good, 01:37 this is a very good time, i dont have a camera do rec my game, but i done the adamantoise in 01:27 without summon, shrouds and DEATH, my strategy is similar ^^ good jog (Y)
This is awesome, I used to do 1 leg, then Highwind and then the other leg... this is much faster cause it's less paradigm shifting. (Btw, I replaced Snow with Lightning and went double Commando to kill him off, works equally well)
So if I switch out vanille for lightning, lightning still covers the same roles as vanille then, correct? I have everyone maxed out. What weapon/equipment would lightning need?
@SirSexyAlot Daze makes the target take twice as much damage on their next recieved hit, so snow casting that is better than him swinging himself because fang does a ton more damage
You know I didn't even think of using this modified method until well after my party was maxed out. I can't spam thunder as fast as you can so I end up charging towards it like a fool using auto battle (but with 23k to 30k on Fang, Light, and Snow, they can take a hit). I've also gotten into the habit of waiting until I get the chain guage on the 'toise up to 999.9%, but I should probably worry less about buffing everyone. All in all, it did shave 'bout 30 seconds off my time.
@Rawrimaviking thankz even though i kinda went back to the spot 3 days ago thanks to your strategy i don't have to use tp every time i want to drop him also so u have a tactic to beat long gui without tp/shrouds
@Rawrimaviking oh thats ok i tried using this strategy on long gui and i was able to take its health half way and die, still trying to get trap since higher drop rate but with another strategy but have to use tp and annoying to get it back to 3 every time
@alexcito25 Ah I see. Yeah I had to use a summon to beat the long gui as well but I already had the traps I needed so I didn't need to farm him. If it helps you can dismantle a maxed Kain's lance (if it is upgraded from Dragoon Lance, Shamanistic Spear, Punisher, Pandoran Spear or Gae Bolg) or a maxed Nirvana (upgraded from Tigerclaw, Healer Staff, Belladonna Wand or Mistilteinn) to get 3 traps. So you really only need 1 trap from a drop to be able to upgrade all weapons.
Good farming video, now the only problem is that they just don't wanna drop the items in question, their very reluctant to drop them for me at least :P
keep farming the toises and you'll drop those items that sell for 250k, get 4 of them and that's a million gil right there. Your money will stack up pretty easy, I think after an hour of hard grinding you'll have 1-2 million easy.
@Chaosynthesis Yeah, I had the Genji Glove at the time, the thing is that I noticed that the higher HP Fang had at the moment the more damage she would deliver. That's what was happening, as sometimes I attacked the turtle with my HP bar on red. But anyways, I got the platinum already so... But thanks for trying to help me out :)
I have the genji glove, 2750 STR and Auto-Bravery and still can't kill the legs with 400% Stagger, is there something I may be missing? It seems kinda random to me, as sometimes highwind works properly and kills one leg with only one blow and sometimes it just leaves one leg with 1/5 HP
@Mendonky I got 2650ish Strength and can't 1shot them either. Just do the same tactics except get the chain gauge up to 700ish on one leg and switch to kill it. Then switch back and start the other leg. The whole fight takes 2 min 5 sec but it works =)
@xTomTuffx I don't think I'm going to get the treasurehunter on this game save, I screwed up and sold a lot of junk xD Sooo whatever (that's why I don't have 3 40% earth rings)
@xTomTuffx well eh yeah, but three in the first hour is enough to get a third tier weapon for your three main characters :P Which is better than I got and I heard the trapz are like 2-3% maybe 4% to drop WITH catalogs. So if you kill 100 of them you will get maybe four, 100 times 5 min cycle times = 500 minutes so you have possibly 4 every 8 hours of solid grinding xP
@xTomTuffx lol, I only replaced snow's entite ring with it, he has like 27k hp so he can take go f---uhh... yeah, I don't really care about his defense lol he can survive two stomps with each doing 11k so whatever xD And vanille can spike heal him up to 17k in two seconds so whatever :P
(ps my kain's lance is lvl 100 now xD) Just farming money until I get like 5 more trapz -.-
@xTomTuffx I don't think that's entirely worth it xD I've been able to one hit them at 417% with a lvl 80 kain's lance from the glaive which means I only had about 2560 strength... so...?
