  • Heck, that's a lot easier than I thought!

  • Hi, I have 5years old chocolate lab. I never brushed his teeth till now. Do I need to brush his teeth twice a day (since he is adult dog!). I saw mild brown scale formed on his last teeth. Please advise me. Nice Vid!!!

  • what happened? sorry I was looking at your assistant the entire video..

  • @VetVid My dog squirms alot when I try to brush his teeth :( what can I do about that? Great vid :)

  • Very helpful sit. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • this veterinarian is fabulous.

  • How do you clean a Dogs arse?

  • Hi, I recently bought a chihuahua, his only 10 weeks old. I tried to brush his teeth with gauze, however, all he does it biting it so it makes it impossible to brush his teeth. I sucessfully brushed one of his teeth while I was holding him with a stong grip, but he didnt like it very much. Question for you: Should I buy a toothpaste and a toothbrush and try again? And whats the best method to do it? Havent brushed his teeth in one week so his breath is starting to smell a little bad :)

  • My dog never let's me she will like squirm 

  • raw feeding will clean a dogs teeth naturally.

  • Hi Vet Vid, quick question about brushing - I noticed when you started brushing lolas teeth she started licking so her jaw was moving. I find when I brush my dogs teeth because he licks so much I cant really get the toothbrush on his lower teeth, it just slips off into his mouth. I use the same brush and product you have in your video as well.

  • @pinkwonderpower try a ball or kong toy in the mouth while brushing.

  • What if you dont have a dog toothbrush what then ?

  • @Iglamourmakeup I have used very soft bristled toddler toothbrushes on my small (10 lb) dogs' teeth. When you're at the store looking at tooth brushes, the bristle stiffness should be printed on the upper corner of the package (hard, medium, soft, etc.).

  • Who the bell brushes their dog's teeth every day? Shit, you have people who barely do that.

  • I have one question, I'm starting to brush my dogs teeth to get her used to it and she's only 4 months, so how many times do I brush her teeth daily??

  • @daisy3854 once a day

  • great video you guys^^

  • :)

  • This video is very helpful! I have question though. My dog had really bad breath and almost all his teeth went missing from not getting his teeth cleaned for the longest time. My parents can't afford a vet for him. Is possible that if we buy toothpaste and a toothbrush and we brush his teeth, he will be a lot better? Or do we have to worry about the infections that was just mentioned in the video?

  • very helpul video but i honestly couldnt concentrate much on the details since i couldnt take my eyes off mandy.

  • Lola is too CUTE!!!!!!!! + this is a great vid thanks

  • What about if your dog hates you brushing their teeth? How do we do it then?

  • Very helpful!

  • Hi where can I get a dog tooth brush and tooth paste could you let me know please and thank you

  • great video! would you recommend oral care sprays for the teeth?

  • @DiorChristian08 There are good and bad types of flushes. Always consult with your veterinarian. Thank you...glad you like it.

  • Hey guys this was fantastic. I just started working for City Vet here in Dallas Tx and work across the street at their boarding and grooming facility as as ACA ( Animal care attendant ) We don't brush the teeth over here only at the vet, but this is really helpful so IF I am requested to do so then I can. Thanks :)..

  • @VetVid do they need to rinse?

  • AHHHH!!! @2:13 SQUEEZE FROM THE BOTTOM!!!

  • my dog just bit my finger when I tried this so I beat the shit out of her (joking)

  • does it have to be tooth brushes designed for dogs???

  • thank you for the video it was most helpful we just had to put our long time pal down the other day , it is very important to have his or her teeth checked when seeing the vet, they were very bad and had to have some pulled , ,also kidney problems and finally she was not eating , so did not want to see her starving to death , so he is at rest ,,,,

  • What kind of dog is Lola?

  • @kingvidiot66 Lola is a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix. She is great with kids and has a lot of energy

  • but my dog has gingavitis :(

  • my dog moves wayy to much to brush its teeth -___-

  • My dog doesn't like to get his teeth brushed, I tried different flavours and he doesn't seem to enjoy getting his teeth brushed. When i try not to force him he goes in a corner and sits there for a while to make sure i wont brush his teeth. What do i do?

  • Nice Cartier watch doc

  • THE TOOTHEBRUSH IS SOO COOL!!! can i use it? loljk

  • Thanks for this it was helpful :)

  • I got my doggie the beef tasting toothpaste and a little yellow toothbrush that you put on your finger. Make's life a WHOLE lot easier! ^^

  • Very helpful video. Thank you.

My doctor told me to not use toothpaste. Is this okay? I brush my dogs teeth almost everyday (I miss some days) because her teeth are starting to get tartar build up. Due to her sensitive stomach I cannot switch her food so a dental diet is out of the question but where can I find water additives? At a pet store?

