  • Sir, this is the most amazing CGI of the USS Enterprise E I have ever seen. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing this is. GREAT JOB!

  • The interiors absolutely had me fooled, it's amazing work. I was wondering where you got the live action footage of the ready room; couldn't believe it when i read the description at it's all CGI. Congrats on a fantastic piece of work.

  • There are no words to express how brilliant that was!

  • Ho. Ly. Shit.

  • I just puked in my mouth. This is absurdly beautiful. What's the point of real life if we can do shit like THIS?!

  • impressive it looks like someone filmed an actual set not a cg model.

  • this is awesome O.o

  • I'm an avid modeller and work with physical models all the time, I'm also very familiar with the way Star Trek 'looks' and I have to say sir that this looks incredible! It actually looks like a scale model or set. Wow.

  • This is an absolutely stunning model! I thought this was either a model or set, the reproduction is excellent. I look forward to seeing more

  • Holly SHIIIIITTTT!!!!

  • holy crap. How long did that take?

  • Wow!

  • Oh that's very nice indeed!!

  • Stunning work in both the modeling and the animation! Incredibly realistic, with a feeling of real substance that most CGI work lacks. Phenomenal job!

  • Breathtaking!

  • Oh this is sexy.

  • watchig this is giving me goose pimples, i just want to be there

  • Excellent, i thought the way you did the camera actions was spot on and i wanted to see more.

  • Awesome

  • Like I was really there. Walking through the hallways to the ship. Really amazing!!!

  • OMFG this is amazing! I thought it was a set, at first. I was like,"Wait...this is CG? No way! Is it?? Holy crap..IT IS!!" BEAUTIFUL job! As others have already mentioned, hope to see your work in a movie soon!

  • it's at 0:43

  • Why is there a waiting room to get on the Yacht?

  • Actually, the small vessel is most properly referred to as "the Captain's Gig", and not exactly a yacht. Most U.S. aircraft carriers (including the Enterprise CVN-65) had a small motorboat called the captain's gig, but these are being phased out now to make more room for other things and to reduce maintenance costs.

  • Cool!

  • This isnt real?

Thats the most amazing thing ive seen on youtube.

  • how long to render this sequence?

  • In my mind, the Captain's Yacht is the best looking of all Trek ships and can not be improved, but that scene made it look a whole lot better.

  • Watching this video makes me wish Star Trek was back on TV

  • OK, that was absolutely beautiful.

  • Out frigging standing,, Dude that looked like a Movie set, you Have some talent there dude,,

  • Words can not convey what I am thinking. That was beyond amazing.

  • wait... that was 3d?!

  • Wow! Very beautiful.

  • beautiful and well done

  • very very nice. i look forward to seeing more. any possible chance you can include voyager in one of your animations?

  • Superb

  • Man am I glad I stumbled onto this...

This is incredible!!! It blew my mind. I would love to see more!

  • Amazing! I've wanted to see that part of the E for a long time. Thanks for taking me there visually, very stunning!

  • bravo.

  • superb, beautiful, incredible...a real masterpiece....seriously this is fantastic!

  • Has to be some of the best CGI I've ever seen, Lighting is truly inspiring give them Hollywood boys a run for the money....

  • Have to say that's absolutely stunning. A piece of artwork in its own right.

  • wait this entire video is CGI? Wow

  • You left me speechless and in tears. I cant find the words to describe how absolutely amazing this short video glimpse actually is!

    Thank you so much! ^_^

  • this is the best and most realistic CGI i have seen !

  • I have worked with Lightwave since 1998, yet never managed to model and render something that lovely. Amazingly well done Sir!

  • The lighting is what makes this so believable. Never stop doing what you're doing.

  • Ive been following your work on sci fi meshes from the outside without an account for awhile and this video is simply inspiring in every way i CANT stop watching it! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

  • Amazing. Absolutely the best animation work concerning star trek I have EVER seen on youtube.

  • This is incredible thankyou, wow

  • I'm having a hard time telling whether or not this is an actual set or not. Awesome work!

  • That is very very good!

  • unbelieveably awesome,i thought i watched the beginning of an episode or movie ,very very good

  • You, sir, are among the best that I have ever seen on YouTube. I hope to see your name in the credits of a show (or dare I even say movie?) at some point in the future. I'd love to see additional projects of yours - external full-ship shots and the like - because what I saw here felt like it was real.

  • @Kelvari7882 /forums/showthread.php?310/page85

I've been posting my progress on the full ship here

(append that to the link in the description, I can't post full links in the comments for some reason)

  • the work here is better than the STE show animations :D

  • Great work

  • i couldnt even tell it was rendered. 1080P was the only hint. the FSAA jaggies gave it away. and not cause of your render, but the player im using

  • Just want to reinforce what has been said by everyone else, this is absolutely incredible, superb 3d work, I'm literally speechless.

