Now a days it has evolved into a sound that includes bands like Dillinger Escape Plane, Every Time I Die, and old Between the Buried and Me. I enjoy all of those bands, and hardcore in general. What is obnoxious is when kids try to be "hardcore" and have no idea what it really is.