She uses a daily dental chew stick (NOT denta stix).

What is your opinion on the Denta Stix? They seem to be very good at making dogs sick!

  • @Dannnnnie Best to get water additives from your vet. Talk to your vet which chewies are best...esp if IBD.

  • @Dannnnnie

Some human toothpaste contains chemicals that are not good for dogs.

  • In the wild dogs kill their prey and gnaw on the carcass. They have more of a dental workout then now that they are with us. Plus their life expectancy wasn't as long as when domesticated, so the problems with gingivitis didn't occur s much, if at all. If you want to have a healthy long lived pet, with less vet bills, brushing is an easy thing to do. Just find the taste of toothpaste your dog likes and you will be set.

  • ugh! stupid question. is there no need to rinse after brushing their teeth? tnx!

  • @bluieful no.

  • Great info and demonstration- thank you!

  • Thank you so much for posting this!!!! I found it extremely helpful!!!

  • my dog would never let me brush her teeth and it got so annoying

*solution: dental chew sticks "very tasty very healthy very helpful"

its as easy as that people!

  • hey, my dog always moves his head when i try to brush his teeth. he hates it, any way I can have him like it?

  • How do you brush the front teeth? My dog doesn't like his front teeth being brushed.

  • hi, my dog wont let me open her mouth to brush her teeth; she keeps trying to chew on the toothbrush. what can i do that will allow me to brush her teeth>

  • @hanjaessi A kong toy or tennis ball may help open their mouth. There are dental diets that can also be very helpful.

  • Hmmm people really need to stop treating animals like people. And I repeat zachdelarocha8's comment: how did dogs brush their teeth in the wild? Next they'll be offering in vitro fertilization for dog couples trying to conceive....

  • Give it Denta Sticks and a bone and take it to te vet 1 time at 2 months, thats it -.-

  • How did dogs every brush their teeth in the wild?

  • i have a dog lola

  • umm at what age does a dog start brushing its teeth´s

and how many times a week

  • umm at what age does a dog start brushing its teeth´s

  • if i only brushed her teeth like once a week and gave her dental sticks would that do enough to protect her from tartar or should i really brush every day?

  • I don't brush my dogs daily but I use the dental stick daily and brush them every week, there teeth don't seem bad, is that a problem?

  • @Koldness99 yeah, i dont think that's right... i have a "puppies for dummies" book and it says that it's rarely possible to brush daily so it can be done twice a week or once a week

  • daily?!

  • What if the dog doesn't let you brush its teeth?

  • You forgot a couple things on the list of things that you can do other than brushing. You can use dental pads, or dental spray. Also I know you said and showed in the video that you can do it fast but when you do it fast it doesn't do as good of a job as it would if you took your time. The enzymes in the toothpaste do most of the work but you have to do some work too.

  • Take it from John Travolta

  • My dog has very bad breath, brushing her teeth doesn't help this situatuon at all. Any advice?

  • @rottweilers523 Please have your veterinarian check teeth... they likely need to be cleaned first

  • @VetVid My dogs love meat but I bought one that is mint and he barks and bites me and hates him to brush his teeth any advice? Also how much did the toothbrush and toothpaste cost? Thanks

  • I use a finger tooth brush. Its like a normal toothbrush but you put in on your finger. Is that okay?

  • @clubpenguin580 yes, those work well too!

  • Lola is so cute! Also when She opened her mouth i think those molars were yellow? ._. it scared me but i like her front teeth alot!

  • What about 3 or four times a week? Because i might need to skip days...

  • if u like get a chicken flavor one doesnt that make their breath smell like chicken??

  • You shouldn't brush teeth horizontally, it's damaging. Incline the brush at a 45° angle against the gumline and sweep or roll the brush away from the gumline.

  • Thank you so much for captioning this video! You rock!

  • great vid! did not know that I had to brush everyday. can i upload u a pic of my dogs mouth? he seems to have a cracked tooth. eating normal.

  • thanks for the advive vet if you still tell more about cleaning teeth like helpful removing tarter and plaque

  • the tooth paste is edible right? i saw lola licking it :P

  • Brushing my dogs teeth has really improved the smell of his breath!

  • @pohai710 GREAT!

  • @VetVid LOL SARCASM :P

  • Beautiful dog! What breed is she?

  • @rapluvr1 Lola is a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix. She is great with kids and has a lot of energy.

  • @VetVid I have a jack russel chihuahua mix colored like a min pin but looks like lola

  • can u use a baby toothbrush i cant get a dog one ??

  • @spoons2007 yes, a pediatric toothbrush is ok.

    :)

  • hot chick!

  • wont it make there breath smell like polutry or what ever flavor u use?

  • does it make their breath smell weird?

  • i want that dog!! cuteee!

