One pitcher alone cannot solve the problem of a wayyy subpar bullpen. You can't expect Wainwright to be able to pitch every game, especially if the starters don't go very far. I would love Wainwright to be the closer, yes, but we need other good pitchers too. Springer has done quite well despite his last outing and Garcia isn't looking too shabby, but other than that, the rest of them aren't that good. And Izzy just needs to retire, especially after Tuesday's game vs. LA.

People forget that due to injuries, there were only two months out of the whole season that the entire lineup was intact. April, which was the best in Cardinal history, and October. The Cards were truly the best team in baseball in 2006.

They got healthy. And when they were healthy, they were unbeatable. Yeah, we were lucky to be in such a terrible division, but we still beat everyone else, and when the playoffs came the lineup looked completely different from the "Memphis Redbirds + Pujols" version because we had our starters back, and October spoke for itself.
