  • Yes the official blew the call but I highly doubt this is why Cuse lost the game. I would point to the number of turnovers, missed FT's and FG's & how many offensive rebounds they gave up before I would blame one missed call for a loss.

  • Cant believe you guys are still upset about this! that hysterical

  • was a travel anyways...

  • @smiffay35 it wasnt a travel b.c he didnt have possession

  • Also regardless if he gets called for the backcourt violation, he traveled as well. Watch very closely. He landed with his right foot down first, thus making his left foot the pivot foot. He then proceeds to pick up his right foot, which is traveling.

  • I am a Junior College Referee, so I hope I know the rules a little bit :p.

It was the correct call because he had established position in the front court due to the fact that he was in the front court at the point he jumped. He landed in the back court thus causing him to get the backcourt violation. If he had started in the backcourt it would have been ok, but he had jumped from front court landing in back court. Hope that clarifies the ruling.

  • @AcexXxSpades You're completely a totally wrong. NCAA rules allow him to leave the floor in the FC, catch the throw-in pass and land with one or both feet in the BC. Please, keep your mouth shut until you can pass a rules exam.

  • @AcexXxSpades You're completely and totally wrong. NCAA rules allow him to leave the floor in the FC, catch the throw-in pass and land with one or both feet in the BC. Please, keep your mouth shut until you can pass a rules exam.

  • @AcexXxSpades NCAA actually apologized and said the official made the incorrect call. At 0:27 - Yes he started in the front court , but the rule: "After a jump ball OR on a throw in a player in the front court who makes the initial contact with both feet off the playing court may be the first to secure control and land with one or both feet in the back court. - It makes no difference if the first foot down was in the frontcourt or backcourt."

    Position est is not a factor - 1:15, 1:29, 1:35

  • @AcexXxSpades Sorry dude, you are wrong. in the fist rule the poster outlines it says, " the player in his or her front court..." So that means the rule is talking about a player who is in the front court and jumping and catching the ball and landing wholly or partly oin the back court.

  • @AcexXxSpades You don't know the rules!

  • @Kybahaus i won!!! Thanks for the PSP!!!

  • So what I'm getting from all these responces are a lot of people are pissed because the"call" screwed up their brackets! LOL!!!!!!!!!!

  • settle down pemmergrantie, you can choose a pivot foot if you....wait for it....start with both feet on the ground. he started with one foot on the ground (right foot) with the left up in the air. that (right) is his pivot foot, he needs to keep that planted.he brought the other foot down (left foot) and then moved his right (pivot) foot. travelling. period. they turned the ball over twice. by the way awful language and getting vulgar over a basketball game is shameful. its only a game.

  • @Oblomovs1 actually i think he gets to take 1 extra step to establish his pivot foot if he is in motion

  • @Kybahaus i won the X Box 360 !! ! ! ;D

  • @Kybahaus you won the lottery!

  • you can blame it on the ref all you like, but with 51.6 seconds left, he should have just gone ahead and taken in the backcourt and let his offense set up. Then this would never have been an issue. Just my thoughts on the subject. Take them for what you will...

  • @Kybahaus i won the x-box ;D

  • FUCK THE FUCKING REFs!!!!!!! FUCKED UP MY BRACKET BECAUSE OF THE FUCKING REFS!!!!

  • SEND THIS TO NCAA!!!!!!!

  • sports fans fall for trolls so easy. In the comments people aren't that stupid they are trolling they are trying to get you mad stop replying to them.

  • @Kybahaus i won the JET- SKI

  • if every call went into this much depth the game would go 1 mile an hour.

  • @silenthunter99 if the refs knew the rules it wouldnt matter. really it shouldnt matter if he had his foot in the backcourt and frontcourt. On an inbounds pass you are allowed to go to the back to receive the inbound, even if the inbound is from the backcourt. The only way it could be an over and back is if he landed one foot first in the frontcourt while catching the ball and then planted his other foot in the backcourt. He's an ncaa official. It's his job to know all the rules!

