  • in 1991 this song inspired me to make a gigantic move and that was to move to California from Florida at the age of 20. I'm still here in California and so grateful that I made that step. It was super scary at the time. I knew one person out here then. It changed my life forever.

  • what a great band... and such a TURE woman's voice...

  • concrete blonde is a trip down a memory lane that i miss.

  • This is my all time favorite song.

I only listen to it once and awhile...I don't know if anybody understands. This song speaks to me sooo pointently that a dose of this song once a week is more than enough. :)))

  • ke recuerdos...thanks concrete blonde

  • great band - opened up for them in a band i was in "rockin; bones" on a few dates on this tour - they were super cool - great song

  • 3 people will never understand good rock,

  • Great song for True Blue Indigo!

  • This song keeps me in the mood...

  • A song for my life.

  • she reminds me of Siouxsie with this short hair.

  • These guys will be my lifelong faves...

  • @malkeh2008 Absolutely brother! I was so fortunate to see them play live in my home town in Australia back in the early 90's and they have been my absolute favorite band ever since.

  • omg i thought this song would be sick like the stand up and be counted but then it was so..... supermarket.

  • This woman and I are going ALL The WaY

    !

  • this is a real "good-feeling" music!!!!!!

  • Hey, that opening shot is the corner of Tipton Road and Highway 111, where the old Palm Springs train station once existed!!! The foundation is still there. And last I heard, Johnette is just over the hills to the north in Joshua Tree!

  • @steelearch Awesome that you caught that - I used to drive by that spot all the time wondering what was buried under the sand....

  • damn nice to listen to a song that sounds just as great today as it did 25 years ago. how many artists out there can put such timeless music?

  • Propagandhi did work on this song.

  • propagandhi

  • my fav one...this song is truth....and this chick had me ready to wear fishnets in 90s...lol

  • If I had enough I'll take a pick up truck and drive away.

I'll take the last 10 bucks just as far at it will go...

    Great lyrics, great band.

One of the best debut albums ever made.

  • If I had the choice I'd take the voice I've got, because it was hard to find....

  • stay true

  • Concrete Blonde. One of the best L.A. based rock bands.

  • great pick ups loved you guys

  • this group always got me right in da gut! cb was an amazing group!

  • great music grat lyrics great band

  • True, how true, being true to that the thing you do best! CB Forever!

  • I remember the first time I heard this song...1986 I believe...never stopped

  • Guys! I totally agree! A time of Real music and Real videos. Her voice blows me away!

  • fell in love with Johnette and James Mankey 21 years ago (ugh!) to this song back in the day when MTV played MUSIC. Still a uber fan. the music holds up...

  • this makes me miss the good music that meant something

now we are stuck with talentless popstars like taylor and carrie blecchh

  • @goochieguy you really think Taylor and Carrie are talentless? thats waving the wand real broadly....

there are lots of others on the radio and tv that have close to zilch, but these girls are not them :)

  • @goochieguy So you don't remember Tiffany, Debbie Gibson, Milli Vanilli, Men Without Hats, A-ha, New Kids or Michael Damian. I can go on and on, and there's always tons o' dreck for every decade. There's also plenty of good and great music, but you won't hear it on the radio anymore. That basically ended in the 80's too.

  • This song became a favorite of mine when Jack McCoy used it in a classic Billabong surf movie showing a FEW guys ripping a secluded, glassy left break. Since then, this is required listening when I go off on surfing or snowboarding trips...

  • El mejor guitarrista y la mejor vocalista que casi nadie ha escuchado,¿cuando dejó el talento de importarle al ser humano?

  • Have all the albums and this song is still my anthem. Love Johnette!

  • same here!!! :-)

  • can someone put up Beware of Darkness from the same release? Thx

  • I love the cover of beware of darkness that they do. It's beautiful.

  • the 1st time i heard these guys my bro played HAPPY BIRTHDAY for me on my 9th bday and i was stuck on them and still am.

  • indeed!

  • yea thats a great song the lyrics are classic!a great record as well. cl

  • i did a short tour with them in the mid 80s working with a band call Easter.

we all had a blast on the road.

  • I too love that first album. Not a bad cut on it. Johnette's voice is so powerful. Full of depth and clarity. Her inflection is virtually perfect. Very few females singers can touch her range and delivery. Watching this video is a bit sad as the time has pushed us all up a tread more towards the end. Takes me back to simpler times. Back when Calif was fun and exciting. Those were good times and CB was there to share them.

  • By far my favorite CB song ever (insert lighter held aloft here).

  • This song rocks!:)

  • last 10 bucks; just as far as it will go. i remember listening to this lyric on a balcony in a b-more apt on a summer night in what was it, the 80s, of all places. the disk i got had an instrumental version of this as well. i didn't think i liked instrumental version's till i heard this song. i played this album for my friends and co-workers and although they 'liked' it, they never really 'got' it.

  • It takes a real deep and understanding person to listen to CB; good story!!!!!!

  • i first heard Concrete Blonde in a sci- fi movie, I think it was "the Hidden". The next day I wnt out, bought the tape. Pretty much wore it out. My point is I love Concrete Blonde and I am as shallow and superfiscial as they get.

  • Heard this song when it came out in the UK (1987 I think) on the recommendation of Maria McKee. Great lyric set to a nice tune. 80's production cant spoil it.

  • she is an awesome force ....I have been a fan so long I still have all her stuff on cassette !

  • mhmm, i am in love with her. especially her hair. *envious*. i still find it surprising to hear such a big voice from her....like Pat Benatar.

  • Propaghandi covers this song

  • At a f-ing great cover it is...

  • Wow...so awesome to find this tune

  • Heard a few Concrete Blonde songs in the soundtrack of the sci-fi movie The Hidden. One stuck in my head, "Your Haunted Head". Had to buy the CD, their first. CD's just hit in '86, and it was one of my first. Love "True", the video is great! "Beware of Darkness" on their first album was written by George Harrison. I think the drummer and Jhonette Napolitano had a thing going then. She has such a sexy low voice. Saw the band live in the early 90's at Milwaukee Summerfest. Thanks for posting!

  • concrete blonde & jhonette napolitano was so much better

  • Have a listen to Siouxsie Sioux, Tanita Tikaram, 4NonBlondes.

  • This was the first Concrete Blonde song I heard but didn't know it was by them until I bought Bloodletting in high-school and got into 'em. I couldn't go to any of their concerts though cos they were all in pubs in Sydney and I was underage. I tried to see em in store though. I was disturbingly obsessed for a time :-(

  • missing the one gone on

  • i bought this 1st album on tape for 49p at a charity shop on off chance having never heard of them but i think it rather good

  • this is the 1st video & song i ever heard CB. the flipside with rachel donuhue on chnl. 56 (oc & l.a) use to play CB back in 87 all the time

  • love this song couldn't find it b4, this girl is soo cool i looked up to her. She's a hot woman.

  • This song makes me miss some many things. It makes me ache for the past and my people who were in it. Johnette is the best.

  • me too.

  • me too

  • me too. some may people, some moche ackeeng
