Such an impressive warship. Not even meteorites could stop it. Too bad it took as little as an A-Wing crashing into its bridge to bring it down. The irony.
@sebbeas123 If you've played Star Wars Rogue Squadron III, then you would know that the Super Star Destroyer is built in a space shipyard. The last mission of the Wedge Antilles campaign is an attack on a Super Star Destroyer under construction.
**SPOILER**
You destroy the ship. The explosion is kick ass. Duh.
Shame this beast gets beaten by a fucking A Wing. In fact, ROTJ pisses me off so much. The diddy Rebel SCUM fleet defeats not only the Executor, but a dozen normal Star Destroyers and routs the several dozen others, god knows how many TIE fighters, oh cherry on top defeats the Death Star II....O.o unfair much? Also, a bunch of care bears and rednecks beat the 501st aka VADERS FIST Battalion??!! At least make the fall of the Empire believable. If not for my love of Jedi, it would be a outrage.
@ThePalaeontologist yeah the empire was very stupid in the final movie but empires tend to be very overconfident. They should had blew the shuttle up before it landed on endor.
Yes, Space Marines eat stormtroopers for breakfast, while Darktroopers eat Space Marines for breakfast. Oh, and the Galactic Empire shall smash the Imperium of Man.
i totally forgot the most important thing. THE PLOT. the federation would have a massive plot advantage over the starwars empire due to various growing alliances with former enemies and the rebel alliance never sides with the empire. also neutral enemies like the BORG would cause problems for all sides and the universal plot fact that good usually wins in the end. also method of propulsion is always handwaved unless the plot calls for so hyperdrive = warpdrive.
@Neko3Noskire In regards to the Borg, I'm reading a fan fiction right now where the two face each other. Iw on't give any spoilers (I haven't completed it yet either) but it involves a war between the Borg and the Star Wars uni. Just search Stardestroyer[dot]net and find the fan fiction bit... It's the story called conquest.
@tarkinfish inregards to the borg plotwise they would lose eventually from some devastating plot device. but not before causing serious problems. realistically the borgs basis is assimilation and adaptation and would eventually assimilate everything.
@Neko3Noskire Unless obviously they didn't even get close to any of the important Imperial vessels. The technological prowess of the Galactic Empire would no doubt cause huge problems for the Borg, regardless of their relentlessness and lack of fear (the Borg). A George Lucas quote here: "Each gun in the Star Wars universe is able to destroy all Star Trek ships, this is official." Have a look at Stardestroyer[dot][net] for more of that.
@tarkinfish they dont need to get close they can beam aboard. and they just need one ship to know how to take over or adapt resistance to the rest. what actually stops the borg is really good hacking skills.
@tarkinfish id be smacking you upside your head for stupidity right now. startrek also has shields. beaming aboard is quantum teleportation. the only reason its not used instead of starships is you run the risk of getting stuck in a rock wall if you go somewhere you haven't seen before.
@Neko3Noskire No anger please, try and keep calm here, I'm just putting forward my knowledge here and if it's wrong then you can simply say so. Actually, transports (beaming) don't work through shields even in the Star Trek universe aside from under certain circumstances (like in certain episodes where they technobabbled their way through the shields.) "The only reason it's NOT used instead of starships is"... because of risks involving new places? Sorry, but I don't understand the statement.
@tarkinfish it is known that any scifi or fantasy involving teleportation without a precise trajectory you run the risk of getting into a bad or weird situation usually getting fused with something or someone. for instance the latest startrek movie where kirk and scott try to beam aboard the enterprise while its in warp, scott got beamed into a water pipe.
@Neko3Noskire Well hyperdrive uses the same principle as warp, only it's a lot faster as it's been refined over many years (~20,000). Wow, I had no idea 40k was that far ahead though. Well I remember now, but it had gone from my memory. Seems strange when the warfare is sometimes so primitive and the ships look like they've come straight out of the 19th century. (they look extremely nice though ^_^!) Star Wars is about 10,000 years behind or so, while Star Trek is like... 26k years behind SW xD
@Neko3Noskire Star Wars does take place in an unidentified time frame, although it is common knowledge among SW nerds that the films take place about 30,000 years after space travel becomes an intergalactic (i.e. between systems) thing. And that would mean like roughly 30,000 years after Star Trek's level of development. That's not taking into account that the Star Wars universe may have developed quicker in the first place, so their 30,000 years might be 70,000 years for the Warhammer 40k guys.
