As far as Arctic Monkeys vs. The Strokes, I find it hard to quantify by comparing individual members of the group. I think it's about how they work together as a whole. Maybe one drummer has more technical skill than another, but that doesn't matter so much. For example, Meg White's not the greatest drummer, but that quality was part of what made The White Stripes. I love both TS and AM, but there's just something about The Strokes that I relate to more. Totally a sentimental thing, I guess.

Yes, Is This It / Room On Fire was/were perfection, not a dull track on either, BUT the live shows are SO MUCH BETTER with material from Angles and First Impressions. The concerts they used to throw were awesome, but all the songs would just kinda meld together, the new material provides some great pallet cleansers and unexpected changes.

im a shamed to say that i've only started listening to The Strokes. Arctic Monkeys led me here. They covered the song take it or leave it and pretty much the rest is history. Their music is pretty much influenced by the Strokes so too compare 2 great bands is just impossible. I love them both equally :)

@skymypie well it's the strokes' version that's better. but i think arctic monkeys are a better band all around definitely. though nikolai is a killer bassist, fab isn't really that great a drummer, especially compared to AM's, matt helders. actually, come to think of it, both the strokes' guitarists are better than both arctic monkeys'. but i don't think the strokes have made as much good music as arctic monkeys.

@redhockeycab gotta agree. I love both bands, but Matt is not only a better drummer than Fab, but he's one of the better drummers out there right now, period. Alex is a good guitarist, but he's not as good as Albert or Nick. Nikolai is a great bassist. It's hard to really say which band is better, they're both amazing in different aspects. Both have four albums, but Angles, IMO, really brings The Strokes down a notch. Their first three were amazing, but I'm not a fan of Angles.
