  • A REALLY GOOD SONG

  • Saw this amazingly talented man last night - performing in Stratford on Avon. I've seen him almost every time he visits England, and it still amazes me how his voice has not altered over these 32yrs since he had this hit. Rock on - a real gent too x

  • He's goodlooking man don't you think?

  • Amazing! Its over 30 years and I'm still word-perfect on this one! If only it was so easy to remember where I put my glasses....

  • It's not so much the song as the time in my life it recalls. Nostalgia is the breath of life to so much undeserving rubbish. Choose any decade.

  • You can thank your lucky stars that there's AN OFF BUTTON ON THE RADIO !!! I HATE THIS RECORD.

Half of this record featured Denise Marsa but Friedman refused to have her credited. What a turd !

  • SO TRUE

  • Even though the song is about him cheating on her, the song still has that something in that she forgives him. True love or desperation? (or does she chop it off when he is asleep).

  • i love this song, thanks for posting it. *bows*

  • It is UTTERLY hideous, easily the corniest, chessiest and most nerdy song of all time.

  • I see this song as profoundly wonderful duet of two poets in crisis. Sung, written, and shared - with...

...with much love, by a beautiful person

    Namely: Dean Friedman

Also listen to 'Diary' by Friedman for more fabulous introspective on the life and songs of a poet.

  • whatever floats you boat eh ;-)

I'll read through the lyrics and look for the hilarious part

  • Okay - it's not Shakespeare or Greek Tragedy - lol

After watching the eloquent videos in your own channel I think I will pass on commenting further as I got scared off by 'for a start'

    ;-)

    WTF indeed

are you licensed to troll at these depths BTW ? ;-)

  • Thanks for this timeless classic dean

  • Will definitely check out the tour, as long as you sing Lydia.

  • Hey Folks,

I'll be doing a 40 city UK/Ireland Tour July thru Oct.

  • I remember getting up for work at 530am, having a cup of tea, smoking an Embassy Regal and just loving to listen to this guy on the radio! That was over thiry years ago, and he still rocks! Best regards to you Dean.

  • Once I'd have turned my nose up at this (musical snobbery); now I love it a lot (softening from old age)...what a beautiful song.

  • Sometimes songs just stand the test of time and this is one of the greatest.

  • Simply a great song, makes me sad dunno why just does.

  • For Caroline Sara. Every single day, after all this time, still miss you and love as much as ever. If only I'd been smarter.

  • God this brings back memories. Great song, I can listen to this over and over again.

  • I lived in England at this time and loved this song! It was a top 10 on Radio One. England has a lot of great pop hits you don't hear anywhere else. I miss them. Thanks for posting this!

    Hold on! I am still young.....only 42!

  • great song

  • It might be a little "corny", but this is a really great song. Great memories as well.

  • This is one of those corny songs that sticks in you head. I remember going to Dublin to watch an Ireland rugby match in 1978. This song was big at the time. I remember being in The Students Union Bar Trinity college with a girl called Lisa then the lights went out lol . Thanks for the memory.

  • "I may not be all that bright,

but I know how to hold you tight."

Those lines remind me of my boyfriend. He's not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he knows how to cuddle me and make me feel happy and warm on the inside. :)

I love him so much. <3

  • Great Song broke the mould of contempoary style music in 1978

  • Bless you snickypoo. Maybe I should dance with you.

  • In 1978 I danced for the first time with the only love of my life who died of cancer two years ago.And this was the song. How I ache for one more dance with Marie. I still love you angel.

  • Stevemurph1, Im very sorry for your loss,R.I.P Marie xx

  • I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that maybe, just maybe 135026 is not particularly impressed.

  • i think this song did so much for me some 30 years a go.And i'am so happy it did

  • this is a nice song and well sung.

  • I have the CD at 1:15. Even after about 20 years it's still at the top of the cd rack.

  • My Grandad says this is possibily the greatest song ever written.

  • he's not a bad judge

  • Mentally, I have this filed with Moon and New York City. I know it's crazy, but it's true.

  • sheer class
