  • Though bengali are known for Tagore, still I feel, he has not been realised to the extent it should have been.

  • @soumenb22 _ Then who is realised ? Whatever Tagore has given is not possible for a man to do in 1 life. The enormous work with each work having deep layers and human expression cannot be better.

Anyway _ what is definition of realization ?

    Are you realised

  • @chakraborty001 No tx

  • This is such a wonderful tune. Sadly, I don't understand Bangla. Got a few words. Seemed like purane din ki katha bhool gaye, and that affects his 'praan'. Dunno if I got it right. Still, despite my lack of understanding, this is haunting.

  • please, can u tell me..the name of the movie....i want to c...

  • @syed513 agniswar..one of the greatest uttamkumar movies..

  • How could we forget about the days of old, alas, o the

Gaze of eyes the heart to heart how can we let it pass. For

One more time my dear friend, enter my heart. We’ll

Speak of joys and sorrows to enchant our hearts. We

Gathered flowers in the morn we swung upon a swing. We

Played a flute and sang along, beneath a flowering tree. A

-long the way we parted and we went to different parts. If

We should meet again dear friend let’s meet in our hearts.

  • This is one of my most favorite song....since my childhood......i used to sleep after hearing this song...! and even still now whenever i hear this song i feel something inside my heart which makes me glued to it.......!

    Really a wonderful Song.....!!

  • Present day hrithk roshan is direct copy paste4m styles and attitude of a turkish singer called TARKAN.Most of tarkans songs are copied directly by bollywood specially a section of sikhs and punjabis who feel proud to do so building gurdwaras in countries they migrate in the name of khhalistan and false apprehension of terror in india...sikhism iself is pirated version of islam. But wth respect i can only say Islam influenced Sikhism.Sikhism like Islam is also book religion.

  • 16th century scottish music were mostly saxophonic.Scotland or country music should have been influenced by Rabindranath Tagore little bit for publishing in the UK.England is a very strict land always with respect to plagiarism.Tagore mentioned his influences in most of his Bengali to English works of Royal Scottish descent.Scottish would not haveliked very regional stuffs from colony under British yolk more so from Calcutta, the hauptstadt of British finance.

  • but this was not copied.Only minimal about1.7 % of his music is inspired from scottish medieval music of 15 or 16 th century but he did that because in Kolkata or rather then India disregarded his talent. Most publishers though published him as he was economically solvent enough to publish stuffs did not work out well in local or indian markets.England translated his works and sold them in the UK and Commonwealth which fetched him Nobel.Otherwise his fate would have joined that of Subhas Bose.

  • @deshmeradesh1 Isn't bollywood from west India ?

  • agnishwar

  • @rakeshkakodkar- It is an oft repeated theme you can find similarities to this song in several cultures all over. I had heard the french version in a france subway of Mary Hopkin's 'those were the days my friend' . Needless to say this song is something I hold close to my heart! It is a beautiful song! Thanks for sharing it with us here!

  • This song seems an adaptation of Auld Lang Syne.. That was a 19th century song. The words and the tune are extremely similar

  • @rakeshkakodkar1 YES YOU ARE RIGHT.Auld Lang Syne is the unofficial national song of the Scottish people globally.

  • This song seems an adaptation of Auld Lang Syne.. That was a 19th century song. The words and the tune are extremely similar

  • @rakeshkakodkar1 yes it is. Tagore was inspired by the Irish song on his visit there in the 1920's

  • @sbrahmachari Its not based on an Irish song , rather a Celtic poem/song which is also the unofficial national anthem of Scotland. auld lang syne.

  • @jitadityak very nice

  • when i heard this song, i cannot talk for some time.

  • agnishwar

  • Thank you! Learnt this as a part of my Classical Rabindra Sangeet training. Dad was posted in Cal then. Lost track of my closest friend coz she lost her Dad and somewhere in the midst we just moved on....very much in-line with this song. I've been able to find her after several decades of search...She reminded me how we used to quote from Shakespeare! I've just shared this one with her. Would love to hear her response. I am not Bengali (but it was my second language) and she is a Bengali.

  • @abundantroses a story with a common thread for me too! nostalgia in b/w.

