Bless her but a few of her statements are incorrect.
1. Fiat money is backed by the sum of all labour and commodities, not by nothing.
2. You can't eliminate debt because then you would destroy money itself, since more than 97% of the money supply is debt-based, i.e money is created out of thin air and issued as debt (loans/mortgages/credit).
@BOZ11 , shhhhh, don't let these schiff retards know that. I still need to sqeeze out a few more dollars on my coin collection that they think they are going to barter for bread for.
LOL car bubble how can that happen real estate is part of the market and houses go up and down, cars just go down after wear and tear she seen a few Schiff vids and taught she was marc faber lol cute tho.
-- CCCP was lead by central goverment and their economy was planned in Kremlin .... WHAT happened to them ... 20 years of depression ... 1990's to now ,,, and Russian Federation is still in bad shape ... USA goverment has the same plan for USA.
shes joking rt, the gapping hole in her idea is that, unlike the previous asset bubbles, cars don't go up in value the longer you have them, except the classics. in previous booms the asset prices were rising and individuals felt more wealthy than they were. nobody drives off the lot with a new car thinking that they can flip it for more money in 6 months. dealers maybe able to jack up the prices a little bit but it will not create systemic malinvestment like rising equity values would
Of course its not plausible... you can't drive an asset bubble with depreciating assets and tight credit... the rebate is temporary plus remember it's not $4500 on top of trade in - its trade in or up to $4500, and the owner has to have had the car for 1 year
no she is basically right. Germany which started cash for clunkers before we did is worried that ending the program will result in a recession in 2010 as auto demand falls. Cash for Clunkers doesnt create new demand, it just moves demand from the future to today.
Sure you'll get a pop in sales and taking the program away will be tough for the govt, but what kind of bubble are you talking about? She seems to be suggesting the bubble will have people pulling equity out of their cars... that's just stupid.
No buddy has mentioned this that I know of but this is a big rip off of our money for the insurance company's. If you buy a new car you have to have full coverage. That is a huge dept burden on the buyer. The insurance company's are part of this scam.
Ive been conditioned to all kinds of food poisons up through my childhood. I got a mild form of ADHD. How does one expect people like me to keep focused on what is being said when the camera starts pointing in all kinds od directions. Also i wonder what the interviewed must have been thinking.
Well, the unintended consequences of this whole thing is the crash in the value of used cars. Who is going to absorb the $1,000,000,000 progam? Anyone with a vehicle. The American people get screwed once again. The value of your vehicle asset just crashed. Don't believe me? try selling it now that Ford is offering a $4500 discount on top of the governments $4500 deal.
now that she has lost her job, she's found a new sound money religion. she's just like anyone else. she will support ANY system that supports her. The key requirement of any government that wants to remain in control is, they must keep the good will of a majority of workers, managers, and political leaders. Discontent that leads to rebellion (or) revolution happens when a larger minority of "the Folks" loose thier place of advantage. That is what is happening now. maybe, tj
Great Video! The government wants you get rid of your old car with a rebate check. Where will the credit come from to buy these new cars? (Bailed out Banks?) We would go further into debt and if you can't pay your loan, then they will take your car away! You will then wish for that old clunker back again! By the way, Volkswagen TDI's get 50 Miles to the gallon (No Batteries) and can be converted to bio diesel. The V W Rabbit was one of these cars in the 80's.
Why were you panning around when the woman was talk to you - did you get bored :D??? Im not sure how I would have thought if you were interviewing me and your camera was on the surroundings :D
I love this woman! :) GREAT interview, Dave! She gave solid, sound information and advice - the FSP is empowered by having a woman of her intelligence and compassion as a part of it - five stars and favorited!
I am so happy that we don't qualify for the cash for clunkers. Cause my husband would be after me to support him getting a new vehicle. I have tried to explain to him that paying 400 a month is stupid when you can own your vehicle out right an only have to pay for liability ins. The monthly payment and extra costs add up to a whole lot of gas purchasing power vs only a moderate gain in fuel efficiency.
lol. i was thinking the same thing. Hes probably already talked to her about it already and she was just recording some thoughts on the topic, but it makes it harder to concentrate on what the person is saying when the camera moves around like that.