  • hehe this is so lol

  • I love you, Mandy

  • I can not buy dog toothpaste in my country! what should I do now?

  • I have a 5 month old cavalier king charles and i want to know how many times a day should i brush his teeth. i also want to know if you recommend a certain type of toothpaste

  • is it ok to brush it every second day?

  • how often should u do this?

  • @purplemakeuplove

you brush your dogs teeth everyday like humans do.

  • Great video

  • Great video

  • Are you supposed to rinse his mouth, Or do they lick it clean?

  • can i use Colgate to brush my Dog's teeth?

Do I really need to clean my dogs ears?

  • @planetuploads No. You need to use dog toothpaste. For one thing, human toothpastes contain foaming agents that aren't meant to be swallowed, and since dogs are poor at spitting, people pastes can make them sick. What's more, dogs don't care for our mint-flavored toothpastes and the experience will be easier with the flavors they enjoy.

  • @planetuploads About the ear cleaning, you can ask your vet, it depends on the dog.

  • @planetuploads

do not use colgate. it's not good for them

  • @planetuploads - It is the mechanical action of the brush that eliminates 99% of the plaque, tooth paste is really not necessary.

  • @planetuploads You shouldn't use human toothpaste b.c it's not good to swallow...

  • my puppy is changing her teeth. is it okay to brush her teeth or should I wait until all of her adult teeth will grow?? 2 incisors fell and they're starting to grow..

so, should I wait till all of her teeth grow fully or is it ok to start brushing her teeth??

  • @3333alex okay to wait...but it is not a problem to start now to get used to the process.

  • i wish my dog would let me brush his teeth like lola -_- i doubt it. my pooch is stubborn

  • do these toothpaste and brush cost alot?

  • i tried so many times to brush my dog's teeth... he doesn't bite or anything. but he doesn't stay still =/

  • No need to do this when dogs and cats are on the Raw Diet, totally raw meat and bones!

  • i just brushed my fluffy dog's teeth : )

  • my dog had periodontal disease, his breathe was terrible but today he went to the vet and he got 8 of his teeth extracted. Now he no longer has it, we just have to make sure we brush his teeth on daily basis. before he had it i was brushing his teeth but for some reason it just wasn't working.

  • Good vid, thanks. I am going to start brushing my dogs teeth from now. I just checked his mouth and his teeth looks fine, thank god

  • my dog won't open his mouth, ...impossible to reach his teeth...

try doing it to a pug or similar... good luck!

the inside of my teeth don't clean just with the tongue, why dogs do....????

  • my pom loves his toothpaste. he loves the beef flavor. it sounds cruel but the trick for me is once i let the brush in his mouth, i gently close his mouth and brush the side otherwise he will keep on licking and chewing and make it harder for you.

  • that's why i use 100% natural products so that me & my dogs are able to use products together.

  • For one thing, human toothpastes contain foaming agents that aren't meant to be swallowed, and since dogs are poor at spitting, people pastes can make them sick. What's more, dogs don't care for our mint-flavored toothpastes and the experience will be easier with the flavors they enjoy.

  • why cant i use human tooth paste?

  • What if my dog's teeth are falling apart and look like they are infected. Can I use baking soda to help with the infection to help the cleaning proses. Plus her breath stinks really bad. Is there anything i can do at home instead of spending $100's on the vet bill. I have 13 year old dog that's why I ask. please help if u can, thnks.

    Alla

  • @fatlazecat well, if you WERE a responsible dog owner, you WOULD take your dog to the vet and SPEND the money anyway

  • @fatlazecat RAW DIET! Raw meat AND bones! YT "dogs on raw diet"

  • i tried to brush my dog's teeth and a few days later it through up. i dont think that my dog swallowed any but yeah... is there anyway to clean my dog's mouth without it throwing up? my sheltie has never ever brushed his teeth except that one time ... PLEASE HELP!

  • @realtvfan18 How do you know it is related a few days later? Use dog tooth paste. Try a different flavor. May not have been the toothpaste.

  • @VetVid my mom told me he vomited... it seems that he threw up the toothpaste oh waitt now ik.. he swallowed it!

  • My puppy hesitates when i try to brush his teeth what do i do?! any advice?

  • We brought my dog to the vet and they said she has tardar on her teeth she already lost some of her teeth so we are now brushing them she's a little over three years she's about twelve pounds will those teeth ever grow back??

  • @tazio998 sorry, no they will not grow back.

  • @hammi421 im not sure but my puppy does tht to me aswell what i did was to give him a treat and calm him down abit

  • My chihuahua dont let me brush his teeth, he bites ): What should i do?

