  • nice

  • I still have this game today...A hard game, but its a classic game

  • @SuperMiramis me too, never made it out of the second level

  • 味気無いが、無駄も無い・・・

  • Pretty nice!

  • スクウェアのテグザー。

    持ってました。

    なつかしいなぁ。

  • This version was crappy in comparison to the Amiga and PC versions. But, at the time this was a much more affordable option.

  • superhuman reaction times

  • the first game of square soft

  • WTF? This does have an ending, the game has 8 levels, like in any other versions.

Or is the NES version THAT botched up? All other versions of Thexder has 8 levels.

The lacking of homing missiles in level 4 also makes this a LOT easier. Nes version fails

Square only worked on the NES version. Most other versions are made by Game Arts , and some ocidental versions (PC, Amiga) are from Sierra.

  • The missing levels are probably due to the rom size contraint, the NES game is only 40kb. Frankly, I'm surprised that they could even fit the game as it is on such a small rom size.

  • I remember this game, I never got pass level 4 :(

  • 2:42 TRANSFORMERS!! More than meets the eye! =D

  • my eyes feel weird watching this, looks badass though!

  • What company made this game? (I'm guessing Vic Tokai)

  • No. This game has been made by Game Arts and Square Soft

  • ah, thanks. My guesses are always wrong, heh

  • hehe... no problem...

  • I loved playing this game!

Damn hard, but intriguing enough and a nice challenge; hours of fun...and frustration :)

The "end" is pretty typical for NES, though.. it's about the score, obviously :)

  • TASすぐるw

  • In fact, there's an ending:

    Use the following PAR Code:

    Start on level 99,

    0074:63

    Then finish the first level.

You will see a mosaic of dolls, like the Macross Lynn Minmei dolls.

    That's all.

  • Reminds me of metroid

  • Wow that is an interesting idea. A hybrid maze vertical shoot 'em up game.

  • Wow! your good. This game is really hard. I never got past level 3.

  • god i still have the original CD =))))))))))))))))) i used to play this game when i was 9 with my big brother =))))

  • IT MAKES ME DIZZY...

  • Game's way harder and better looking on the PC.

AFAIR it's infinite. I made it to level 9 (caves was it?) and got too bored to keep pushing after that.

Love this old classic. They just don't make these kind of cool games any more.

  • Oldschool, thank you for posting. I wasback in the day too born 1984

  • how old this game is

    please tell me

  • i think its from 1984

  • strange, the player here seems to have nearly inhumae reaction times. unbelievable

  • TAS

  • what means tas?

  • Tool Assisted Speedrun.

  • could it be that this game is unsolvable? I mean, cant image how anyone could have played it to the end

  • Thanks for posting this. I loved this game. I played it on the MSX.

  • I played it on the PC, but never got further than level 2. Did not know if you could save games or not.

  • OMG someone has a video of this game!!! I used to play this game for hours when I was a kid. Thanks for posting the video and sharing video game history!!!!! Thexder forthe WIN!!!

  • you can never complete thexder... it goes on forever.

in the amiga version the extra levels look like chocolate. ;-D

  • Music is very...memorizing.

  • there's no ending!!!i killed myself...when i completed this game on pc 10 hours of fucking diarea shit

  • LOL

  • my dad once played this for 26 hours straight... later i heard that he was on acid at the time...

    ...that must have been trippy

  • love thexder PC version was a bit better i never could beat this game i took a dump on level 6 and got pissed

  • Had the PC version which I could never beat back in the early 90's. Only got to level four.

  • Nice post. I remember playing this on my Amiga in the 80's...

  • Awesome video! 5/5.

  • Man, I love Thexder. 5 stars.

  • I like how hisatoki does TAS's for rare, obscure games, many of which I've never heard of and probably never made it to North America.

  • I agree. :)
