i have to agree with you about The Adventures of Tin Tin, AniMat. which i think it looks cool! except i find the animation look too diferent from the comics since i'm born from Portugal and heard about the comics from Tin Tin.
and i have to agree much for Cars 2, even Cars 2's animation looks ok, but the rest of this movie was not as good as the first one i saw. as for the others best animated films of 2011, i guess i'll check it out for one day!
I'm sorry to say this but I wouldn't put Rango that high. It's animation looked great, but the plot and characters didn't appeal to me that much. But I should probably watch it again to understand it more.
I'd put Rio up there behind Arthur Christmas and Kung Fu Panda 2 (I haven't seen the others yet) mainly because I thought it was a bold move to make something "Disney-like".
@MrAndrewsaccount92 Hey dude, if u check up with the oscar nominations and IMDb website, Rango was awarded with the Oscar 'Best animated film of the Year'. Although, I was ratehr surprised by that caused yes, u r right that the characters wasn't appealing, but on the other hand, u wrong about the plot. It was rather good but I honestly thought that Puss in Boots should be one of the top 3. It's comedy was far much more better than the Shrek series and its plot has a good twist in it.
Here is what I think some of these films: B5: this film sounds better than I thought B4:Looks terrible B3:Ok B2:Almost better than the 1st movie B:looks kind of boring W5:ok W4:medeoakre W3:the only thing that looks appealing are the penguins W2:Okay W:pretty disappointing ,but does have a few good parts
I think Tin Tin is a great feat for computer animation but I prefer my animation to look like animation, not like real life. If I wanted to see real life on screen I would go to a normal, unanimated movie. Although the story was great.
Okay so I just read the academy Award announcements for this year and I noticed that under animated films "Tin Tin" was not nominated. Are they not aloud to vote for motion capture or something. And I am not just going by the review I saw it two days ago and absolutely loved it and I am not really a motion capture fan.
Oh my GOSH. Mars Needs Moms was GOOD! Maybe it's more for chicks, I being one, would understand that. But seriously, I haven't ever cried that hard at the end of an animated movie than that one. All Pixar movies included. Because I have seen them all. And MNM... just... wow usually your reviews are usually spot on. Hm, guess its a "love it or hate it" film. I mean it wasn't the best one, but it was far from the worst. Idk, am i the only one?
Best: 5: I've always loved Puss, so it's great that this did him justice. 4: Didn't see, but I'll try it. 3: I dunno... i might give it a shot. 2: LOVE IT! :D 1: LOVE IT! X3 Worst: 5: Don't care. 4: ...I actually kinda like this one... 3: Won't see it. 2: Just ick... good thing I'll never see it. 1: I didn't even know this existed, and it's a good thing i didn't.
@IGeorge94 I guess its because he doesn;t like Adam Sandler and fears his involvement would ruin the script. I actually like Adam Sandler. Do you know what he said about Frankenweenie?
Great vid and good choices. I resent you including The Lion King 3D as an honorable mention when it is not an all new animated movie. Why wasn't Winnie the Pooh on there? That's kind of disappointing. Cars 2 was good, but not great. Everything Pixar has done has been great up to this point. I liked Cars 2, but race cars, spies, and everything else in this one is like you said, all directed towards kids. I hope Brave is better. Fingers crossed.
I don't really agree on your view on Rango. It was pretty boring at the start, though more interesting later, it moves too slow and it is not that funny. And I like Johnny Depp!
i saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D and it was fantastic! The 3D was way better than with Lion King, then again, Beauty and the Beast is more compatible with 3D, especially with the zooming into the castle and the stain glass in the beginning.
2:55 I think santa forgot a few million presents in the middle east. 5:55 I say the greatest villain was the mystical profit in kung fu panda, if it wasn't for her shin wouldn't of committed genocide against the pandas and his parents wouldn't of shunned him before that. Couldn't agree more with the worse list. And thanks for helping me make my list for the next line of animated features.
Secret World of Arrietty = Cool Lorax = Doubt (HA!) Pirates = Great Madagascar 3 = Not Sure Brave = Gonna be good Ice Age 4 = Not Another One ParaNorman = Interesting Hotel Transylvania = Help me Jebus! Frankenweenie = Can't Wait Wreck-It Ralph = Maybe Rise of the Guardians = Awesome
Probably I don't care what you say about Cars 2, I like it, and I know it's more targeted for kids. Kung Fu Panda 2 is okay, not as good as the first, but okay. I love Rango, I love Johnny Depp, and I got another movie with him for my birthday. My first is Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland. I'm so glad that you named the #1 best and Golden Globe winner, The Adventures of Tintin.
YEESS!!! Now I KNOW I made a great choice when I chose to see "Tintin" on my birthday!
I liked "Gnomeo & Juliet", I don't love it, but it kept me in my seat. (well, except when I got up to get some summer sausage)
I'm starting to get really annoyed with "Cars 2" First I saw it in theatres, then my brother played it a million times, then my strings teacher played it, then my social studies teacher played it, GOD, if I have to see it one more time . . .
The only ones I saw so far are Arthur Christmas (LOVED IT!!), Rio (Loved it, but not quite as much as Arthur Christmas), and Gnomeo and Juliet (I liked it because of the witty humor), and the Lion King (not in 3D though)(it may be a Disney classic, but Mufasa's death scared (no pun intended) me for life! I can't watch the movie without crying, or getting my spine tingled by that sinister villain! I'll watch scenes with Timon, Pumbaa, Rafiki, and Zazu though for obvious reasons.)
I would've thought Winnie the Pooh would've gotten honourable mention. It was in beautiful 2D animation and Jim Cummings and Tom Kenny are genious, especially the part where they are in the hole.
