L-Lysine is a good supplement for felines with the herpes virus. It boost there immune system. When i worked at a shelter we gave it to all the cats to help treat and prevent cats from the herpes virus. I would add about a teaspoon or two to your cats food. You can find it at any supplement store. Just grind it up and add it to a can of food and it should help you little kitty out.
@talonclaw0551 Unless you can tell your cat that you're feeding it something that will cure it, your cat won't be able to benefit from a placebo effect Lysine is an essential amino acid for both cats and human. A typical supplement is 500mg. AAFCO standards require at least 1.2% lysine in cat food. That means less than 1.5oz of cat food has as much lysine as a supplement.
Lysine deficiency will harm the immune system, but supplementation does nothing to a sufficient diet.
