I used to listen to a lot of metal in my youth, starting with metallica and megadeth, then started finding a bit heavier music intriguing I moved to White Zombie and Pantera, but I really lost interest when bands like Stattic X and Powerman 5000 took the scene. In Flames brought me back into metal after 5 years of trance (which I am still big into) but like you say, you grow to appreciate the vocals as time goes by

There's a lot of metal with clean vocals, all of the 'classic' heavy metal bands use clean vocals, power metal uses clean vocals, most progressive metal does, etc. Also, there are bands who play only instrumental songs.

Its hard to recommend a single band... maybe Iron Maiden and Judas Priest for the metal classics, Dream Theater and Shadow Gallery for prog metal, idk what power metal band to recommend

Also There's a band called Black Sabbath (I'm sure most of us know them) Who rarely if at all use anything different than clean vocals. But they are considered Hard Rock/Metal.