  • such a nice character of doc an ideal one i am a doctor only for this cinema it gave me such a huge influence since my early childhood, where those characters gone today ????its agniswar

  • mind blowing

  • 1. The song is a copy although Tagore acknowleedged it

    2. Hemanta is one of the worst Tagore singer ever

    3. Uttam Kumar sucks

    4. Satyajit Ray would have fainted seeing this video

  • @ayan116 Well rash opinions apart.. Uttam Kumar was a proficient actor which is justified by his popularity. Hemanta M. sang Tagore's songs without distorting them adding something extra. They strived for effectiveness not perfection. Their works are classics because in a different time people still seek them. Why be so rash if its not of "your preference"? Surely Mr. Ray wasn't as frail hearted as to faint so trivially without a reason. He definitely wouldn't have sided with your impetuity.

  • i havent seen this movie..can anyone explain whats going on leading upto this scene? such a touching song and clip.. thanks in advance

  • @ro7477 The full movie (Agniswar) is available on YouTube..it's a wonderful movie.... if you have trouble finding the movie, let me know

  • eto koshto lage keno gaan shune?

  • cinema tar naam ki?

  • @flyingmachine87 Movie tar naam AGNISWAR..YouTube a available just type "Uttam Kumar Agniswar movie"

    and it should show up

  • Robindra sangeet at its best.

Hemonto babu's rendition is perhaps the best and most followed.

Iam an old alumnus from jadavpur univ.(Class of 1969) BME. Everytime our Delhi alumni function would begin with this haunting song.

  • Purano Diner kotha jara Bhulte pare , Tader mato Paistha manush jato kom hoy tato bhalo....

  • Though I have liked Georgeda's rendition of this song this one was sung wonderfully well. One of my most fav films of Uttam Kumar. Banaful painted a canvas with words.

  • Brings back so many beautiful memories!!!!

  • when i was a baby, i would refuse to go to sleep until my dad sang this song to me....the first time my dad left home for 2 weeks for work, my mom had a hell of a hard time getting me to sleep because she couldn't sing it like my dad did and I would just cry and cry. Such a beautiful song, I can see why, even at 3 months old, I absolutely loved it!

  • sounds an awful like it, i'm getting back to my bengali roots after being a self hating bengali for years. Stay in touch, I'll hopefully be able to reasearch it and give you info on it later!

  • Kutus is right Sayan...tumi Rabindra nath pore thakle janbe janbe je ei gaan ta inspired by the Scottish Gaelic Dialect 'Auld Lang Syne'...eta Rabindra nath nijei bolechen...but still the lyrics r all original and as usual Outstanding!!!

  • khub valo.......

  • thank you!!

  • too good and i am not even bengali ......just too good rythm is just wow can some one translate

  • oh! how can one forget the past days...we have seen and lived those days with our heart..how can we forget those days!

come friend once more to the heart..we will talk about our happiness and sorrows!

we plucked flowers at dawn ,sang and played flute under "bokul" tree!

alas! we separated on the way of life and we drifted apart..but now that we met again..come into my heart!!

its a song about friendship and long lost friends!,,

  • thanks so much for translating, i was able to pick some words on basis of listening to too many bengali songs.....but translation helps a lot....song is very deep

  • That is more or less the same as Auld Lang Syne ('a Long Time Ago' in English)

Anyway, i'm a Bengali-Scot, so this is a beautiful song for me. :)

  • This song actually an adapted Scottish song titled "Auld lang syne". Tegore adopted the lyrics as well as the tune of the original song. This is the new year eve song. "Should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind. Should auld acquaintance be forgot and days of auld lang syne........"

  • i just listened to original auld song i must say i couldnt tell if song is indeed total inspiration...but must admit if god had sent some one who could be considered as voice mixed with honey it would be hemant kumaar...way he sang and the words (now that i know literal translation of words ) its just priceless

  • Well, I woudnt say that it was literal translation. Rather Tegore took the theme of the song and put his own word into it. He himself called it as "bhanga gaan" ("broken song" as it wasnt original.) Another adapted scottish folk song/tune is "Fule fule dhole dhole".

  • i see y ai heard about phule phule too ..what matters is inspiration does come from somewhere ..but he did create masterpeice thanks so much my friend

  • Indeed! Thanks! :)

  • Agni Isshor.... Beautiful Movie. My dad and I watch it all the time... :)

  • Thank you....................

  • We are all growing old and we all have memories of those 'purano din'. But the poetry and simplicity of expression make this go beyond mere nostalgia. Why can't they do justice to RobindraSangeet in Bengali movies any more?

  • this world is full with murder , corruption. the ebngaly movie has been corrupt too so for the time being they can not do justice for our grat thinkers adn poets

  • What is the name of the movie
