  • Rudess is known for being a genius behind the keyboard but the best thing he has ever did (after joining DT) was cutting his hair!! His awesome skills reached galactic proportions after that!!!

  • Comment removed

  • can you imagine how long it would take to create a click track to one of their albums?

  • What is program metronome that they use ?

  • @rutchanon2 it's a click track. they have to use it to keep perfect time

  • Six Inches Of Inner Turbulence

  • John Petrucci is responsible for most of the DT killer harmonies and arrangements :D

  • Johns face at 3:20ish is he "Hey baybuh" face

    never fails

  • 3:37 are those various cakes next to john?

  • I wish I could play the tambourine like mike.

  • John's epic face at 3:21

  • something very unfamiliar about the hair cuts in this video, i guess jordan had to give it back to mike and john eventually

  • this shit sounds great. they should've stuck with it instead of changing it to what's on the album.

  • If only this album was just one disc.

  • "Meanwhile in the basketball court with Labrie......"

  • @TheHornet79 LMAO, he gets some slagging for that!!!!

  • Look at Petrucci's face at 2:19!

  • horrible drums to an acoustic song

  • @aakkoin MAN !!!! IT´S THE MICROPHONE OF A CAMERA! IT´S DOES NOT CAPTURE ALL FRECUENCIES!!!!

  • I'm the 90.000th !!

  • petrucci improvising in about to crash, i want to be that amazing.....

  • @54MProductions

    Practice.

  • @Niekpas1 I'm on it! *Pulls out lame pentatonic lick*

  • that is so fucking awesome how they play octavarium in this... they already knew it 2 albums earlier so awesome.

  • Definitely my favorite album ever.

  • OMG 3:16 - 3:26 OCTAVARIUM keyboard solo, they have the idea of parts years before they record them :O

  • @evaleet Yeah that reminds me, I read in an interview somewher that Portnoy and Myung came up with the genreal idea for either this or The Glass Prison (can't remember which, sorry :p) way back in the Majesty days ie. when Dream Theater was created, and were only able to use it on Octavarium/6DOIT (whichever song it was...) :)

  • @Arachnidius It must be this. Glass Prison was all Portnoy and him only.

  • @evaleet That's not Octavarium. That is the verse chord progression to SDOIT..."she was raised in a small midwestern town...."

  • The songs sound completely different as instrumentals.

  • at 3:50 it looks like the third fret is without strings xD beautiful moments to see anyway

  • they inspired each other by their own music and talent :)

  • First 40 seconds or so I love the cuts to what is essentially "GET THAT TAMBO TRACK IN THERE!"

  • Straight up, I fucking love these guys!

  • LOL petrucci at 2:18 XDD

  • yes :D:D:D

  • Goodnight Kiss makes me smile. :)

  • 2002 DT was my favourite.

sdoit is an amazing album from start to finish; it's got heavy DT without being flat out mainstream cough cough a rite of passage cough

    also JP's hair is epic

  • yeah that was dumb to say.

i stand by my six degrees praise though.

  • I have to say this album is underrated. It doesn't receive nearly as much attention as it should.

  • I agree! It's probably their most underrated work, and all too often gets put in the shadows of Metropolis Pt.2

  • exactly...in my opinion this is the best album and the title track is the craziest thing i have seen in the history of music, sereously...I can say i love every second of it, its so complex, so engineered. SDOIT is perfect, way better than metropolis.

  • True that man... Scenes is a masterpiece, but I love how experimental this album is. Dissapear is a ballad, the Glass Prison very heavy, The Great Debate is kind of... I dunno. And there's the title track of course.

  • their best song is not in this album, but this album is definitely their best, overall.

  • where was john myung!??!

  • 2:20 - 2:21

  • at 2:17!

  • You mean that guy who always follows the band around?

  • ehh? i'm angry cos jm appears just once :S

  • Mmmm, DT insidish joke

  • LOL @ the price tag still on the 12 string...around 1:01 HAHAHA

  • 2:20 and 3:22

    LOL on those JP's smiles

  • Hey look!

    It's skinny Petrucci!

  • art...!!!!! just a master disc

  • The Great Debate is wierd

  • i think its a nice song but they wasted too much time in the part where random people keep saying stuff.

  • and it's likely that people outside US won't figure it out that fast

    (at least i haven't...)

  • @DemonEyesDara

That's the whole concept behind the lyrics. Two sides of the debate.