On a side note, I totally agree that 3D should be left to theme park attractions and I completely disagree that the first Kung-Fu Panda was a good movie. I know AniMatt likes it but I thought it was crap.
Cars 2: Yeah, yeah, no one likes this movie... but I thought it was AWESOME. I DON'T CARE that Mater was the main character. It had more action than the first one, and that's what I liked.
HF2: I loved this movie. Mostly because of Lovelace, Sven, P!nk's awesome singing, and the "krillroll". XD
MNM: This movie was strangely cool. That's all I'm gonna say.
Hoodwinked 2: Didn't see it. I still like that wolf, though.
All the films on this list are CGI... how disappointing that the only films worth mentioning are CGI, now. I miss the classic 2D animated films. Seriously, what the hell happened to them? CGI gets OLD after awhile. So does 3D. I mean... seriously... what's the point of remaking Lion King and Beauty and the Beast in 3D? They were 2D animated to begin with, so... oh look! Completely flat drawings popping out at me. Not to mention, that's just proving that they are getting LAZY with movies.
@NeverendingTwilight4 Lion King and Beauty and The Beast were rereleased in 3D because it was guaranteed that they would make a ton of money. Disney is not getting lazy, they wanted to rekindle interest in traditionally animated films and those were the classics everybody loved at the time. The Princess and The Frog is proof that they want this, Disney just at marketing there movies and that's why that film failed to do what Disney's trying now... cut em' some slack, they're trying.
@MrRetardedSeal I'm not going to deny that they were fantastic films, because they were. I just wish they'd release something new using traditional, hand drawn animations instead of all this CGI. Plus, there are plenty of fairy tales they haven't explored yet, in their own style, that I would love to see in the style of Beauty and the Beast, Hunchback of Notre Damme, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, etc.
Great list! I'm kind of looking forward to this year, and I agree on a lot of what you said about this upcoming films even when you explained them in within seconds. I'm glad you put the Lion King as an honorable mention. I'm also not that big on 3D, but it was surpassingly better than I thought it would be. I just saw Beauty and the Beast in 3D, and again, the 3D was better than I thought, but I was more excited about seeing my favorite Disney movie on the big screen.
You can't just not like Cars 2 because it isn't as good as most PIxar films. I liked Cars 2, better than the original, though not as good as most pixar films.
@chrisetrata2 So true. I enjoyed it. Pixar is still 11/11.
It's interesting when guys like Roger Ebert, Peter Travers, and Kenneth Turan raved about it while everyone else trashed it.
Pixar, in essence, is like Kubrick, Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Wilder, and Scorcese. They have long passed the point where trashing one film just because it isn't like the others is still acceptable. Pixar makes films because Pixar LOVES film and that showed in all of their projects, including "CARS 2"
@ElectricDragon505 Great countdown and I have a suggestion. Considering your love for animation, could you do reviews of cartoons. I would love to see a vid involving My Little Pony >:D
This is a very good top 5 list of good and bad films. I'm looking forward to Brave. Being based in Scotland. But I'm not really looking forward to the remake of Frankenweenie. Don't get me wrong. I'm a fan of Tim Burton, but Frankenweenie is one of his works that doesn't need to be remade. It's perfect as it is. That is what I think.
Ok, I gotta say, thank you for the Honorable Mention of The Lion King in 3D. Amazing list on both the good and bad, thank god I never saw Hoodwinked 2, but this year I hope will be great. Especially on Madagascar 3, The Lorax, Brave, Wreck it Ralph, and Ice Age 4. Honestly, Ilike the Ice Age films.
The Lion King is not my favorite movie I do have problems with it but its a nice film. I say its a bad great film. And I hate Beauty and the Beast and The little Mermaid. Thats coming from the number 3 biggest Disney fan there is
The Adventures of Tin Tin same thing I HATE IT. I just dont like the plot and I forgot the every single character there is. Im sorry thats just my opinion. Hate me if you want.
Everyone around me loves aurthor christmas, But I JUST HATE IT. Im sorry but it just kills christmas for me. AND it steals some elements from Pixars Prep and Landing short.
the number 1 on your worst list is spot on 100 percent.I had no idea it was released theatrically because I blocked out the horrible idea of a sequel, the trailers looked like direct to video sequel, imagen my suprise.
I respectfully disagree with your placement of cars 2 on the worst list, while your points are valid I think its a fun film pixar deserves the right to make, while its not the best or the deepest, its still a decent film let alone a good kids film with reerences adults will like and yes I know other films have succeeded more in this but its a fun spy movie tailored for the summer.thankfully the grossings discount this as being their first flop, hopefully that day will not come.
@bluedragonfive Too true. When Pixar makes utter trash, it will be so obvious. As long as they continue loving the art of film, that will likely never happen :)

the number 1 on your worst list is spot on 100 percent.I had no idea it was released theatrically because I blocked out the horrible idea of a sequel, the trailers looked like direct to video sequel, imagen my suprise.

i am so looking forward to your lorax review
since you apparently aren't in favor of it just because it's animated

I respectfully disagree with your placement of cars 2 on the worst list, while your points are valid I think its a fun film pixar deserves the right to make, while its not the best or the deepest, its still a decent film let alone a good kids film with reerences adults will like and yes I know other films have succeeded more in this but its a fun spy movie tailored for the summer.thankfully the grossings discount this as being their first flop, hopefully that day will not come.

@bluedragonfive Too true. When Pixar makes utter trash, it will be so obvious. As long as they continue loving the art of film, that will likely never happen :)