  • this is very, very impressive.

  • That is the MOST impressive CG render of the interiors of the Enterprise I have ever seen. Completely flawless and really beautiful. I especially like the arrival into the hangar for the Captain's Yacht and it's subsequent launch.

    Congratulations on an amazing video.

  • You sir, are a god among men. Please tell me a CBS executive has seen this and offered you a job?!

  • maybe in 15 years... =) we play games with graphics like that. but think how epic it would be to walk the 1701 totally free with this look...

  • I thought this was some DVD extra using the actual sets until I read the comments; I have a difficult time believing that isn't real life and is, in fact, CGI. Incredibly impressive.

  • Very nice work!! But would rather see this exact same type of shot with the galaxy yacht !!

  • This is AWESOME! The best bit is the view of the nacelles out of the observation lounge window! Finally you can get a visceral sensation of being on board the ship that either TNG nor any of the movies were able to convey when you were near a window. Could you do one for the 1701-D?

  • AMAZING!

  • Absolutely amazing, level of detail is stunning, one day i hope to be this good

  • Chills up my spine. The glasses of water are too real.

  • That is incredible work! awesome!!! You are no artist, but a magician! :-)

  • Great renderings!

  • WasI or was I not just on Enterprise. Good work.

  • How did you do this?

  • My system would die trying to render something like this, lol.

  • excellent render! mental ray? i see no flaws. the final gather is super clean. the lighting effects are excellent! does the table top have a translucent shader? overall super good job!

  • @artofnick the rooms had baked radiosity but other than that there is none, just area lights and point lights without shadows for bounce lighting, the table top has a simulated look of translucency but no actual translucency

  • Wait wait wait wait...wait...wait...wait...wait...wait... THATS NOT REAL FOOTAGE?!

    You sir, are talented.

  • I didn't realize I was watching CGI...it's THAT good. You've just shown us all that with the tools and the talent, we can explore aspects of the Star Trek universe that they never could on TV, and it can look just as good if not BETTER.

  • You made my jaw drop. I'm actually working on some lightwave scenes for a Star Trek / Star Wars crossover fan film. Unfortunately my skill is no where near your level of professionalism. I did make a model of the Enterprise-E corridor a while ago.

Would you be interested in helping with the animations? It sure would save me money on building sets.

  • That was wicked !!!!!!!

  • holy fucking tits. That's too awesome.

  • awesome!!!

  • Wowthis is probably "the" cleanest vid I have ever seen of the yatch and the observation lounge! When I placed the vid on 1080p, it looks so realistic, especially of the view in the observation lounge looking out the window at the engine nacelles, it left me speechless. Great job IRML...... hope you get some views of the bridge and engineering, it woul be stellar work if you do to add on to these other two vids you have now. Once again, GREAT JOB!!!

  • @supramike67 I second that IRML. This is the most realistic I have ever seen, It felt like I was really there. Please do some additional views like supramike67 suggested. A view of the bridge or warp core would be awesome.

  • @Kenny4842 I'm with both of them.I seriously thought this was a filming set. You work is extreamly well done. Please continue making these short videos.

  • Fantastic! Absolutely breathtaking in beauty and detail!! How did you do it??? I was just glad to see some more of the inside of our beautiful E!! Love that ship!! :-D

  • whut!!?? you wanna tell me the interior is not real?

  • I WANT MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • VERY well done! The after effects work also made it look like real filmed movie footage. Very nice.

  • i honestly thought this was taken out of some DVD extra footage thingy. Awesome!!

  • what is the music?

  • holy mother fucking shite this is all aminated?? looks fecking real like a veiw of the set!!

  • That was fantastic, especially seeing the Yacht disembark. Well done :-)

  • Nice! -sigh- I started using Lightwave back in 1993. I miss it....

  • This made my jaw drop literally. I've never seen the interior done with such detail and acturacy!

  • Incredible. you should be very proud of yourself. thanks for sharing

  • great post, miss the good old days.

  • This is amazing. Well done.

  • ! Wow !

  • This was all done in Lightwave and AE? I am seriously beyond speechless. Absolutely beautiful.

  • My god...

    Dies from epicness.

  • Speechless... I bow to your skill... that vid is incredible! How long did that take to render & what render engine did you use?

  • @BlueOdysseyStudios

the frames mostly took between 2 and 6 minutes to render, but some were as long as 12 I think, there were 1200 of them spread out over a few weeks

  • excellent!!! wow!

  • Comment removed

  • Ok this is absolitly amazing! This looks incredible, you should get an award for this!

  • very good.

  • ....so lifelike....and beautiful