  • @Niekpas1

well, it's been 2 years since I posted my comment and I can see what you mean now :D

*Kicks my past self for his ignorance*

  • @DemonEyesDara

    Haha, nice.

  • solitary shell sounds like the entertainment

  • the best album ever

  • i bought it only 3 years after it came out. but i immediately fell in love with it.

today, although i got all of their albums, this is pretty much the only one i hear!!

    :)

  • @VeinMichal

Second CD yes. First CD no.

  • u listen to peter gabriel?....and know his music note for note....gay

  • @dancingwithsteve Portnoy listens to gabriel :P

  • solitary shell is a direct reference to solsbury hill by pete.

    gotta love that pete

  • fuck off

  • its true, it was completely inspired by solsbury hill, its not a complete copy tho i can play both on guitar they arent the same they just sound similar

  • actually i can play both on guitar and their no where closely related note wise just pitch progression their similar but solitary shell, (that part of the song) was inspired by solsbury hill so do some research before you start accusing

  • does any1 have the guitar world inter view with petrucci jeff loomis and dave mustaine??

  • Wikipedia said that the Misunderstood guitar solo was written and then played backwards or something. It said the source was this video...I'm not seeing any of that here.

  • Not everything that is on Wikipedia is true..

  • Yah I think that part was BS.

  • Actually, most things are. There are things that aren't true though, like prolly this guitar solo thing.

  • it was written, recorded, then played backwards, then petrucci learned it backwards, then recorded it again, and the nreversed it again to get a unique sound or something.

ofcourse that part isn't in this vid cause this vid is about the son Six degrees of inner turbulence, not the CD, not miss understood

  • ah, cool.

  • men the solo in was played with a harmonicer(sorry my bad spelling....)

  • hahaha even that DT doesn´t make pop music that young girls listen to while the artist trying to be look sexy or something, two in DT seems to have some girlsfans...Those who are guilty is Petrucci and Labrie! what a bunch of dives =D

  • They were using digital performer! I love that program!!

  • ahhh isnt petrucci just the cutest person int the world=D

  • Where can i get this video? Do you know any torrent files?

  • You can download it through youtube, if you want, I can send you a message to show you how to do it,

  • hey thnx. I know that you can download videos from youtube, but i meant the full dvd from a torrent file. I searched it but couldn't find it. Anyway thnx again.

  • Haha. John Petrucci's face at 3:21.

  • best album of dream!

  • Lol, at 3:10-3:13, Mike looks like he is having fun.

  • Best band ever, best album ever

  • @ICanPlayTheGuitar182

I think Six Degrees shares same place as: Scenes from a Memory as the best Dream Theater album.

  • @seamuscloud Yes both were recorded at BearTracks Studio.

  • Do I hear a Cow Bell in that?? Lol.

  • that's the metronome. it does sound like a cowbell though :P

  • MORE COWBELL!!!!

  • dream hasta la muerte !

  • If you don't know spanish I suggest you shut up, because he was actually cheering for DT in that comment.

  • Sometimes I think... when DT are in the studio and say "hhhm, let's do a break from recording and just noodle around..." Then that noodeling would still be better than what most other prog bands do when trying to record seriously... I LOOOOOVE DT!!

  • Lol, these guys are hilarious. And awesome :P

  • rudess fo sho!

  • rudess... no way :P the 1° keyboard man of world ^^

  • rudess for sure..

  • Muy copado eh!

  • such a great song

  • awesome...dude were did u get this video?

  • Solitary Shell...

  • lastho (1 week ago)

which song is he playing with the 12 string ? I hate myself for not knowing.. and the album is 100 miles away from me.. is it take away my pain ?

eeerm what about solitary shell? ..

  • which song is he playing with the 12 string ? I hate myself for not knowing.. and the album is 100 miles away from me.. is it take away my pain ?

  • solitary shell.

  • Solitary Shell from 6DOIT Disc 2. It is a tribute to Peter Gabriel's song Solsbury Hill. See the resemblance?

  • send me a message, it'd be awesome if you could send me this vid to my email

  • hehe u can see that petruccis has just gone out to a shop and bought that twelve string cos the price tag is still hanging from the headstock!

  • hes gonna record an album and return it lmao

  • Actually, it's exactly what he did. Did the same for Train Of Thought also, just borrowed a guitar from the shop...

  • can you send me this video? please, I would really appreciate that. alocsav23@gmail.com thanks

  • is this a dvd? if not, do they have a 'making of' 6 degrees dvd?
