I honestly think Anette is a good singer, however, I don't think she was the best choice for Nightwish.

That's a matter of opinion, but what isn't is that her voice simply does not fit with their older songs, because they were written for an operatic singer. Why don't they bring on an opera singer for their earlier stuff, and keep Anette on for their newer stuff? It could really work. The band doesn't have to have one lead vocalist.

naturally I adore Tarja...but Anette is differently great!! ^^ I think nightwish have made the right choice choosing Anette, because they can develop in a different way...a part of their discography made of opera songs, and the latter part that is another kind of rock, that's all ;)

Nightwish as a band is amazing. I never knew the old songs until I heard Annette sing them. These songs are amazing and She does an amazing job with them. Think about this, there are 23 million hits on Amaranth and 11+ on Bye Bye Beautiful if they had not done something right then there would be much less. These numbers are amazing and it just shows this bands success and also there appeal so learn to love and live with it.

nope, but both songs are played in standard on the E string. Similar style (palm muting and such), but no, the riffs are different. I personally love both songs, this and Creeping Death both kick ass!

If you had ever even checked the Nightwish forum, you would have discovered LOTS of wonderful people with amazing voices. There were so many ladies who sent Nightwish covers and even their own compositions, with their own bands, to Nightwish. I can think of at least 5 of them who were really really good in my opinion. But I don't know if either of them was contacted by the band, because they didn't express the spirit. Apparently, imo too, Anette does.
