Thanks for your comment - Xanax eh ! - havent heard that word for a long time - those Bret novels I think - take care and thanks for watching - Johnson
Its funny how you think I have talent and I know that I have none at all - suppose it depends on the objective - these take a lot of hard work - i always found the guitar a bit like a computer game - after 5 hours of playing none stop its seemed like minutes to me. - take care - Johnson
I learned this piece from the album ( with tab ) called Masters of the Ragtime guitar which you can get from Amazon or Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop - Also you can get this piece and tab also from Stefan Grossman Guitar Workshop where the album is a solo album of Lasse Johansson called - Early Jazz for fingerstyle guitar - also you could search out Lasse Johansson web site on Google - you shall see his albums and arrangements on his web site. Goof luck Johnson
@johnsonhogg AMEN!!! not to mention quite a guitar player too! He and Reprac9 are making me turn green with envy when I listen to them play! And I am neither Kermit the frog, nor Irish,HA!
@0ldfinger You were right! Thanks for pointing this one out! Now all I have to dois practice forthe next 99 and a half year in order to be that good! :)
the description is wrong i wouldent say this is advanced fingerstyle more mid range stuff i can think of many many harder things and you cant call both advanced
Thanks - i have seen the cover of the original pn the Lasse Johansson web site - I can imagine its definately worth having - thanks for commenting - apreciate it.
now this is funny i used t play this in Em...but with no capo...but you probably right ,much less bass fretting...I pulld it out by ear...couple a lifetime ago...
Amazing playing that I could only hope to dream of approaching. As a listener, it seems like it would be greatly accented with a little more "punch"? Or perhaps "feel"...I'd love to see more of this regardless.
It forgives for the errors in my writing. I am of Brazil I do not say English and I used the translator of geogle to write. You burrow very. Pleasant… very Very good… Success and everything of good…
thanks David - I always think comfort first with focus on the required pattern for the next postition and keep working through it that way - its not where I am so to speak - its where I need to be next that matters.
What a memory - I remember trying to decide between playing Anji or Silver Swan. Either way I remember a lot of tutting as I fluffed parts up. Cant remember if I was 15 or 16 and reckon it must have been sometime in 77.
someone made a comment the other day about 'Russian rock n roll' and could I imagine such a thing, (a bit like English Vodka I spose) which has lead me here. Amazing.
i was randomly on youtube and i think i typed in advanced fingerpicking, you came up as the third result. And i am thanking god that you did. this is amazing guitar work a pleasure to listen to. instant 5* and subscription
i'm learning to play this song . but i find it really hard to play up to tempo because of the right hand. got any tips for right hand technique? Do you have to alternate fingers when playing several notes on one string to get it up to speed?
Analyse each section, play in a way that you find comfort, forget the theory. Yes index and second finger for the runs but again why not try resting your little finger on the scratch plate for hand stability. ( although I dont )
So , take each section on its own, dont try to play it all, relax and find comfort and ease.
Tempo - you have between 3,05 mins and 3,35 mins to do this, use it. I play this a little fast but comfortable
You play so beautifully that it's just stunning. Your technique is so accomplished that the music is delightful and fun without the distraction of seeming like a finger buster. (I have to agree with daddystovepipe, though -- why the reverb/echo?) Thanks, and please post more.
I fell of my chair when I saw that you commented. After years and years of trying to play your arrangements it is really really nice that you comment.I have just pulled out your albums to remind me what you look like. Section 3 is difficult, especially that strange positioning ( I dont know any chord names )on the third change but I tried to work around that. Yes I tried but couldnt get the thing down to 3:08 minutes which upset me. Again thankyou for commenting, it made my day, week, year.
-thanks a lot for your comments - Ive been playing on and off since the age of about 12, got hooked on kicking mule stuff around 14 but after a number of years realised that it was too specific and not appealing to most. It was only when I stumbled on youtube that I thought I'd put some stuff on for those who may be beginning their journey with this guitar style.
Beautiful, went into a trance and forgot my worries(n shit)..your like xanax coming through my lap top...Loved it!!

Any tips on fingernail health? You see, I dropped my pick about 10 years ago, and never bothered to find it...
stevietheflea 2 years ago
I have about 2 or 3 mm free overhang per nail nothing too long. Have to keep them like this and dont allow them to get any longer or they break.