  • @Kybahaus I won too thank you!

  • ⒸⓁⒾⒸⓀ & ⓌⒾⓃ

    ⇵⇵⇵⇵⇵

  • @KybaHaus I WON FINAL FOUR TICKETS!!! THANK YOU!!!!

  • @KybaHaus I won absolutely nothing!!!

  • @jlax040493 just because you land with the right foot first doesnt mean its ur pivot foot..

  • All of the related videos are basketball, basketball, basketball, REBECCA FUCKING BLACK - Friday, basketball, basketball.... Really?

  • someone needs to define possession for every sport cause there are a lot of people here who have no idea what possession means.

  • Marquette got killed in the next round anyway so who cares. The fact the Syracuse and Marquette were even close in this game shows that Syracuse was not playing its best.

  • @jlax040493 you can take one step

  • wow this is stupid

  • even so this is a retarded rule -.-

  • the ref should be sentence to 3 years in prison for making this bad call

  • they lost man...deal with it

  • @ghostboy365 exactly

  • his foot didn't even extend over the line

  • this is why this should be like football and HAVE CHALLENGE PLAYS

  • dont matta, unc raped their lucky ass

  • i doubt that single call lost the game for them...syracuse is garbage anyway

  • @miocevicd obviously not the fact they got in tourney and actually advanced in it

  • @pomergrantiepig8 so did 32 other teams...

  • @miocevicd making them 17-32 out of the 346 div 1 colleges therefore they aint garbage. there better then about 90% of the colleges

  • @pomergrantiepig8 yea but they still got beat by marquette....so they gotta be garbage

  • @miocevicd no? its called a bad game dumbass

  • @pomergrantiepig8 lol..shows how immature you are calling someone a dumbass on a youtube comment..stop being so defensive and just admit that marquette was the better team..."its called a bad game"...yea well im pretty sure that the team that plays better (in any sport) is going to win...i thought that was just common sense..could be wrong though

  • @miocevicd and obviously you dont or never did play basketball as kid. you hvae bad games. for ex, spurs vs heat this year spurs r dominate team this season won by 30 next time they played they lost by 30 they had a bad game. its how sports r you cant just say theyre garbage cuz they lost.

  • @pomergrantiepig8 i am pretty sure thats what i said in my previous comment.the team that plays better is going to win (to simplify it for you - the team that has the bad game is going to lose).i can say any team is garbage.i dont know about you but i fight for my rights but then there are people like you that are emotional and get hurt by a youtube comment. and no i didnt play basketball as a kid but i did as a teenager and i still do now.oh and btw spurs are garbage and so is KU, UCONN and UNC

  • @miocevicd you do know you dont get your rights as a citizen till your 18. unless you are, you dont have ur rights! and no they can do alot better then you can. so obviously, YOUR garbage.

  • @pomergrantiepig8 when i say i fight for my rights i actually meant it...i am in the military fighting for people like u so you can say the stupid shit that you say... and i am way over 18...and yes they can do a lot better then me..i never claimed that i am better then them...you are just taking a youtube comment way too serious.

  • @miocevicd bro, sorry i read ur last one wrong bout playing basketballl as a teenager and now haha i thought ya meant ur like s enior er something still playing. and no man i was just saying they aint garbage theyre a goood team that had a bad game

  • I do want to add one more thing. Anyone notice the stupidity of the college players this year? This fits in with it very well. No one knew the rules. No one argued.

Same goes with other games. One game where BOTH teams foul with under 3 seconds remaining, and I could go on...

  • 51 seconds left and you're saying that lost them the game?

    Pshh...

  • he had didnt have complete control of the ball when he landed anyways so he didnt even have possesion until his second foot landing in the pivot spot

  • It only took you 5 days to figure this out... The refs had 5 sec to decide.

