This is an American Audience. It's typical, sad and ironic that the song is spot on regarding this audience. We have so much growing up to do. Listen to other versions of this song done in Europe to an appreciative audience. This might have been a green audience but they were more shite brown to me.
It's a sad truth, but some people don't find music, or art in any form to be a particularly important aspect of life, so instead of soaking up the performance, they go just to experience his precence and have a fun time. In that case his music doesn't really matter. It's just as hard for me to understand why they won't be quiet.
You're right. And how bitter must it be for Rufus! Here he comes with his new masterpiece and people seem not to care (those who do you can't hear). I admire him for not standing up and shouting "SHUT THE F*** UP" in the mike. Showbiz sure is tough.
Amazing!!!! He does another "challenging" but totally great version of this song on the video of the Dave Hill Explosion interview - part 7 I think. Worth doing a search, but I don't know how to post a link!
oops - no, it's part 8. But part 7 is good too & he does another acoustic version of sansouci (sp?). The interview has Dick Cavett too, and he is duely impressed by Rufus' performance!
Agreed. The overall video is somewhat hampered by the ignorance of the audience and the constant chatter. I am fortunate enough to have the entire new album and it is interesting. Not as great as any of his previous four, however have it on constant repeat. Highlights are Going To A Town, Do I Disappoint You, Tulsa, and Between Your Legs. Any Rufus fan will love it :-)
Not as great? You're on crack. Do I Disappoint You is the best "masterpiece" song since I Don't Know What It Is. That song alone is worth the price of the album. It's pure mastery. Then there's Leaving for Paris, which I think is probably the best piano song he's ever written because of how quiet and simple it is while still being incredibly powerful.
this is very nice i was put of him by listening to his judy garland tribute but this song is very nice and suits his voice i thought he had a crap voice in the judy tribute so i am pleasantly surprised,
Did he release a Judy Garland tribute, or were you at one of the concerts? I'd like to hear his cover stuff, although I don't care about Garland herself.
no he was in london doing the tribute if u put judy garland in on here scan through them till u find him mind u i shouldnt help someone who says they dont care for garland herself!!
singing under these circumstances he probably thought "that´s exactly why i wrote the song". the cd is out may 15th, the press already has it and if you thought "want 1+2" wer his best yet you´re in for a wonderful surprise!
He is precious. I am so sad that this audience was so disrespectful. I love him so much

jeez-how in the face of such awesome talent can the audience carry in talking among themselves? Ignorance at its best? Rufus is a true star!

I have to give Rufus credit for not verbally impaling those yap yap yap yap yappers. What do they think they were at a mall? Jesus!
