It is a great suggestion. The next generation touchless trash can will be launched in March. You should be able to see a model that has battery compartment outside the trash can.
The batteries do need to be changed often. And the batteries are under the lid. So, instead of touching the top of a clean lid with your hands or stepping on a pedal with your feet you (the owner of a "touchless" trash bin) have to go into the trash to change the batteries. And, that's never clean. Especially, if its used in the kitchen where there's an abundance of organic wastes.
Batteries should be on top and out of the trash. Or, at least it should use a retractable power cord.
4 D-size battery can be used for up to a year. It will save your effort and keep your trash can clean. Once you use one, you will never use hand or your foot type trash cans like many of other satisfied customers. Just like you prefer to use a TV remote now instead of pushing the buttons on the TV.
i know the patent holder to this product very well, and if you want to sell this in the states with out infringing then email me and i can get the ball rolling.