  • @llluuuccc but the refs are chosen to make the split second decisions like this. its their job and if they cant do it correctly then they shouldnt be refs

  • @KalaforniaRoll its easy to say now with instant replay but everyone in the building thought it was the right call.... I was there.

  • Yeah once again people are actually missing the point.

The call wasn't a "travel" the call was an "over and back.

Regardless it was a terrible call.

  • go cry about it.

  • You can't have two pivot feet. Right, left, right before ball is dribbled or passed. Don't lie to prove a point. He went right, left, right and didn't pass or dribble.

  • @Oblomovs1 yo dumb @ss he moved his second points after the whistle was blown...

  • @Oblomovs1 your a fucking retard. he jumped. landed single foooted taking turns he used his left as a pivot and never moved his left again its not a travel its called a pivot foot ya know. no 1 is lying we just actually know basketball unlike you whos trying to prove a incorrect point so shut the fuck up and notice how u said "right, left, right" thatd be on epivot even if u read it u only said once left indicating he never moved it again god dumbasses like you piss me off

  • Hopefully this clears this up.

    1. Ref obviously blew the over an back call.

    2. The player DOES travel.

    3. But #2 DOES NOT matter as #1 happened before #2, meaning that the ref blew the whistle BEFORE the player traveled, which could easily have effected what the player would have done had the ref not blown the whistle to stop play.

  • Its because when the pass was thrown he was in the frontcourt, then he crossed once he caught it.

  • It happens, the refs are humans. fucking cry about it

  • Who gives shit about Syracuse?

    OUR FUCKING BRACKETS DAMMIT

  • stupid ref ruined my bracket

  • Well it's a blown call just like it happens in any sport. I just hate when that happens in good games.

  • the first foot to hit the bround when u have the ball is ur pviot foot, there for it was a travel

  • @Durantchula35 but he didnt have full possession

  • @Durantchula35 From what I can see in the video, he only took two steps.

  • Easy solution. Have a better throw-in?

  • to all dumb people who dont know anything about basketball that was not a travel he landed took one step placed his pivot foot and never moved it. it not a travel learn the sport before u make urself look like a dumbass

  • yea, im not even a syracuse fan and that is clearly a bad call on a rule that is fairly elementary in my opinion.

  • maybe we should have red flags just like football.. when a shitty call is made.. throw the flag and review..

  • he didnt travel its a pivot.. his one foot was planted.. and yeah it doesnt mean they would have one, but it was a bogus call and the outcome of the game could of been different.. But its a game, and they lost. So get over it..

  • Need some refs with better vision and memory.

  • But maybe the ref didn't consider it a catch until he was on the ground?

  • The refs have really done a shitty job this year in my opinion. There are numerous games that I believe were greatly changed due to poor officiating

  • If it wasn't for videos like these where people actually do some research and think about what to say, I would have given up on youtube a long time ago.

Way to go, man, big thumbs up.

  • his first step when he was getting the ball was a gather step, so it isnt traveling

  • "SECURE" IS SPELT WRONG 0:40, which dumbass came up with this shit!

  • way to do something productive

  • I bet the ref & the player forgot about this already.

  • umadbro?

  • He still traveled...

  • @chicagoo17 You don't count the steps until he has control of the ball

  • @chicagoo17

Learn what a travel is before you talk, he didn't have possession of the ball.

  • @HighBriid Yes he did smartypants just because you're holding it in one hand doesn't mean he doesn't have possession

  • @chicagoo17

Watch the clip, he definitely did not have possession it's bobbling around in his hand basically until he takes it with both...

  • he traveled anyway

  • @ILikeBabys4Breakfast

    no he didn't

  • @ILikeBabys4Breakfast HE DIDN'T TRAVEL HE NEVER MOVED HIS PIVOT FOOT I hate people who don't know the rules and run their stupid mouths.

  • @onepokergod1 And he got 4 thumbs ups so there are a lot of dumb people out there.

