  • With no doubt this is one of the greatest records ever made

  • does any one know the film this was in years ago with a guy riding a motor bike down a mountain with this in the back ground. PLEASE HELP .

  • Possibly the ultimate soul song. I saw Joplin nail this live (you KNOW she'd do this song) but Lorraine's the queen.

  • I bought this when it came out. Still have all my vinyls. 1966 was it?

  • Mighty powerful stuff.

  • I wouldn't trade my vinyl of this song for anything!

  • omg what an absolutely brilliant voice!!!!

  • this is one of david bowie's favourite songs.

  • @moniversity19 Interested to hear that it's one of Bowie's favorites - does he actually have a version?

  • Something Ive noticed over the years.... Women used to sing very powerful from the soul, sometimes more powerful than a man... now they sing as if they crave sex or they think they are too cute... and so do the men...??? WTF happened haha

  • @clix411 Great observation........you don't hear voices like this anymore........during the 60's and 70's this was the key. And the maturity of the voices mattered. Not anymore.

  • One person ain't deep and has no soul

  • the boat that rocked

  • i punched the air so many times during this...and was lip syncing furiously to curb my desire to sing out loud (everyones asleep)

  • absolutley the best version. No contest

  • Beautiful

  • ooh i just got chills, what an amazing voice

  • AWESOME XXX

  • This was written and produced by Jerry Ragovoy. On the day of the session Sinatra had cancelled a session in the studio next door so Jerry quickly grabbed Sinatra's orchestra, wrote the parts and that's why there are strings and brass on this, the best ever recording.

  • Very awesome song.

  • FINALLY, I ahve been looking for this for forever.

  • fantastic !!!

  • I first heard this track playing out the credits on a film - HELP! what film was it? Fantastic song ...

  • @kierandempsey1 im with you,im 14 and i heard this song on the movie Pirate Radio (the boat that rocked) and it really moved me, really powerful song

  • @Locoroco2fan exact same with me ^^

  • @kierandempsey1 You love it because you are a human being and because it's beautiful...simple.

  • Tīna es mīlu Tevi.......

  • The best version.

  • What an amazing artist and song!

  • I agree, this is one of my all time favorites. Her voice is strong and soulful and clear.

  • If you think this is good check out Michael Grimm's version. Heartfelt, soulful and full of emotion!!!

  • spine tingling f......ing awesome.!!!

  • @Everyone, I know the picture sucks, but I had sooooooo much trouble getting this past the copyright bots that when i finally got it working i decided to leave it alone. The tune is too good not to be here in all its glory. You may notice its just a little faster than it should be (hint) and anyway. I don't listen to this with my eyes open.

  • @gjclift LOL im guessing u said that after i said the picture sucks.. didnt mean to sound ungrateful, because i listen to tis daily... LOL thanks for the upload!!!

  • @gjclift I knew you had to go undercover to post this most beautiful and emotional love song which is really a testament to your creativity and determination to post this timeless gem. Your efforst are greatly appreciated.

  • @gjclift THANK YOU. I didn't know there were so many versions. I uploaded the Jimmy Witherspoon 1970 version not too long ago. I just heard Kiki Dee and now this, This is THE BEST. It gives the most FRISSON - the best thrill/chill. What a voice !

  • @gjclift thank you for what you have done crappy pic or not....doesnt change THAT voice :-)

  • awesome song... horrible picture....

  • ONE OF THE GREATS!!

  • God I love this song.

  • thank you! thank you! thank you! for posting this. so beautiful. i tried look for it awhile back and it wasnt here. it makes me happy that i finally found it!

  • Great, great version. That maturity of her voice makes this song soul searing! Love other versions........but this is THE ONE that gives you ALL THE PAIN and LONGING!

  • there shouldn't even BE a dislike button for this song.

  • Man, this is a masterpiece of a song - Lorraine Ellison - incredible, soulful - wow, the emotion she puts in this song is just incredible !!!!!!!!

  • This is, in my opinion, one of the best 10 recordings EVER made. An absolute masterpiece in every way. From the start it grabs at your heartstrings and refuses to let go. The raw power and emotion on display here are truly awesome (a word I rarely use). This was undoubtedly Lorraine's finest hour, impossible to improve on.

  • @1408alan ....spot on alan... this is the song they put that 10 on the speakers for !

  • i say nothing new-piękne

  • Beautiful.

  • Maan, this song is sooo soulful and heart-touching, love it. Though I was a kid when this came out, I remember it, always being the soul/r&b fan. Extremely romantic and capable of sending one into oblivion about that special someone. Thanks for posting.

  • Great record. Somehow lost over the years. Thanks for sharing.

  • @alex24593yt Interesting comment-this recording has definitely NOT been lost, at least here in the UK

One of America's greatest gifts to the world

    Thank you.