@tarkinfish ya know what my favorite part of star wars is? its the part that takes place some time after the trilogy where with all their "advancement" the entire galaxy is getting their asses handed to them by sadomasochists in organic bug ships and even funnier is when the jedi try to do something they discover that the force doesn't work against things from outside the galaxy. and the startrek universe is full of shit like this with varying degrees of advancement right up to ancient "gods".
@Neko3Noskire do you know ships like eclipse or eye of palpatine? Onr eclipse would take on the entire federation on its own without taking any significant damage. NO i am not a startrek hater. I love star trek as much as star wars. But star trek technology just isnt enough to wipe the empire
the star trek universe has an even bigger expanse and requires a drive several times faster than the speed of light and warpdrive is not lightspeed. it is able to reach many galaxies that are very distant and depending on the mission warp can be scaled to the point that you can reach any of those galaxies in less than a day.
@Neko3Noskire Could you send me some info regarding the galaxy to galaxy thing where a ship can travel that distance in less than a day as well please? I don't see anything about that anywhere, but maybe I'm just not looking well enough!
@SparkMan527 Only against other ships of their own galaxy/technology. One ISD (the smaller ships seen here) could level the earth's surface in less than an hour. Equally, an X-Wing with a good pilot could easily wipe out a large fleet of ships from Star Trek for example. Easy Peasy says the Empire.
it only wins because the ships are bigger. heres a battleplan redshirts with vs a force user. the force user wins? nope phasers can have a continuous beam and i dont think the force user can block all of them simultaneously
@Neko3Noskire Btw I'm not one bit interested in an overall summary of which fiction is better in terms of anything BUT ships. Force user, sure, might not win. Although put Yoda into that slot or Darth Sidious and those guys wouldn't even be able to fire their phasers. Organising themselves to a point where they could surround the force user wouldn't be easy either, so that plan may fail.
@Neko3Noskire Oh and as for the ships being bigger, woah. That has nothing to do with shich is better. If one single ship of your Imperium of Man's can subdue a planet's surface to smoldering magma in less than a few hours then it could take on an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Pitch it against an Eclipse, Sovereign, Executor, Allegiance, Praetor, or vengeance-class and I'd like to see its luck last. And that's just the Empire's ships, excluding Rebel, republic, CIS, and independent ships!
@Neko3Noskire Yeah when I used the X-wing I just meant in terms of its power. How about a TIE Defender then, which is slightly better. As for the battle between all of them, if it was a film then the Empire would inevitably lose, perhaps along with the Borg. But if we were talking about a nice, scientifically-based 'high-realism' simulation/battle, the Empire would be one of the strongest factions. The Alliance were tiny in comparison. So is the Federation. Good discussion btw :P
Hyperdrive coud go only at light speed. Han Solo speak about it in Star Wars IV.
Star Wars Weapons are Lasers, Star Trek have Shields who can hold Phases and Photon Torpedos. Anyone who have watched TNG, in many episodes, USS Enterprise D facing oponents with a inferior armament witch is Laser canons or like else.
@Neko3Noskire Warp is slower than Hyperspace. I'd imagine the same applies to 'chaos' as you call it. If that's even a propulsion category you're talking about :P
@tarkinfish i just told you that in the warhammer 40000 k universe warp(chaos) is hyperspace. and comparing all three universes STARWARS is actually the slowest due to it being confined within the galaxy.
@Neko3Noskire Its confinement is nothing really to do with its speed. More to do with other factors like its range and pre-detined routes/navicomputer problems. None of these things make it the slowest. What would take the highest warp weeks would take hyperspace hours. I don't even understand how 'chaos' is a propulsion system though... Is it? Could you explain? Keep in mind that less than 20 seconds in hyperspace can take one more than 4 lightyears, and that is VERY far.
@tarkinfish the warp in 40000k universe is basically punching a hole and entering a parallel universe where space and time acts really weird and you are able to take a shortcut through it. the warp drive in startrek creates a distortion infront of the ship and to the rear enabling the ship to travel several times faster than the speed of light without time distortion. tell me how does the starwars hyperdrive work?
