  • how long has tshala been around? same as mbilia bel?

  • I think pretty the same time. Tshala used to be a dancer. If I trust my memory I think in 70s she did music with King Rachid too.

  • So what?

  • lee2575 What do you think? deriveonline asked a question and I gave out the little information I know about Tshala Muana.

  • OOPS! I thought you were trashing my favourite African female musician.

  • They are almost the same age. Tshala was born in 1958 and Mbilia Bell in 1959. Mbilia Bel started to sing as a 17 year old in 1976 when she stepped in as back up for Abeti Masikini and later for Sam Mangwana.

  • Tshala Muana went to Kinshasa in 1976. She liked the voice and the music of the late MPONGO LOVE,hence in 1977 she joined the group TCHEKE TCHEKE LOVE, as a dancer. The same year she did her first song but it did not make a mark. It is in the early eighties that Tshala became a houshold name in Congolese Music. It is also the same time that Mbilia Bel made a mark in the music world.

  • thanks very much for the info!

    Peace & Luv
