There are a couple of editing mistakes..but one of the most noticable was the fact the chair Krystle threw out the window is not shown as the scene ends.
I think it would have been interesting if Dallas and Dynasty could have merged for a series or two. So you would see Blake in the Ewing building with JR and Jeremy Wendell having lunch with Alexis. Bobby would stay at La Mirage for a night and Miss Ellie and Krystle would have coffee in the Carrington mansion.
This was "hot"!!! No pun intended! I remember this scene like it was yesterday, and it was so chilling! You really didn't know what was going to happen. Now THIS is a cliffhanger!!
@dereka79 I liked this cliffhanger better than the ones in '84 & certainly '85. It was funny that both Dynasty & Dallas (still much higher in the ratings) both ended their 1982-83 seasons with fiery cliffhangers. Krystal & Alexis are locked in a burning cabin while in Dallas, JR, Ray, Sue Ellen & John Ross are trapped in a "Ewing Inferno" at Southfork. Dynasty could at least have had Alexis' & Krystal's clothes burned off & had them running out in smoking bras & undies in tatters. That's hot!
It is so sad and a big scandal that this was the last episode Swedish Television, SVT, showed of Dynasty in the Eighties, the Monopolic State Televison's channel cheif didn't like the serie and wanted the viewers to see his favourite serie Dallas instead. Not until the beginning of the Nineties when Sweden allowed commercial tv-stations to send in the air, TV4 finally showed all the episodes of Dynasty and the Dynasty fans could see the conclusion of the burning cabin cliff-hanger.
Nope--Mark Jennings--Alexis mentions him about 2 minutes into the scene.
Actually, at this point, Krystle is still married to Mark--she "married" Blake thinking that her divorce from Mark was finalized, but it wasn't. Alexis found out and brought Mark to Denver to make Krystle's life difficult.
@CHRISAALIYAH get over it. Sorry..well not really..but I stand by what I said. A wiggling fat butt does not make a wannabe into Alexis. You look just plain silly doing it.
@CHRISAALIYAH a couple of things queenie. I'm not in the least bit worried about you. I read something stupid you wrote and said something about it. That's as far as my feelings about you go except that you're proving yourself to be more stupid every time you write.
@CHRISAALIYAH trust me little boy I'm not the least bit worried about you. You wrote something, I answered it then you flew into a hissy fit. If you're going to be so sensitive don't post on public sites. By the way, saying someone is old isn't an insult. From what I can make of you, you're not going to last all that long anyway.
Now this is a great cliffhanger - see how much better simplicity is, rather than OTT effects and unbelievable shock storylines such as Moldavia. Simple yet very effective.
Notice also how there is no smoke and neither one is coughing despite the building burning around them.
I LOVE the scream at the end - now that's a dramatic touch.
A producer somewhere right now is dreaming up a show in the same style as this and it'll be great - what goes around comes around - he'll be a rich man!
i just started watching this with my mom about a year ago. i'm 14 and me and my sister love love love DYNASTY. alexis and krystal were awesome as emimes.
Living in Germany Dynasty, Knots Landing, etc., were all 6 mos. to 1 yr. behind the U.S. The same with the daytime soaps. I never could stand Krystal. Al though Alexis and Abby (Knots Landing) were nasty they both loved their children.
I was very young when this show started, so I only watched the last couple of seasons. I always rushed home wednesday afternoon after school, to watch Dynasty with my mother.
It really got over the top near the end, but that of course made it hilarious.
I think we were about the same age. My mother and I would watch Dynasty, Knots Landing, etc., and then have a discussion on the right and wrong acts. Soaps are not like these anymore.
This was my favorite cliffhangers! We had to wait all summer long to not only find out who did it but also which dynasty diva would survive that fiery cabin! When Krystal looks up at the cabin's roof all ablaze it scarred me like crazy as a kid. I kept thinking: Now how in the hell are they going to survive this one? LOL! Great stuff!
OMG!!i remember this when i was a teenager. this cliffhanger was such a big deal that linda evans and joan collins were on good moring america the day the cliffhanger aired. i had just learned during that time that there were cliffhangers for nighttime soaps
This was not the best cliffhanger though, it was pretty predictable. Krystal's ex-husband (I think his name was Mark) save her & Alexis from the fire.
This was one of my fave cliffhangers. I love the scene and the dialog. Alexis: "This is all your fault, every time you come into my life something terrible happens to me." I was really surprised when it turned out that the BUTLER did it. LOL.