  • @onepokergod1 nope he traveled your wrong

  • @onepokergod1 actually if you watch his right foot lands on the line then he takes a step with it so it is a travel

  • Comment removed

  • @TheCelticsforlife The left foot is the pivot foot. Your pivot does not need to be the first foot you land on.

  • @punkdrmr07 If you land on one foot, followed by the second, the first one to land is ALWAYS your pivot. You don't get a choice.

  • @onepokergod1 umm actually ur stupid because the way he landed his right foot would have to be his pivot foot considering it landed first then he put down his left foot then picked up the foot he first landed on and put it down. That's three steps so it = traveling.

  • @ILikeBabys4Breakfast read the rules you ignorant idiot

  • The blame falls on the two offensive players who missed making effective screens on the defenders of their two teammates who were the primary options of the in-bounds passer. One can easily find fault with that passer who (1) should have thrown a second earlier to #11; and (2) threw the ball too high and away. But let's not pin the blame on our own team...

  • @tawpdahg1 exactly, shitty execution yet they still blame the refs.

  • i actually thought the same thing when it happened. then forgot about it.

  • @shoeler3519 well maybe you should quit suckin dick then faggot

  • Thats the rule for NBA, NCAA is different

  • @BJThaBaller13 hes actually reading you NCAA rules... sorry bro

  • I lost 5k on this game because of that call

  • Hope u get more views so sponsors pay u.

  • Doesn't look to me like it cost Syracuse the game though. They still had almost a minute left in a tie game. I could see if they were actually losing and this gave the ball to the opposing team with the ability to run down the clock or something like that. Sounds like you're being a little over-dramatic to me...

  • ANYWAY NEXT YEAR WERE GOIN TO BE GOOD WHEN MELO FINDS HIS WAY THIS OFF SEASON AND CRISTMAS COMES AND KRIS STAYS WE WILL BE GOOD.

  • thank you for taking time to explain this. very helpful.

  • his left foot was still down AKA his pivit foot

  • even if they didnt call it, he still traveled.

  • @ModdedDuck PEOPLE CANT COUNT HE TOOK 2 STEPS

  • @yankees0088 no, he landed on 2 feet, then picked up his pivot foot.

  • @ModdedDuck no he didnt he jump right foot lands first then left and his left foot is still down he can move his right foot where ever he still has a pivit

  • @yankees0088 no, because you cannot move your first foot that you landed on because that is your pivot foot.

  • @ModdedDuck yes he did he landed on his right foot first.

  • @ModdedDuck he moved his feet after the ref blew the whistle. you cant really tell cause theres no sound in the clip

  • Wow that sounds so complicated.

If I get it right, as long as one of your leg last touch the front court, you can catch the ball and land anywhere in the court. Right?

  • @yes4me he can catch the ball in mid air, anywhere on the court. its only an over and back if he brings it into their court then back over the line. hope i made it clear

  • nice catch!!

  • i agree this happen to the los angels lakers on a resent game in march and they had the correct call

  • The country is crumbling, starting another war, and is printing money like mad and people are bitching about some dudes foot on a line? We are fucked!

  • basketball is boring

  • @penguin311magic true, it got boring the NBA was better before.....it was more entertaining.

  • NOT A TRAVEL.

    NOT A TRAVEL.

    NOT A TRAVEL.

    NOT A TRAVEL.

    NOT A TRAVEL.

He did not have full possesion of the ball. You can see right as he puts his foot down, he is bobbling the ball in his right hand.

  • Comment removed

  • BullShit call!!

  • DAT TRAVEL.

  • two turnovers over and back and an obvious travel if this was after a timeout, blame the coaches, the player had a brain fart and made two turnovers in one play, syracuse fell aprt in this game and the marquette dude nailed that trey. boom!

  • he traveled !!!

