The missing levels are probably due to the rom size contraint, the NES game is only 40kb. Frankly, I'm surprised that they could even fit the game as it is on such a small rom size.
ahá, es dificil. Me acuerdo que lo jugué en un cartucho que traía 64 juegos en 1, ahí fue que conocí éste juego, por suerte gracias a la emulación pude revivirlo.
OMG someone has a video of this game!!! I used to play this game for hours when I was a kid. Thanks for posting the video and sharing video game history!!!!! Thexder forthe WIN!!!

This version was crappy in comparison to the Amiga and PC versions. But, at the time this was a much more affordable option.

WTF? This does have an ending, the game has 8 levels, like in any other versions.
Or is the NES version THAT botched up? All other versions of Thexder has 8 levels.
The lacking of homing missiles in level 4 also makes this a LOT easier. Nes version fails
Square only worked on the NES version. Most other versions are made by Game Arts , and some ocidental versions (PC, Amiga) are from Sierra.

I loved playing this game!
Damn hard, but intriguing enough and a nice challenge; hours of fun...and frustration :)
The "end" is pretty typical for NES, though.. it's about the score, obviously :)

In fact, there's an ending:
Use the following PAR Code:
Start on level 99,
0074:63
Then finish the first level.
You will see a mosaic of dolls, like the Macross Lynn Minmei dolls.
That's all.

Game's way harder and better looking on the PC.
AFAIR it's infinite. I made it to level 9 (caves was it?) and got too bored to keep pushing after that.
Love this old classic. They just don't make these kind of cool games any more.

I like how hisatoki does TAS's for rare, obscure games, many of which I've never heard of and probably never made it to North America.
