Yes, quite a few schools in Sydney play this beat. Your school, Yun Yee Tong (Chow Gar) plays it. The other groups that play this beat in Sydney are the Teo Chew Association's 5 Ancestors school and also the White Eyebrow (Pak Mei) school descended from Vietnam.

I think that this beat is quite unique even among the traditional (non Hok San) beats. It is different from the more standard Fut San beats from HK. I have only heard it among schools descended from Vietnam play it.