  • you are wrong. he went from the front court into the back court. easy call. he started in the front court and lept into the back court it being an inbounds pass is irrelevant he needed to let the ball get into the backcourt before catching it the ref and everyone else knows the rule playing that card is lame the backcourt rule is one everyone who watches basketball knows syracuse admitted they screwed up

  • @Oblomovs1 no the way your saying it is if he was like out of bounds and came in and caught it it would be called out of bounds since that is were he started it goes by were u are when u get the ball since he was in the back court when he caught it and moved to the front its all good because the ball was not in play until he caught it ( so the ref messed up )

  • Doesn't matter if Syracuse was any good they would of beat Marquette by more than a few points.

  • Top 3 worst call in the tourney so far T_T

He didn't travel dipshits, you're allowed to pivot AROUND one of your feet...

  • WE WON FUCK YOU ORANGEMEN!

  • Why the hell is this a 3 minute video? You showed the same damn thing over and over and over again.

  • ref blew it n fuck marquette

  • k. cool. traveling anyway.

  • So if that one call cost them the game you are saying they made every shot, made no turnovers and played a perfect game without any mistakes the entire game. Quit making excuses for Saracuse losing. They got beat end of story!

  • @lshocker45 First off its Syracuse retard. 2nd off so based on that logic, that means that Michael Jordan's Bulls aren't as good as the Jazz at the time because he made a buzzer beater so that means they weren't the better team in your eyes. Because if they were a better team they should have made every shot and that one play shouldn't have won them the game. Game's are won by every single point including the last one, which makes every point crucial. Think before you comment next time.

  • @lshocker45 The officials have one job to do. That is to enforce the rules of the game, however it seems that in this day they don't want to do it and instead blown calls are the norm not the exception. By saying "too bad for your team." Instead of demanding action, the official doesn't get punished and is going to do this again.

This has happened around 6 times in this month alone.

  • @lshocker45 No dipshit, hes saying they could have won if this didnt happen.

  • @lshocker45 saracuse?

  • @lshocker45 thats what a game consists of, your an idiot, maybe IF ALL THE CALLS WERE RIGHT then we would be able to see who the better team is.... and btw i barely watch basketball so i dont give a fuk who won

  • @lshocker45 You didn't watch this game did you?

  • @lshocker45 I don't even keep up with basketball but I can tell you one play can change an entire game.

  • @lshocker45 It's called MOMENTUM

  • @lshocker45 That's not how it works, If it's that close of a game and a mistake by the ref occurs it can cost the game. Regardless, of how many shots were made or rebounds etc. That call may have cost them the game, but, It's over with you can't change whats already done. If so, I would never stop bitching about the Music City Miracle.

  • A ref made a mistake. Big woop. Refs make weird calls all the time

  • youtube.com/watch?v=8xXyx7333sY&feature=related

  • your foot cannot land on the line if it's an inbound.... coming off a time out within two minutes... stuop crying

  • @magiccow64

He's not whining about it, really. As a matter of fact, you're just being a spas.

  • It was a bad call it should have been reversed, but no one else stepped up to review the call. Too bad for syracuse they played a good game so did MU, marquette came up clutch next play with a 3! I bet syracuse was going to go for two. Who cares they lost it happens. All that matters is MU is advancing. From the kind of lucky they had this season THEY DESERVE ONE CALL THAT GOES THEIR WAY. I am a MU fan and i dont bitch about the games MU SHULD HAVE WON. i rest my case go MU WE WILL UPSET NC 100%

  • thats a pretty solid argument, vcize, refs clearly did not know the rules. Should have been called for a travel instead you cant walk with the ball unless you dribble duh lol

  • well its not the refs fault he's not a human computer

  • Who cares, anyway? Basketball sucks.

  • he travled any way so it dnt matter marquette won syracuse lost so face it its over.....

  • @vonzswaylo100 he didnt travel at all

  • whhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • In the history of contested sports, the referees have NEVER called a mistake-free game. I'm sorry your team lost, but you need to find a better way to deal with it than blaming the officials. Maybe blame the orange for shooting just 71% from the free-throw line...

  • @BrianRedLion its the fact of the matter that this was just a call that even a middle school ref should know and understand...
