As stated in Just a Man by Tina and Patricia Hutchence, Michael Hutchence would check into hotels under a pseudonym. One pseudonym was "MR. PUSSYCAT" after I came up with the idea for the all girl group and made up the songs for The Pussycat Dolls. This is also where Kurt Cobain's obsession with dolls came from.
The INXS song Reckless Ways was written in late 1983, not before, as it inspired the movie Reckless (Feb '84) starring Daryl Hanna, Jennifer Grey, Aidan Quinn, and Adam Baldwin. The movie was used as a way to promote INXS Shabooh Shoobah ('82). I am the "Amy" mentioned in INXS song Reckless Ways written in 1983 and met them in June '83 while they were on a break from touring.
Hutch told me about another Australian band named the Hoodoo Gurus. This was part of the inspiration behind me writing the song "Hoodoo/Voodoo Medicine Man" for Aerosmith released on their '89 Pump album. "Read it in the papers, it ain't fair, You know who today don't seem to care, Livin' lovin' gettin' loose, Masturbatin' with a noose" - See how Michael Hutchence died.
yes the video is a typical cheesy 80s vid, yes im a DIEHARD metalhead (i listen to stuff like dying fetus and slayer), but i fucking LOVE this song!!!
I remember this group well, and thought they would be around as long as Bush. I retired from active duty last yr, after signing up out of HS. Thats me, super lifer.
I will look att the wiki site. Strange, he does strike me as a Prima Dona. But artists and musicians are like that. Never really thought about it. Left brain vs Right brain thing I quess.
@andanicechianti I'm skeptical of events like these. He was at the top of his career. But, if a legit exam and investigation was done, then its just a damn shame.
Yea, it really is a shame. He was a fantastic musician, showman, and prima donna as well. If you really wanna know more about him go Wiki him and see what a crazy personal life he had. Not sure how old you are but from your question earlier you may not be familiar with INXS. This band fuckin rocked back in the late 80s. Too bad we don't have more like them today.
@1dirkmanchest, Let me disagree: He wasn't at the top of his career. Actually the top of his career was this album, KICK (87) - a decade before - may extend that 4 or 5 years ('X' 90 - 'LIVE BABY LIVE' 91) but then after WTWYA 92 and FMDH 93, they were never the same again, specially Michael and his tumultuous 'private' life. A little of a come back with EW 96.They were at that point - late 80s early 90s - my favorite band. After that period I never had a one only favorite again! We miss him!
@nanito0911 I wil have to listen to some of their work from that time period. In 87 I was in the middle of my medical training and lived in the library, after that hospital and clinic rounds. I missed out on a few things. Thanx for tip. Regards,
@1dirkmanchest, I heard that before about medical school... Hope it was worth it!
IMHO this are the top albums:
KICK 87
LISTEN LIKE THIEVES 85
SHABOOH SHOOBAH 82
X 90
LIVE BABY LIVE 91
So many singles/ songs from those albums! Many of them like under rated gems! Need you tonight - my favorite song ever - wasn't number 1 @ Billboard 1988 just b/c G Michael's Faith! Back in Nov 97, I found out after 2 days about his death.... a cocktail of emotions: Sad, Angry, Nostalgic, Pissed, etc Cheers!
@1dirkmanchest ...Murdered??!! What the fuck are you talking about?? He hung himself because he was on anti-depressants and had been drinking heavily...a very lethal mix. He had also been involved in a very ugly custody dispute with his ex and that asshole Bob Geldof, whom she was living with. A lot of people say that drove him to it. Just do some research before you go posting bullshit out of your ass like all these other stupid fucks on YouTube.
@KamarThomas219 ...So the next thing is, you'll be claiming you were there in the hotel room or that you examined his body in the morgue. Where is your proof, numbnuts??!!
@superhornet69 Thank you for your articulate response. I do not doubt he was troubled, but the family and others have had doubts about the quality of the investigation. And a custody battle that can be resolved by a homicide is excellent motive for his demise. You are well traveled and well read, you don't seem like the type to take the media's word without question. Regards,
@superhornet69 No. I accept his death as a suicide without question. I also believe that Oswald shot JFK and that FDR had no idea that Japan was about to hit Pearl Harbor. I believe that Operation Gunrunner was a botched sting operation. I believe that the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty was a identification error. I believe that moving all our oil rigs to Brazil and then loaning them two Billion dollars was to improve the ecosystem of the gulf coast.
@1dirkmanchest ...Dude, what the hell??!! Now you are bringing JFK and FDR and the Mossad and the CIA into Michael Hutchence's death!!! I believe that Michael was indeed a rock star but I have a really hard time swallowing that he was a CIA operative or that he was in on the death of JFK. However, there is valid testimony that a shooter was on the Grassy Knoll that fit the description of Hutchence and that he also had an Aussie accent. Please tell me more about what you really know.
