@TGODKID see the vid and read the message i sent you. this is 5 year old shit. wait till you see us in the forest. read the message. and yes see my water stealth vids of me underwater on a volcano in a high elevation mt lake. see me underwater breathing with my sword case as breathing tube. see my snow stealth vids in the mts in snow in white ninja gear. see me do cartwheels to no handed rolls in uneven forest floor over rocks. my outdoor vids will blow you mind. i sent you one
@TGODKID well one never knows. but you need to explore my vids more my friend.i am black belt level on over 30 weapons. i am ranked in japan in the bujinkan. i spent 6 years in the bujinkan. i do have vids doing focus mitts. light sparring vids. and many grappling vids doing samurai bujutsu. like i said only see vids after 100 but go see 89. i am training a new guy. every technique i can do full on harcore. notice foot placement and covering feet. i know japanese name for it all. read my bio
I enjoyed your video however I could not help but notice the two doors adjacent to each other in the background. It seems as though their functionality would be limited in such positions...Perhaps they open in different directions? Or was this simply a design flaw? Looking forward to your response.
@charger1970and68 you spell it wrong. i own every book by soke hatsumi. and spent 6 years in the bujinkan. it is shoge bro. and this is old gay vid. go to my new shit. this is 4 years old. my new shit will blow your mind. mountains. watefalls. real samurai armors i have on horses. lakes rivers cliffs. go see my channel. scroll down to vids 98-160. i number all training vids. see me use shoge vs sword in vid 107, i promise you will see me use it in a way no bujinkan guy ever did. go to vid 107
Do you believe in using these weapons for _actual_ self defense or do you learn them for enjoyment and as a celebration of their historical preservation?
If the latter, much respect for you. I've been learning sheng biao and some basic sword play recently for pure enjoyment. I've learned a little boxing and jiujitsu with friends, likewise for sport and fun.
But for self defense... don't bring a manriki to a gun fight.
Which rope/chain weapon is there where the chances of winning between that and a katana are about even? And the outcome of a battle between a katana (and wakizashi) and three of these weapons? I don't really know how these things work in battle.^^ Thanks for showing us this by the way!
yo, kyoketsu shogei is also used as a climbong tool by ninja and the ring was also used as a foot hold when you start the climb and could also be used as a foot hold to swing from place to place. much like standing up on a swing set except thiers only enough space for one foot. you can picture it. and to make the manriki gusari pop out faster, try a wiping motion with your arm. it maximizes speed and damage that way. but this was a general overview, good overall job, just try aplying those tips.
go to vid 107 and i ride horses in samurai armor but i use shoge to disarm a sword in a way i have not even seen hatsumi do. and watch kyoketsu shoge part 1,2,3 and i have a vid 108 spring shinobi training and new vid with tons of demonstrations with shoge. disarming swordsman. check out my channel and see my new vids are nothing like this and new camera and better editing and 2 suits real armor and tamishigiri. blinding powders waterfalls mountains. wild stuff. take care
DUDE U RULE, haha me again i got some surikens cause u made them look so awesome and i have so much fun with them, thanks for showing me how to throw =)
then check out my kyoketsu shoge part 1,2,and 3 and they are all on this. and teaching. and then go to my video called nintaijutsu combat training part 1. and i use in combat at end and real cool stuff
I have always been fascinated by various weapons, I like your showcase, I like the Kusarigama(Though watching a demonstration of Houten Ryu makes me nervous). I never saw a demonstration of a manrikigusari before. Nice.
That guy looks pretty easy to beat and not very impressive with those simple swinging moves with a chain if he used it like he did on that bag it wouldn't do much
you obviously dont know about these weapons and it is not your fault not many people do. this chain weapon will shatter a coconut. if you barely take the metal end and just lightly tap against your head it hurts and it is got edges if you could see it up close. this would break a nose easily if sent out like i do on the bag and a distraction as well. also outside i swing full speed.
i don't think he was doing it as hard as he could. and he is right even thought it might not looks like much. Since your aren't expecting it you will be shocked. and even thought its small it has weight. since it has a small amount of weight and a long range the speed of the outstretch chain has a higher head speed when the arm when swung. It's like a small hammer being swung around. but yeah it would look very puny against a gun or something larger.
what is the real name of the weapon you are talking about. i dont know a rope dart. but once you can learn rope and chain weapons. you can learn any with practice
besides the african weapon awsomezorz mentions there is another with rope and 2 rocks and it can be used that way. i dont know the name of it. but with this weapons if people catch there are moves where you do a whip move and it wraps around there hand and hurts there arm real bad. and in ninjutsu anything can be thrown just like short sword or fan for distraction but i dont think thrown like you say because if you fail the attacker has your weapon.
I thought you did very good! You were natural and comfortable and clearly showed the technique. I feel like I learned alot and I am also inspired to create something similar. Now I need to see the other one.
thanks for watching mike i hope you watch the second part to this video called kyoketsu shoge. it might be my favorite ninja weapon other than the sword
I like that you made most of your training weapons, I like the KASURIGAMA the best for it's use to entangle the enemy.
Thanks for your info about the chain KYOKETSU SHOGE, I was thinking about getting one to try it out. I feel some of that stuff you see on the internet can be crap, I know I got a pair of hand claws and when I was trying them out on a semi rotted tree one of the claws came detached from the band.
Do you believe many of these weapon/tools are useful as climbing aids?
i have purchased two sets of climbing claws and one set sucked and the other i have climbed trees with. the foot claws when you buy them have ties that suck. i added my own rope and tied them like in hatsumis history and traditions book and worked. i will post vid in future how to properly tie feet claws and show how.
you must be one silent ninja big fella

Great video! Informative too. 5/5
xiayu27 3 years ago
Nice general overview.
Wouldn't mind seeing some lock and snare techniques though.
this weapon is one of the most powerful for defense. not because of the damage it can inflict but its other uses.
-its flexible chain means you can strike around your opponent's guard.
-It can be used to block a sword or Bo attack.
-it can be swung in a way that it wraps around an opponent's limbs or weapon,
you can even choke an opponent or tie their hands completely, pulling them to the ground...

manriki gusari was originaly a self defence weapon, until the ninja got thier hands on one.
