  • Looking forward to a pump. I did my 1st class. Diabetes is depressing n sickening.25 yrs. I'm 39 now. Pain pain pain

  • I was wondering... Whenever I give a bolus dose on my ping it almost always gives me a correction even if it was 1 point higher than my average number. How did u not need a correction?

  • Could you make a video of how to change the infusion set? And possibly some trouble shooting? thank you. Also, could you explain the correction formula. I'd really appreciate it, but understand it's a lot to ask..

  • Great Videos. It's important that I saw your Video channel as I want to learn more. Great work!.

  • Thanks for the Video, very informative. I have a question for you. If you check your BG with a different meter and input the carbs and BG directly into the pump, will it sync it with the Ping meter later when they are together again? My daughter is on a 2020 now and we are thinking of upgrading, but I'm not sure if I want her to take the Ping meter to school. But I want the carb and BG info to be in the meter to compare them. Does that make sense?

  • I get mine in 3 months I cant wait. thanks for the video

  • Tuesday it will be here! Im pretty excited to get started!

  • I LOVE ONE TOUCH!!!!! lol

  • Thanks for the video, Suz! I am trying to go through Animas' Access Program to get a recertified Ping. I chose the green one too! So, if all goes well, I will get one! :-) Yey!

  • @SugabeticDotCom I saw on twitter that you were considering a tubed pump again. Will Animas let you get a Ping or a 2020? Either is good though :)

  • I am getting a ping. i have never had a pump. do u like it.

  • Love my ping but honestly I would have loved any pump since it gives me the control I want :)

  • how much is this pump btw?

  • I think it is about the same as other pumps, around $6500 and most insurance companies will cover part if not all of the cost for you.

  • @brittasbay - Medicaid are real dookey heads about paying for a pump but at least they pay for this one :)

  • OK i agree with you , but what if i'm taking two types of insulin over inconsistent times per day..how does the ping work that out? and also how do you determine the amount of carbs in food , not all food has nutrition facts on the back you know..

  • When you pump you stop taking the long lasting insulin and just use fast acting. The pump gives you tiny amounts of insulin over the course of each hour of the day (you and your doc set this basal pattern up) and you just bolus for carbs when you eat a meal. When your basal is right you no longer have to be on a strict meal schedule which is great. For foods without labels I use the Calorie King book or the WAG system (wild a** guess).

  • what the hell is cool about this device?? it simply a BURDEN. pumps, batteries, recharging, wireless and connection errors, entering carbs and figures. I belive the traditional methods are waaay easier.

  • Pumping is not for everyone, it is a personal decision you can make if MDI is not working for you. MDI didn't work well for me, too many rollercoaster numbers, too little choice in what I was eating, and an A1C that wasn't low enough even for all the hard work I was doing trying to get control. A pump made my diabetes management easier and gave me options I never had before being on NPH and Humalog together. You should always do what works best for you and your diabetes management.

  • I have had type 1 for over 23 years. I do have a friend who is type 2 who uses a Ping pump too. Hers is pink :)

  • Hey I get my ping next week I can't wait. I'v been injecting since 83. No more 6 shots a day. Keep up the good job. It helps give hope.

  • That is just f-ing retarded! How can you work your pump from ur blood meter 9 feet away! I carry a cell phone, keys, and wallet.

  • Ridiculous eh? I'm getting one soon and I can't wait.

  • Nice video. How do find reading the meter. At a demo I needed to have the backlight on all the time. The contrast didn't do much for me. Also I know you can create a favorites database of foods. It seems like it would take a while to go thru that list to enter everything you may be eating. I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thanks

  • You can adjust the contrast which helps ALOT on this meter. I rarely have to use the backlight. It does take time to enter what you are eating in the database but it is really worth it if there are certain foods you eat all the time. It comes loaded with a decent database, I only deleted about 150 foods out of it & then started adding stuff I eat in.

  • Thanks for the quick response. If you don't mind can you tell me what your contrast is set to? Thanks

  • Mine is set an -3. You are more than welcome!

  • The teacher at the pump class that I went to said that the ping is better then the omipod because if you loose the meter/controller, you still can bolus from the pump.

  • That is a down side to the Omnipod but I believe they are working to change that so you can bolus from the pod if you lose your meter PDM. So if you are prone to losing meters, then one of the tubed pumps would be better. At least there will be a new tubeless pump within a year, it's called the solo and you can bolus from the pod part.

  • Yeah, I heard about that, dosen't that sound so cool!

  • im type 1 diabetic im 13 riqqht and i have the one touch ping lime green i love it just got it yesterdayyy!!

  • oh! BTW I noticed you have the acuchek multiclix finger pricker. Isn't that thing great?

  • Good for you. I'm getting my free omnipod trial on monday, but if I'm not satisfied i'm going with the ping.

  • my pump is being delivered on wednesday! and my pump start is july second. im wayy excited!

  • That is right around the corner! I am excited for you!

  • Thanks for posting this. I am waiting on final approval from my insurance company for my pump. If all goes well, I'll have my blue Ping next week!

  • I am excited for you! No matter what brand pump a person gets it is an awesome thing. Pumping makes diabetes care easier once you get the hang of it

  • Wow, the pump is really small. The glucometer seems waaaay bigger than the pump.

  • The glucometer is a bit bigger than the pump. I sometimes use a One Touch mini which is way smaller than the Ping meter. But if I use the mini, I have to touch the pump to take insulin which I prefer not to do. So I use the Ping meter 99% of the time. Keep in mind my first glucometer was the size of a brick so the Ping meter still seems small to me :) I am glad meters have gotten smaller, hahaha!

  • Awesome. I am so glad you made this video I can finally see how it works!!!

Snarky after 9 feet... love it... lol.... Oh my I must say, you have cricket making noise in the background, I stopped your video because I thought there was one in my room. lol :-) Great vid, thanks for putting it up!

  • Yeah my husband's tarantula cage is right next to my PC and he had just gone and gotten more crickets for the spider. As you can tell, they are really loud! I don't even notice them anymore.

  • Yeah, I guess the size of the the meter is worth sacrificing for the ability to not touch the pump when you bolus. I didn't know that older meters were that big! thank goodness for technical progress! ttyl.

  • w0w you know a lot of Mike's lol. Well yeah I see my Dr. on June 1st. w00t for check up and my pump forms being filled out. Hmm now what color Ping ... pink? ... well I am out of school and alive ... two good things if you ask me. Well hope all your tests went well for scool. ... yeah we should talk again soon :)

    Michael ^_^

  • I do know alot of Mike's that are diabetic. I even dated a t1 in high school named Mike, hahaha! You should get a pink ping, it will show that you are comfy in your manhood :) Let me know when you want to catch up....

  • Mike, hopefully the whole insurance thing will be all worked out and you can get a pump soon. You will do great on one!

  • I'm so jealous. I want a pump.

    PATIENCE. PATIENCE. PATIENCE.

Thanks for making me want one even more.