@superhornet69 I cite these things as evidence that cover-ups have happened. It was taught for decades that the US had no idea that Japan would strike. Surprise, Roosevelt knew about it.That is fact.Others knew. Code breakers to inner staff, maybe 15 people. Some had to be deemed a security risk. Brakes failed, or a slip in the shower, surprise a "burglar" and take a bullet. The Hell's Angels say that two men can keep a secret, if one is dead. I trust in God, all others I search.
@1dirkmanchest ...Just for the record...where is your proof that Michael Hutchence was ever a code breaker or a member of the Hells Angels??!! But you have a point about INXS being a security risk as their lyrics are fraught with nods to such groups as Red September and the Apple Dumpling Gang. I am really glad you are tuned into this shit and can send me alerts. Carry on....
@superhornet69 I submitted an analogy. Powerful people or governments have done bad things, kept secrets, and told lies to fool the public. Did the man kill himself? Was he murdered to avoid a costly custody battle? Who the hell knows? My point is don't believe everything you read in the paper. And it is Black September not Red. But there was the Red Brigades and the Red Army Faction aka the Baader-Meinhof Gang. And for the record, Michael belonged to none of them. Or did he?
@1dirkmanchest ...This requires further detailed anaylsis about just what terroist groups that Michael may or may not have belonged to. Thanks for the heads-up, I will look into this then get back to you.
@xZippy38 I think the best era of music was the 70s mostly because all these bands started during that time and it revolutionized music so ya thats all lol
I wrote Need You Tonight and Mediate. Mediate "Desegregate" was about Bham, AL Bull Connor on Nov 20, 1938 at Boutwell Auditorium ordering the crowd to segregate. First lady Eleanor Roosevelt responded by moving her chair to the middle of the aisle. I was discovered by Joe Elliott of Def Leppard May 15, 1983 at Boutwell Auditorium while Def Leppard was on the Rock Till You Drop Tour.
..too good of a song to have such poor sound quality. have some respect and pride. 2009 version? fat chance. sorry. just giving criticism where criticism is due.
he was unable to overcome his depression caused by hardwork...it is difficult to see evrytime thousands people who want you and it is very difficult to do everytime the same work..of course he received death by misfortune..
@carlasaskia People are always going to act like they're cooler because they heard something before others did or they were alive in 1987--as if they toured with the band (when they were 8?). Those people are insecure douchebags who probably just started listening to INXS in 2007. Screw 'em. And anybody who says that the 80's or 90's were so awesome is caught in a nostalgia trap. There was plenty of awful music during those decades. Three words: Color Me Badd.
@FarmChica You are right - there were many bad artists but I was a college student in 1986 when my roommate introduced me to The Cure, Depeche Mode and The Smiths. These, along with INXS, were the staples for kids my age in California.
Will Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift be listened to in 25 years? I seriously doubt it.
This song/video might not seem like much these days, but it was pretty risque by late 80's standards. That, and Michael Hutchence was way different than most male mainstream musicians at the time. No glam or antics--just one hell of a voice and a natural sexiness that no straight woman could resist. What a loss.
@cinnmingirl Fair enough I suppose. I was born in the 80's but didn't really "live" through it. Although I didn't live through the 30's - 70's either, and I love music from those decades. I actually love a lot of 80's music, but as far as what was mainstream, it was like a failed experiment. Lot's of electric drums, and a melting pot of everything. It was like culture threw up on itself... ;) Look at the fashion and everything. The Reagan years... No one knew what they were doing.
One of the best songs of the 80s, says the television channel VH1, I agree and I love this song and the video is awesome, Michael Hutchence's voice is very sexy
I missed this song ;A;

..too good of a song to have such poor sound quality. have some respect and pride. 2009 version? fat chance. sorry. just giving criticism where criticism is due.

FarmChica 4 months ago

Though I like this song, I strongly feel both the last decade, and the 80's has the worst quality of music.
Huffstuff420 4 months ago
@Huffstuff420 -Doubtful you lived thru the 80s if you feel that way. You had to be there.
cinnmingirl 4 months ago
@cinnmingirl Fair enough I suppose. I was born in the 80's but didn't really "live" through it. Although I didn't live through the 30's - 70's either, and I love music from those decades. I actually love a lot of 80's music, but as far as what was mainstream, it was like a failed experiment. Lot's of electric drums, and a melting pot of everything. It was like culture threw up on itself... ;) Look at the fashion and everything. The Reagan years... No one knew what they were doing.
