Was at the last game at Burnden Park, Come up with another Charlton fan, Some Bolton fans took us into a pub, Before the game, And we got well pissed, After the game, We got taken on a pub crawl, On Halliwell Road And ended up crashing at some lads house, Went back to London the next day. The Bolton fans were great to us, Good Lads. Northern hospitality at its best. Hope you stay up this season.
Awww i loved that place, remember it as a kid my dad took me to vs barnsley i think it was McGinley hatrick, penalty sending off and even had a streaker LOL Reebok can be good on a nice day but will never be the same :-(
@jimmyg34567 I knew it was '97, I was just surprised the Ford Ka had been out so long. It seems like a newer car to me than that. I thought it was only 5 or 6 years old.
burnden put the b in bolton wanderers the reebok is nothing compared to it, i miss the place so much the reebok will have a hell of a lot to live up to hey only think we might have 100 years if not less left ther then we can bring burnden back from the dead haha RIP burden park ur the biggest legend of bolton wanderers, what i aslo find sad is that when u type burden park it only comes up with this video we need more on
Atmosphere was the only thing burnden park going for it. Does anybody actually believe we could have attracted the quality of players we have had in recent years if we was still playing at that shithole?
maybe, but due to financial difficulties they had sell part of the ground to normid superstore [without which we would have gone bust] This left no room to for ground development. then there are other factors to take into consideration ;eg traffic, parking etc... it just wasnt a viable option.
i remember my dad sittin me on the rails while we watcheds the super white to this day i have never been to a football ground with a better atmosphere fuck the reebook
Burnden park was amazing, the atmosphere was always brilliant, because you could stand up. It would be better if the reebok was closer to town, and if it had standing areas, but its all health and safety now, can take away from the atmosphere. The reebok will nevver live up to Burnden.
i used to live right at the side on sharmen st. some of you probly cued up to get in on my street. i was only a kid and used to go in for the last ten minutes when the gates opened ha ha. who parked a car in the back street and it got robbed i think it was a red estate probly a ford. i seen someone robbing it out my bedroom window.GOOD TIMES
happy days, its just not the same at the reebok, theres just something missing, i was a manny road terrace north, great times, we are the one and only wanderers
Does anybody else remember "Muttlie" the Special Copper who used to hang round the front of the Burnden Stand looking for trouble makers in the Paddock?
It was a great time to start. I do still miss that ground. Absolutely gutted to hear Nat's died tonight, he was an absolute club legend. He'll be remembered well by every fan at the club. RIP Lofty.
I miss the old ground, but I'd hardly call the Reebok a shithole. If you ignore the fact that its less than 30,000 capacity it's one of the nicest looking grounds in the country and I'm proud to say I watch my team there every week.
RIP Burnden, you'll never be forgotten... the Normid Superstore may be in time though however.
burnden was a shit hole, but it was OUR shit hole, the reebok just dont have the atmosphere that that place had, even if i did only go to a handful of games at burnden park, i'd rather go there every week than the reebok for my £300
I'm a Colchester fan, and we've just moved from our original Layer Road ground to a plastic out-of-town all-seater piece of crap stadium, and the heart has been ripped out of our club too - I feel your pain.
For those who pine the loss of Burnden here is some food for thought. If all Bolton fans in history had thought the same then Burnden would never have been and the club would still be at Pikes Lane. Moving was the right thing to do.
i miss burnden the atopmshere was second to none going match with my dad running on the pitch when we got promoted never forget those burnden memories
At times like these, it is hard to be a wanderer and smile.................remembering Bruce Rioch, Colin Todd, SUPER John McGinlay, Andy Walker...........brings a tear to the eye and a smile to the face
brings bck memories. lived on other side of the motorway, walking under subway, the atmosphere around the stadium was unbelievable! especially of the last game at burnden!
Only went to Burnden Park once, for Lancs Cup final, Morecambe v. Southport in about 94 I think. Loved the place, history, character and all that. All these new identikit staduims can never come close to places like this for atmosphere!
Burnden Park is where my heart is! Thanks for the pics. Got the "N" from Bolton Wanderers on the old supporters club wall, hanging on my wall at home! How sad! Best game ever, 22/12/1978. BWFC 3 Man Utd 0. Worthy 2 and Gowling!
Burnden was never the same after the seats went into the Lever End, the best game I saw there was the 3-3 with Newcastle in the FA Cup 5th round. Nice clip.
are these pictures from the last game there was a band on the pitch before kick off at the last game

this might sound a bit bad but we could of bought the houses that were next to it and built the hotel ther and the other things

Just not the same anymore...a great stadium and a grand atmosphere... lost now to bland corperate marketing and greedy fools with unrealistic visions.
Why do we let pinstriped pricks ruin working class culture?