The government program known as 'Cash for Clunkers' started today. Many dealerships were calling about this today. A person can get $3500 to $4500 Tax Credit for trading in their old not so fuel efficient vehicle for a more fuel efficient vehicle. I don't tell them that they would be better off owning a vehicle outright than financing a vehicle for 3 to 5 years because we don't know where we will be in 2 years. The currency could collapse by then & you won't own your car outright.
to stratvic : a true collapse would be a much bigger problem than anyone really knows. There are so few moral people left in this generation that society along with the dollar would be worthless. Do not think somehow anyone would survive uninjured, even the very, very rich, and the poor would starve, or kill each other off. Think more along the lines of the French Revolution that was rage without religous restraint. Our society requires a religious and moral population to remain viable. tj
I don't think we rely on religion to be moral and would be better off without it. I agree that the lack of a functioning currency would be extremely disruptive to market cooperation. But don't confuse the value of money with the value of things. Things will still exist as they do now, how we value them for purposes of exchange will change.
stravic: Our founding fathers said our form of government requires us to be a moral & religious people to be a workable democratic republic and a free people. Our society is breaking down and when the money glue that holds us together is gone it will be everyone for themselves. Without the "do unto others" or "love your neighbor" or "be your brother's keeper" attitudes that existed in the 1930's to help rebuild after the last Great Depression, it will look like Mad Max @ Thunderdome. tj
So you do not believe the Founders advocated the separation of Church and State?
Natural human action will see use through this disaster as it has since we evolved in spite of government. Hobbes was a fool, we are a social beasts and cooperate to maximise our chances of survival and standard of living.
stratvic: Jefferson a founding father wrote "..a wall of separation of church and state" in a letter to the Dansbry Baptist organization in order to assure that church that the newly forming FEDERAL government would not IMPOSE a single or dominate state religion upon them. That means that government is not to impose force against ones religion. Most of our founding fathers were profoundly religious. Society without God, results in "dis-order". For the heart of man is naturally selfish & evil.
It saddens me to hear that your experience of your fellow man is purely selfish and evil. I am pleased to report that that is not my experience.
I think you will find that the founders were also profoundly suspicious and fearful of religion. Justifiably based on history.
Are you saying that any god or religion would comply with your society with god? Their have been thousands of gods invented by humans, are they all better than none in your opinion?
stratvic: no need to be saddened by your fabrication of my experiance with my fellow man being PURELY selfish & EVIL. i said "naturally" not "purely" . Part of what is naturally evil in the heart of man would be his attempt to deny that there is a God or that any god will do as well. There are false gods & false religions. The existence of the fraud is not proof against the true God & true religion existence. Society is worse off with more of the fraud and less of the true & suffers for it. tj
I agree "society is worse off with more of the fraud and less of the true & suffers for it".
If you agree that "There are false gods & false religions." (frauds) and that there are literally thousands of gods to choose from how do you know that yours is the "true God"? The thousands of gods that you discount were thought to be true gods by those who maintained belief in them. What proof do you have that makes your belief the 1/1000+ exception against the 999+ to 1 odds that a god is false?
stratvic: you are not far from knowing the truth that will set you free from the fear of sin and death. Simply read, with an open mind to the possibility that you may discover the answer to your question, the small book, the gospel of John in the Holy Bible. Read The Word and The Word will not come back void. The short answer is the same as knowing if you are alive or not. Some say it's all a dream, but how do you know that you actually are alive? You just know when you know. Same answer. tj
If I interpret your answer correctly you are saying faith ....based on a book written by people hundreds of years after the events it proclaims to represent and rewritten and translated that is full of contradictions and questionable ethics.
Faith will not cut it when that is what got the 999+ other religions believing in their false gods subjecting them to fraud.
Their is evidence I am alive their is no evidence your got is.
stratvic: there you go again, ascribing something to me that i did not say. Said nothing about Faith. Besides, your faith has little to nothing to do with it. However, if you choose not to read one small book, that amounts to only about 2 hours of time, perhaps you are not seeking the answer nor the truth you claim to seek. It is appointed to a man once to die, and then the judgment. i'll not judge you, but the truth is that God is more alive then you are. Read The Book & then you'll know. tj
Read it. Not convinced...sorry. I am looking for evidence not stories. If there is evidence there that I missed perhaps you could reference it. Otherwise by your own standard those stories supporting the 999+ religions you discount will also have to be considered as evidence.
Cash for Clunkers is crap. Not many people can take advantage of it. Your car has to average 18mpg. If you bought it in the last 10 years probably paid the 'Gas Guzzler Tax'.
