Hello, thanks for posting this. My name is Jose Santiago and Miguel Santiago is my father. I don't know how well you knew my father, but I'm sorry to tell you that he passed away in August of 2003. My siblings and I really enjoyed watching him in action through your video ... as you probably know, mariachi music was his passion! Thanks again!
@ViolinMaestro Hello Jose - I really enjoyed getting to know your father, Miguel, back in the 80s when he came to Logan, UT for the Fest of the Am West with Los Reyes de Alb. I had just bought a vihuela when I met him, and he gave me a lot of support and some great lessons. I lost track of him by the 90s, mainly because we stopped going to Logan. I was saddened to hear of his passing. The excitement he brought to his music was evident & it rubbed off on all who knew him. Thanks - Justin Bishop
Very cool video.. I actually have this very same footage. My father is Lorenzo Martinez. Its cool to see that this is still out there and gets watched after all these years.. Also pardon the correction but the vihuela players name is actually Miguel Santiago not Miguel Archibeque. I am actually a good friend of his son Jose Santiago...Very cool clip, keep them coming!!
Hey - great to hear from you. Really great! I just talked to my friends Lucy & Clyde Salazar & the let me know it was Miguel Santiago. Yeah, it was about 22 years ago & I got his name mixed up. Thanks for pointing it out. Miguel is a really great guy, as is your dad, Lorenzo, and your Grandfather, Roberto! Please stay in touch, Jose. Justin Bishop
Sorry for getting your name wrong, too. I see that your name is Larry, and Jose is Miguel's son. You really are a great vihuela player, too. I checked out your channel & watched you playing "Tu Sonrisa."
