watched this movie last night and OMG!!!! I loved it. I have to say I loved the first half a bit more than the last half. To see the hardships the little ones had to go through was heart wrenching,BUT the kids were reselient during adversity!

I have to say, the core of the story has been done to death in India before in all the different language movie industries there are in India. The only difference was the quality of cinamatography, the way things have been put together in this movie.

Danny Boyle captured India in a way I never seen in a American film maker version of a part od Indian life. It was a fun movie and it amde me happy to see it. it was the only Indian America movie I ever could stand it was real. A very nice movie.. must be watched on a big screen, but what make me feel unhappy is that this movie is abt India, indian actors in the movie n it got also some Indian songs in it.. it won the Golden Globe awards coz a british director did the movie. Bollywood did hundreds of good movies with hundreds of good songs of A.R. Rahman and others bt so far, no movie won any GG or oscar. Lagaan was nominated for oscar in 2002 which was really good and deserving but it didn't win!

Spot on brother. This movie is a lot hyped up. AR Rahman has done tons of scores much better than this.

What makes you feel real good at the end of the movie is that it starts with the slum and you see the dirtiest lifes a human can live. From there the hope is indoctrinated into the viewer mind set. This formula was over used in movies but the bombay slums took the lows to a new level. Much like the Brazilian movie 'Streets of God' or something like that. Hyped up !

On a different note i thought this movie was amazing. I'm usually more into the comedies, but i absolutely loved this one. The story line was new yet classic, and the editing was fantastic. I definately recomend that, if you haven't yet, go see it.

It's somewhat ironic you mention Titanic. What makes movies like Titanic, or Slumdog appealing is the universal stories they tell the audiences. How could this movie not appeal to different foreign audiences when it expresses something we feel for? It's not just a love story but demonstrates triumph over adversity and poverty through music, direction and amazing performances. The key for any great movie is making the audience feel as if the journey becomes worth it. Personally, I believe it is.
