Slow? I'm confused... I mean, compared to a real battle, yeah, it's slow, but for a modern day exhibition match, that's a decently fast pace. I've seen vids far slower and with more unnecessary flourishing. I liked this.
ok, they are demonstrating, but thats slow and i have done kung fu since i was 7 so i know its not fair to say but he is shit with that spear, the spear is a momentum weapon not a weapon which to slash at someone with. you have to learn how to flow one attack into the next
Secound. Its not realistic? Your ok with a guy walking with a sword and a spear down the street and suddendly attacking each other, but when he he dosent aim for his friends head, thats where you draw the line.

I believe the spear though, in its history of warfare has killed more and done more, especially with the mass use of phylinx systems through acient Greece.
A spear user has an advantage over a sword user as long as he can keep his distance. my friend and I are part of a fire dancing troupe at our univercity and use a firestaff against a fire sword as part of our act. neither of us has formal training but in our experience the sword is only most effective at middle distances. if you are too far away or too close then the staff/spear user has the advantage.

I wish i could handle a spear, ever since i watched Musa the Warrior. I didn't think it would be that effective against other weapons such as swords, but it is. shaolinmantis77 bro, you seem like you do this in real life. Is the Spear a good weapon? One of the best maybe? And do you like to handle it, is it fun etc.
It takes a person with a sword (at least saumrai sword) 3 times the normal effort to fight evenly with a spear, since most spears are twice as long. So yeah a spear is probably one of the best, but spears deal A LOT of minor blows while swords give Few but very DECISIVE hits. really i guess it all comes down to preference. (in a sword VS spear scenario)