Alexis was pure evil, plain and simple. But that's why people loved her and loved to hate her. Anyway, I'd like to know who started the fire and why. Did he/she know that both Krystle and Alexis would be at the cabin at the same time? And if so, why would that person want to kill them?
Joseph -- Blake's butler, friend, and Kirby's father -- was the one who started the fire. I don't think he knew that Krystle was in the cabin which is part of the reason why he later killed himself. He tried to kill Alexis to keep the truth about Kirby's mother silent... :)
Hi, mrmagassi. Actually, Joseph Anders was the Carrington majordomo, as he was quick to correct. Gerald was the butler. HA HA! Joseph probably secretly hated Krystle!! He probably was thinking, GOOD! I'll kill two for the price of one!
Hey, Stephsoap. Would you post the ending to this vid? I want to see how they escape, especially because almost every square inch of the cabin was engulfed in flames. I'm amazed it didn't collapse on them.
i sell/trade tons of soap opera stuff and if anyone would like to see my list please email.also if there are others out there that sell/trade soap stuff please email
"This is all your fault every time you come into my life something terrible happens to me."
Krystle and Alexis were wonderful rivals and they were evenly matched. I remember this. It was a great cliffhanger. I could not wait until fall to find out what happened.
They both die! lol... No, they are rescued by Mark Jennings (Krystle's ex-husband). This also marks Joan's/Alexis' short-hair wigs/looks as they used the fire as a good excuse to give her short hair... (it was burned off)...
Caviar is the processed, salted roe of certain species of fish, most notably the sturgeon. It is commercially marketed worldwide as a delicacy and is eaten as a garnish or a spread; for example, with hors d'œuvres.
Alexis really ate caviar with GUSTO, didn't she? However, Dominique Deveraux (Diahann Carroll)REALLY knows her caviar! When they first meet, Dominique drank some of Alexis's champagne and complained about it (It was burnt). Alexis suggest the caviar. Dominique's response? "I wouldn't know. You see that is Ostatrova and I prefer Petrussian Beluga." Crazy, man!
mrmagassi, How did Mark save them? The door was locked from the outside and the fire surrounded the entire exterior of the cabin. Was there another way in?
In the season premiere they showed him using something to break the door down. I don't think it was an axe. They never really showed the audience, but you could see the door breaking apart because he was using something to force his way in.
both women are elctrifying in their own way..Alexis the smart independent buisiness woman and high class bitch!,and Crystal the sweet but strong in character matriach of the Carrington Dynasty who puts people before money...i love them both..they are both remarkable women.
@nick4alex That's what made them such a great pair! :D In a way, they both have more in common than they care to admit, but they also have lots of differences so that they're able to butt heads so drastically. You can't really have one without the other. :)
It was Joseph who set the cabin ablaze (he wasn't aware Krystle was in there i suppose)... i think he was trying to silence her for something related to his daughter Kirby...
Alexis was such a punk - LOL! Krystle's over there fighting the fire and she's standing back doing what she does best; namely, waiting for the servants to come do it for her - LOL!
Alexis was a lady, unlike Crystal and truly a Carrington and deserving of the name and fortune!!!!!!! A woman like like was born tp have servants and be treated like a lady ,unlike Crystal who was what a shop girl before she married Blake!!!!!!!!!! At least Alexis had the class to attract wealthy and handsome men-what about Crystal-the chauffeur was even to good to drive Crystal around.
Please! Alexis would suck a dog's dick if it had a dollar bill wrapped around it! The only work she ever did involved her being either on her back or her hands & knees. I used to love her scenes at Colbyco acting like she was a businesswoman with her pushup bra and 5-inch "fuck me pumps". They should have had some of the old rich dudes at the Country Club in the steam room bragging about how they all had her - LOL!
Please those men in the country could only dream of having someone like Alexis as their partner, they likely wouldn't even know what a good woman was ,someone like Alexis who knows what she wants and goes after it and gets to live the lifestyle she deserved to have.Crystal can't even carry the Carrington name with dignity and pride-little shop girl nobody that she was and always will be. Alexis is truly a lady ,classy, dignified, and regal!!!!!!
I don't have a video of the scene but the solution was the proverbal solution in mysteries: "the butler did it (or tried to do it)"! Actually, it was Joseph the majordomo who set the fire to destroy Alexis in order to prevent her from spilling the beans to Kirby about her mother. When it seemed that the police were onto him as the arsonist and attempted murderer, Joseph committed suicide.
halle berry might have been great in this show..however..diahann carrol demanded the role..and I think halle berry was about five years old when this was on
Take the check, then kick her ass. Integrity? That's MY word! The sisterhood of beautiful ex-wives?
