A tarantula was too much trouble? o.O I have 6 (with 8 on the way. Other hobbyists easily have kept over 60) and their requirements aren't hard - easier than a reptile in my opinion(no heater or calcium supplements). Food is pretty cheap as they do perfectly fine off insects. Unless you live in a place that gets REALLY cold, they do fine in room temperature and there are no vet bills.
The best way to train the T to kill big prey is to break the jaw of the mouse with pliers until the T develops a technique. This ensures little or no damage to the arachnid.

Bullshit. Tarantulas are territorial and defensive. Let me guess, you own a g.rosea or b.albopilosum which are docile. an E.Murinus or H.Lividum is another story. MOST tarantulas will give you an incredibly excruciating venomous bite, especially if you grab them.
for starters i didnt say every fucking tarantula in the world is nice but a lot of them are and yeah i have a rose hair, a pink toe a texas brown mexican red knee a skeleton tarantula, a cobalt blue, and a brazilian black and the only one i wont and havent held is my cobalt blue. and im getting a king baboon and of course u cant hold them either. and ive seen rare vids of people holding a cobalt blue and king baboon but eventully the T got pissed and the guy backed off. i said i have calm Ts.
They sense heat in live prey, that's why they won't take dead food. Although feeding mice to tarantulas is generally frowned upon, as it isn't healthy for the tarantula. crunchy hard-shelled roaches or locusts are a better option, but this guy obviously just wanted his T to look good in the video. Some snakes will take dead prey but that's because they've got better eyesight than Ts and they can see it wiggling.
Doing what it does in nature. That's a large mouse for that sized T. Try smaller prey items; you should also add a log and some substrate so it can hide and keep the humidity up.

While you make a good point about the rights of living creatures: 1) Mice are somewhat more self aware than roaches and crix. 2) It's still not proven whether invertebrates feel pain. 3) Tarantulas need little more than 1 or 2 crickets a week, not a great deal of crickets.
The point remains that eating mice is bad for the tarantula, it can cause moulting problems and death. A live mouse is far more likely to hurt a tarantula and mice can be bought pre-killed (humanely). Here the mouse suffers

A tarantula was too much trouble? o.O I have 6 (with 8 on the way. Other hobbyists easily have kept over 60) and their requirements aren't hard - easier than a reptile in my opinion(no heater or calcium supplements). Food is pretty cheap as they do perfectly fine off insects. Unless you live in a place that gets REALLY cold, they do fine in room temperature and there are no vet bills.

She ate that day only because a human gave her meals to her. Had this been the so-called wild, this spider, realistically, might never have evolved. yeah some animals eat dead animals. if i take a pencil and shake it in front of my tarantulas they will not bite it they will just sit there doing nothing and when i grab them to hold them they dont just attack my hand. u can hold most tarantulas. ive never been bitten but i have calm species and if i wiggle my finger he doesnt attack it. but when i drop in a cricket she attacks it if the cricket dies in her cage she wont eat the dead ones.

Bullshit. Tarantulas are territorial and defensive. Let me guess, you own a g.rosea or b.albopilosum which are docile. an E.Murinus or H.Lividum is another story. MOST tarantulas will give you an incredibly excruciating venomous bite, especially if you grab them.

for starters i didnt say every fucking tarantula in the world is nice but a lot of them are and yeah i have a rose hair, a pink toe a texas brown mexican red knee a skeleton tarantula, a cobalt blue, and a brazilian black and the only one i wont and havent held is my cobalt blue. and im getting a king baboon and of course u cant hold them either. and ive seen rare vids of people holding a cobalt blue and king baboon but eventully the T got pissed and the guy backed off. i said i have calm Ts.

They sense heat in live prey, that's why they won't take dead food. Although feeding mice to tarantulas is generally frowned upon, as it isn't healthy for the tarantula. crunchy hard-shelled roaches or locusts are a better option, but this guy obviously just wanted his T to look good in the video. Some snakes will take dead prey but that's because they've got better eyesight than Ts and they can see it wiggling.

Doing what it does in nature. That's a large mouse for that sized T. Try smaller prey items; you should also add a log and some substrate so it can hide and keep the humidity up.

More to the point, feeding live mice is cruel to the mouse and potentially dangerous to the tarantula... feed it crickets and roaches, not mice.
If you must feed mice, feed humanely killed pinkies, and only occasionally.

While you make a good point about the rights of living creatures: 1) Mice are somewhat more self aware than roaches and crix. 2) It's still not proven whether invertebrates feel pain. 3) Tarantulas need little more than 1 or 2 crickets a week, not a great deal of crickets.
The point remains that eating mice is bad for the tarantula, it can cause moulting problems and death. A live mouse is far more likely to hurt a tarantula and mice can be bought pre-killed (humanely). Here the mouse suffers