I also think that there is a hidden multiplier in there, because 3 catalogues should not stack, but they do somewhat... So I'd say 2 catalogues 1 connosour is the best :P
@xTomTuffx You will have to have the legs staggered, and you WILL need about 2800 strength to wham the legs one hit wit highwind @ 400% stagger.
And with some side research I've found that you need about 2,400+ braveryia to one hit them at 480%, 2,600+braveria to one hit them at 440% and 2,800 to one hit them at 430% or so. Very discouraging since I don't have a starred kain's lance yet xD Kain's lance + kaiser knuckle should be 3k+ str though... /drool
My fang has about 2500 strength and she can't down the legs in one shot reliably. Oh well. Stage 2.5 works perfectly for me =)
I have a question about Lightning. I have put her in my party but she keeps running up to do strikes instead of staying back. (She has a Omega Weapon upgraded from Helter-Skelter... hence lots of strength). I don't suppose this is a big issue, since I don't really die anymore but would it just be wiser to use vanille for the reason of better timing on chains?
Also I found that Stage 3 doesn't work well for a few of the ones in Gran Pulse (the area where you fight the giant Cactuar with 3-4 Adamancheilds). A few of them have lower stagger points (250% instead 400%), and I usually need to get it up to at least 380% before I can completely take out one leg. However, by the time I reach that percentage on both legs, the stagger on the first leg will have run out already. I'm not sure why these Adamantoises are different, but that's what I found.
@chrisksc The ones with the lower stagger percentage are actually AdamanTORTOISES and have about 2mil less HP than the AdamanTOISES. The ones that walk around are the TOISES and the ones that stand still in the 2 walk ways near the giant cactuar are the TORTOISES
These videos are changing my life, man - at least as far as FFXIII is concerned. I have a question for you though. Why stagger both the legs, then Highwind both the legs, rather than each leg one at a time? As you mention in the FAQ, it makes the Highwind timing for the second leg tricky, and it just makes me nervous to see the stagger gauges dwindle almost to empty for the Highwind. You are clearly brilliant, and I'm sure you have your reasons, but I just wanted to know what they were.
@phaatman if you stagger one leg, then want to take it out with highwinder, you'd have to do a paradigm change, kill it, change back, stagger the other leg, change yet again... but I agree, I'd probably totally miss the chance to kill the leg I staggered first^^ (only just got to chapter 12, and after seeing this vids, decided that I'll wait until post-game for farming xD)
Great video guide. One question, though: At what point can you swap out Vanille for Lightning? My Lightning has maxed Com, Rav, Sen, and Med, and is halfway through Sab. I assume you can swap as soon as Lightning gets Imperil?
@DeathByGuro Actually, it is mostly a matter of HP. Lightning needs Deprotect/Deshell/Imperil, yes, but the key is for everyone to have enough HP to make up for the weakened healing that Lightning brings to the table. It's the sacrifice you make for better offense.
Yeah I don't get this... I have way more Str, Mag, and Hth then you and have same acc and weap settings basically, yet when I HW a leg it only takes off 80-90% and I have to rechain to finish the rest by which time I have been hit by 2 quakes and vanille has died. I have yet to beat these using this method even though I use exact setup and strategy. My Highwind just wont do the damage I need even though Fang has 3.3k+ Str.
This is absolutely the best method to steamroll. I have it down to about 2 minute and 30 second runs. I noticed on your faq that you talk about fighting the soldiers, which insinuates you run to the door to respawn the adamantoise. It's much faster to save, quit, and reload. I generate about 2M CP per hour, and average about 70% drop rate on platinum ingots with 3 stacked collectors catalogues.
@depietro I thought you couldn't stack Collector's Catalogues? At least that's what I've read, but if that actually helps then I'll certainly give it a try.
@depietro I meant nothing by it, but 70% that's pretty awesome droprate! How does it get so high, what's the math behind it? I thought it was like 5,5%? (from what i've read)
@LPN00b Honestly i'm still a bit puzzled by the algorithm used, but empirically the drop rate I've observed is extremely high using this method. There could be so many unknowns involved maybe I hit just the right combination of factors? Let me know what you observe
sometimes when i use highwind the legs still live..... why is that? sometimes the CG is higher like in the 500's and they live and other times its still in the 400's and they die >_>