  • @icouldflyuphigh normally i just calm him down and giving him a treat will do but im not sure if it work on ur dog or puppy

  • thanx 4 this video

  • I have a dog named Cindy i got her from someone my mom knows she has horrible teeth there is tartar build up like crazy and they are in very bad condition if i were to brush her teeth everyday would they become whiter and we are planing to take her to the vet but my mom said that dental clean ups are probably a lot of money we live in Canada do you have any idea what the cost is down here ? Thanks :)

  • Thanks, I love this video.

  • chichuahua...

  • i jus notice day one of dogs tooth is loose... his gum is red...and i have notice his breath change.. his a small chiguagua how ever u spell it... is his tooth going to be removed? am really scaried... his 3 years old...

  • my chihuahua got 2 of her teeth removed so i realized the prob with not brushing my dog's teeth daily. Before the vet's checkup i didnt know how to brush my dog's teeth and when i tried to brush the gums are swollen and bleeding. since my dog is a small dog, how can i clean the back teeth without scaring him?

  • Mandy is cute. lol And so is the dog.

  • @cusimac : )

  • thanks

  • your dentist assistant is adorable :) ...oh and so is the dog! thanks for the vid!

  • Hi, I spread the OraVet gel along my pet's teeth and gum line. Can I still brush her teeth?

  • @drywall123 yes, you can

  • what kind of dog is that...shes adoribal !!! im looking for a dog to adopt and i want what ever kind she is.

  • @whymeee12333 Lola is a Jack Russel Chihuahua mix. She is great with kids and has a lot of energy

  • I have a question.I am getting a baby Chihuahua and I was wondering when I should start brushing it's teeth.Oh and thanks for the video.

  • @funcathall Start brushing at a young age is good. At 4-6 months old, adult teeth will be coming in. Have your veterinarian check that all deciduous (puppy teeth) have come out at time of neuter/spay. It is common in Chihuahuas to have retained teeth that cause tartar build up at an early age.

  • Well i have never brush any of my dogs teeth and they have perfect teeth and never had any health problems.

Also i have never heard of brushing a dogs teeth...

  • @carloscuba89 Genetics play a big role. Also, some people fail to look at the upper back molars and think the teeth are perfect. As veterinarians looking at teeth everyday, we see the disease and the secondary problems.

  • Well i have never brush my dogs teeth, but i also never known that you needed to brush their teeth?

My dogs never had any health problems and their teeth have always been white and perfect.

  • I know this is about dogs but my cat won't even let me try without biting me. He has already lost 2 teeth. When I try to force his mouth open I'm afraid I'm hurting his lips.

  • @picatsoforfma we have a cat teeth brushing video coming out this next week. Subscribe to get notified when it is up. Hope it will help. Thanks.

  • Great job on this video. Very helpful and the speaking was clear and concise. Thanks for the good instructions.

  • my dog keeps licking the toothpaste when i try to brush him.. i need help

  • @FunnyMoviee A ball or chew toy like a "Kong toy" are good at holding the mouth open... makes it easier to clean the lower back molars.

  • Why cannot one use human toothpaste?

  • But sharing your tube of toothpaste with your dog isn't such a good idea. For one thing, human toothpastes contain foaming agents that aren't meant to be swallowed, and since dogs are poor at spitting, people pastes can make them sick. What's more, dogs don't care for our mint-flavored toothpastes and the experience will be easier with the flavors they enjoy.

  • @VetVid But will their breath still smell fresh with the dog toothpaste?

  • @vonbrach Keeping your dog's mouth healthy will help in keeping their breath less offensive. But it's still "dog-breath". : )

  • Comment removed

  • so sorry to hear that.: (

  • @freddythecanine how did it get heart disease because of dirty teeth??

  • hey doc you got some great stuff, youve been really helpful

  • thanks so much, your comment is appreciated.

  • My dog just tries to eat the toothbrush. It's very difficult to keep her mouth still. Any suggestions?

  • Sometimes a favorite toy or tennis ball can be placed in the mouth to hold it open. Also, there are finger brushes that may be easier to use vs putting a toothbrush in their mouth. As always, be careful not to get bit:)

  • Toothpaste isn't necessary is it? I brush my dogs' teeth 4 - 5 times a week but I never use toothpaste. Is it mainly just so the dog enjoys it more, or is there other benefits?

  • it so the toothpaste can kill more bacteria and helps the dog enjoy it more so the owner can be in the habit of it. Plus you prevent so many bad diseases like from the video too so if i were u i wouldnt use just water and a toothbrush

  • @misterniko171 The enzymatic tooth paste actually kills bacteria and helps polish teeth. Dogs like the flavored paste and it may make the experience enjoyable.

  • Thanks for this so helpful. I haven't brushed my dogs teeth in a year. but he only has a little bit of tartar so I'm trying to make up for that lost time.

  • can your dog swallow the doggy toothpaste?

  • like people, the amount for brushing is not a problem. dogs like the taste and will swallow it.

  • Thank you for your video
