I think that the Doctor and Martha should have gone together. She was always trying to be loved by him, like Rose. She was my favourite companion, and they should have been together.
You know, ironically, I think people would've liked martha more if the doctor ended up liking her back. She really was a near perfect companion, people were just generally turned off by the whole, angst, doctor doesn't love me, kinda thing. Really though, she was brilliant! And adorable too!
I think you 're right and that's just sad; to think people place a value on a person based from another person's likes or dislikes. I think Martha stood on her own merits; the unrequited romance just subtracted from what could have been an awesome partnership. Ahhh well, lets see how the new guy does...and We'll have to catch lovely Freema on Law and Order UK

He didn't love her because he felt it was a betrayal to Rose and also he kept his distance from her because he didn't want to care about her and lose her like all the others. The Doctor was cruel to her and mistreated her her entire season and no one even cared. They all took his side. He put her down all season and so did everyone else and this is what made her story so great. Martha overcame all her suffering and mistreat and saved everyone in

@kanayuki never complained or anything, so you are wrong on so many levels. She did get upset around him a lot, but that was when he talked down to her and made her feel bad about herself. She wasn't crying because the Doctor didn't love her....She was upset because he was mistreating her the entire season and she didn't understand what she was doing wrong. Martha didn't understand that he was the problem and it had nothing to do with her.
