To run one of these early bikes OR AUTOMOBILES? one must not only opperate the belt or clutch, but at the same time? Must simultaniously Manipulate the Igniition advance and throughtle. This is why many of the Indian Motorcycle race drivers , placed the ignition clutch and throughtle all on one side of the handle bars.
@FireDropTechnologies Why don't you go get ona and show us how it's done. And thats not a cheap shot I would just like to see the propper way if you know how , thanks go point.
This alowed the opperator, to use their palm in a rolling action for the throughtle, thier first two fingers for the ignition leaver, or dial, and their last to fingers for the clutch leaver. The thumb remaining stationary to hold the handle in place and acting as a pivot. Remember to start to advance the ignition 12-14 % then to rev the engine and pull away? one must Bring the ignition lever back to 9-7% and rev the engine abouve 700 rpm. THEN Let out the clutch or pull the belt lever!
